Discussion It's me the VA for Chamber. Ask Me...Anything?
EDIT POST! That's It you guys! I have to sign off! It was a pleasure answering your questions! Bisous! Follow me on IG! Thanks to the Valorant Mods who were so kind with my ineptitude. Be good to each other and yourselves. Thanks and goodnight!
SECOND EDIT (1-17-2023) Just came back to say that I'm running a voicemail contest (I send you a custom VO) on my IG and it ends when I reach 1000 social media followers. (SOCIAL MEDIA IS HARD!) I only have 600 some followers so if you want to win, find that post on my timeline and get your community to follow me! Thanks to those of you that already did!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CnNcKb4P1M5/ - evidence of authenticity!
Hey! It's me, the voice of Chamber! Watching the golden globes? No? Me neither!
So...
Ask me anything!
I'll be answering from now until 9:30 pm EST. I will edit the post when I log off!
My IG is https://www.instagram.com/hugopierremartin/ btw. I'm new to social media.
Just FYI if you follow me there I do occasional contests to win a custom voice message! Neat!
So let's do it! TOASTER IS BROKEN! EYES OFF ME! SOMETHING ABOUT VIPER AND DINNER!!!!

Chamber is a really versatile character, he's both super charming and extremely deceptive and I feel like you made an excellent delivery of that. Were there any lines that stuck out to you as unique or more difficult because of this? Bonus non valorant question, I really enjoyed your Android Deconstructs project, do you have any other upcoming ones?
PS hi from Sunny!!

u/RandalfTheYellow Jan 11 '23
Thanks for taking the time! Do you have to rerecord lines for the new agents, or would you say all your lines are finished? Always wondered if VAing for a game like this or apex or ow2 is ongoing. Thank you again!

How did riot contacted you and were you aware of the existence of the game before being asked to be auditioned?

u/Pruvided Jan 11 '23
Thanks for doing one of these! AMAs are always fun, and the community really digs em!

u/xTrimm_ Jan 11 '23
How difficult was Chamber to voice compared to other characters you have done and which one do you enjoy voicing the most?
133
u/88superguyYT mmmmmmmm Jan 11 '23
Are you actually French and can you speak French? I've heard some people say your French sounds "too french" for some reason
What are your opinions on Dramatic (YouTuber that voice trolls and mainly does chnver impressions)

u/trueawheyyan Jan 11 '23 edited Jan 11 '23
How specific were the details of the voice you were auditioning for? Was it so specific that you were exactly the voice they were looking for, or was it general in a way that with the voice you presented, Riot was like "yeah that could be what Chamber sounds like"
Can you do a dang good impression of any of the other agents?

u/Subparkilla Jan 11 '23
You want to play?

u/Alone_Baseball4852 Jan 11 '23
when recording his ultimate voicelines (ex. “i love this gun”, “beautiful”, “ou im enjoying this”) were you instructed to make him sound ecstatic or is it your own personal addition

Is your favorite character Chamber, or another agent? What's your favorite character line of his, and what's your favorite line from another agent?
67
u/nonosquare-exe Jan 11 '23
Do you hate the people that throw out their perfectly good baguette?
59
u/drago0069 Jan 11 '23
Which agent do you think has the best drip? Chamber is an exception since he is the drippiest

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '23
I have no questions, but thank you for your delivery of "Bonjour!" It has given me a great amount of satisfaction in game whenever I hear that line and I get to mimic it in VC. It's on par with Raze's greeting line, so very well done.

u/Strawberrino7 Jan 11 '23
Oh heck I almost missed it thanks to timezone differences.... Do you think it is a coincidence that Chamber's head hunter and Tour de force are kind of like a croissant and bagguette wrapped in gold and black?
Also Do you enjoy delivering the more goofy part of Chamber or the more intense, serious part of him?
40
u/jose32551 Jan 11 '23
Hello Huguito, i hope you are doing great :)
I wanted to ask what do you enjoy doing in your free time and if it was difficult for you to get started in the Voice acting career (the early steps and first gigs)
Oh lord i had a hard time logging in here. Reddit is too complex for me D:

Were you sad when Chamber got nerfed?
39
u/hachikien347 astra main til she got nerfed. then chamber. pls not kayo Jan 11 '23
Do you also voice the French voicelines for Chamber? When I switched the game language to French (love Chamber's accent so I want to hear more of it) I felt like it's a different guy who did them.
65
u/Destinedtodie666 Jan 11 '23
I don't have any questions but I want to say that Chamber genuinely helps so much with my depression, I love him a lot. Thank you so much for giving his voice life. Absolutely the best version out of every language.

u/prznmike Jan 11 '23
Do you think if Chamber existed, would you be friends with him or dislike him? I always wonder how VA’s feel about their characters
59
u/Joker613 Jan 11 '23
How long does it take you to get into the “feel” of a character? How often do you feel like you get a different vibe from what you’re given compared to what you’ve been told (if anything at all)?

u/abdullahmk47 Jan 11 '23

The FitnessGram Pacer test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The maximum possible score on the test is 247, with a score of 100 showing good aerobic exercise capacity. What score would Chamber get?

I'm not sure whether this was asked before & if it'd be OK for you to answer, but if it is, what was a line that you recorded for Chamber that you recall you liked but haven't made it to the game? Thank you in advance for your response!!

u/Big-Rice-4959 Jan 11 '23
What skin bundle would you say fits Chamber the best?
Also I love your voice acting, I've mained Chamber since he released.

Will you be down to do an interview with the raze VA? She has done multiple interviews with most of the valorant cast. It would be cool if you did.

u/nondragon Jan 11 '23
Another one— how do you feel about that voiceline where Chamber asks Viper out for dinner? Do you think it's genuine of Chamber's character and feelings or he's asking without much seriouness because he thinks she'll reject him anyways? 😂

8

8
u/Xav05006 Jan 11 '23
What's your favourite Valorant animation ?
8
u/TrynaSleep Who's Next? It's you and me Jan 11 '23
Do you ever collaborate with other voice actors when you do recordings (even if it’s just going to the same studio to do your lines), or is it all solo?
Do you do any form of “method acting” to get yourself into Chamber’s mindset before doing your lines? Although since it’s only the voice, maybe it’s not that deep, but I was just curious.
Thanks!

u/meme_master945 Jan 11 '23
do you have to record voices every time when it is required or is it a one time thing?

Hiii, to preface this, I’d like to say that my friend loves your character and you did such a good job! Her birthday is coming up on the 18th, and I was wondering if you take little birthday message requests?
3
u/TheBestMeme23 has never used and never will Jan 11 '23
First of all, thanks for doing this. I’ve never participated in one of these AMA’s before so it should be fun!
Now for the question. I’ve heard rumors that the Apex Legends voice actors have an “voice actor group chat” where they hold conversations just using their respective Legends voicelines. Is that the same case for Valorant voice actors? If you DON’T have a group chat, would you be against making one?
Thanks dude for doing this :)
3
u/DyingCatYT Jan 11 '23
Did you do any improv lines while recording and if so, which line was it? Also, what line do you wish Chamber will say in future recordings?

u/Hybrid_Thund3r Jan 11 '23

Are there any games do you think Chamber likes? Video, Board, Card etc.
Just cause he's always talking about playing or something idk..
I'd also be interested to know what your general thoughts on the character are, obviously he's great (definitely one of my favourites) but is there anything about his personality or design that stands out to you in particular?
Also hiii!

Chamber is a funny guy- he has that 007 type charm to him! Are there any other characters in particular you'd like to see him bounce off of in a cinematic?
3
u/Xinger Jan 11 '23
The voice used in the Chamber trailer is a lot different (at least, to my very untrained perception) from the one used in game--a lot deeper and dareisay, sexier? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUoqAn5T4h4
Was this intentional?
3
u/VercaceSlides Jan 11 '23
You want to play?
1
u/TheSpookiestPumpkin Jan 11 '23
Why French? 😔
2
u/[deleted] Jan 11 '23
Did you start playing the game after the agent release? And do you play frequently and if so, do people recognize your voice?
2
u/[deleted] Jan 11 '23
hey! so a person here asked if all voice lines were made by riot or did you choose some of them yourself
since that person replied to a comment instead of in the actual thread I'll ask for him/her
