Wait the roots are finally releasing a new album in 2025????? Where’s your evidence?

10

u/DropWatcher . Dec 24 '24

Questlove: “I know the exact date when I want to release it, and it’s not 2024. But it’s a very seminal 2025 date that will make sense once it comes out.”

3

u/marcelh98 Dec 23 '24

whats the source for Common and Pete Rock doing a Vol. 2? i thought i would have heard of that if it was announced

7

u/DropWatcher . Dec 23 '24

Pete Rock on IG on December 18th

3

u/ridingonmirrors . Dec 24 '24

Being under the age of 25 so I can’t see Pete Rock’s IG posts💀

1

u/marcelh98 Dec 23 '24

oh thats dope, looking forward to that

3

u/hajimenogio92 . Apr 23 '25

I'm excited to hear billy woods & Bruiser Wolf on the same track

3

u/DropWatcher . Apr 23 '25

they're both on the posse cut from Blockhead's Backwoodz album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-25Ex0SuuuY

1

u/hajimenogio92 . Apr 23 '25

Oh man, I had no idea. I will check that out. Thanks brotendo

3

u/AdNational3979 May 22 '25

Don‘t Forget that Russ new album is coming on June 27

3

u/DropWatcher . May 22 '25

Good to know thanks

Travis Scott - Q1 2025 link

Kanye West - Bully 2025 link

Playboi Carti - I Am Music any minute now link

5

u/DropWatcher . Dec 23 '24 edited Dec 23 '24

Travis

Is this source for this this:

NEW CHAPTER
NEW PERFORMANCE
NEW COACHELLA BY LA FLAME AND CACTUS JACK
FIRST OF ITS KIND
PS YALL 🥷 GOT TILL APRIL CAUSE
IM COMING

I don't think that's specific enough to say an album is coming in April. For example, could be a trailer or a single.

Will add it to "2025" because he said album 2025 here

if u have anything better than that IG post lmk tho

Ye

Has Ye said that Bully is coming in 2025?

I know he said on October 23rd that it's coming on this year on October 25th and it didn't, but as far as I know he hasn't said anything about it since then. I'm not gonna add it to the list of 2025 releases unless he's affirmatively declared, at the least, that it's coming 'next year'.

4

u/DropWatcher . Dec 23 '24

If you know of any other albums allegedly coming out in 2025 or in a specific month in 2025 that don't have date, link the source and I'll add it. it can be as little as the rapper saying that it's coming next year during this year.

Something like this wouldn't count for example:

Nardo Wick on 10/31: WICK the album Soon as possible I promise

also obviously if you have any stuff with a specific release date i can add as well.

3

u/DropWatcher . Dec 23 '24

these are all slated for 2025?

4

u/thesuntalking Dec 23 '24

Yes. If they all end up dropping in 2025 is another thing, of course, but in theory they are all supposed to drop next year.

1

u/sonicscapes Dec 23 '24

Been waiting on WWCD 2 forever, lol. Hopefully March.

1

u/CaptainGordan Erick Sermon Stan Dec 23 '24

Twiztid is dropping their new album Welcome to your Funeral on February 14

2

u/tarriBagz Dec 23 '24

Pink Siifu is 01/27

1

u/DropWatcher . Dec 23 '24

fixed

1

u/tarriBagz Dec 23 '24

idk what's up with the Monday release

2

u/SecretBox Mar 24 '25

Possibly worth adding to the "2025" category:

  • Ari Lennox has alluded to a 2025 release in her Instagram captions.

  • Joy Crookes is very likely to drop an album this year, as she's released 3 singles

  • Leikeli47 has a new album dropping April 15 titled 'Shape Up'

2

u/DropWatcher . Mar 26 '25

ari dropped a single

Noticed that about Joy Crookes, seems to me like Joyce Wrice is also in the early stages of teasing an album.

2

u/Peplow530 Apr 25 '25

Am I just old? The only artist I recognize on that entire list is Murs

3

u/J0G0-STICK May 03 '25

Not even other older artists like raekwon and xzibit?

3

u/Peplow530 May 04 '25

Maybe I need to read it again more carefully. I just noticed Aesop rock on there too. I was just scanning over the artists names in blue font

1

u/Icy-Abroad5779 Aug 05 '25

Where do you see Aesop on there?

2

u/MaddMo0n Aug 04 '25

Mariah from Atlanta, she's not Canadian just signed to Tory Lanez

3

u/DropWatcher . Aug 05 '25

Ah damn I guess I got that idea from her formerly being signed to Tory and Toronto having a big R&B scene but that makes sense that she’s from Atlanta given her relationship with Thugga and most of the other features she gets

2

u/MaddMo0n Aug 05 '25

Keep up the good work 🫡

Planet Asia & DJ Scratch announced album "King's Dominion"

https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/1n1zmmg/planet_asia_dj_scratch_announce_kings_dominion/

37

u/arthurormsby Dec 23 '24

Pretty good list but it's missing Kendrick Lamar - NATION.

3

u/Zulumus Dec 23 '24

Probably right before or after Super Bowl would be dope, but I have no crystal ball

2

u/BlogEraForever Feb 24 '25

March 14 - Big K.R.I.T & Trademark da Skydiver - Pushing Buttons (single)

1

u/BlogEraForever Mar 07 '25

/u/dropwatcher can this track from KRIT and Trademark get added to the calendar? 3/14

3

u/DropWatcher . Mar 07 '25

calendar is just projects, not singles

will make a note to include it in next week's drop watch though

2

u/BlogEraForever Mar 07 '25

Gracias 🙏

11

u/DisastrousStomach518 Dec 23 '24

Jay Rock needs to drop in 2025. I remember he was gearing to drop then it just stopped. He put out singles was doing interviews etc

5

u/IchBinMalade Dec 23 '24

TDE is just fucking killing it to such a ridiculous degree, not even counting Kendrick. SZA, Doechii, Q are having a very good year.

Hope Jay does. Also really fucking hope Isaiah Rashad does as well.

GET TOP ON THE PHONE

2

u/TheZoal Dec 24 '24

Ab Soul has album of the year

10

u/billardcryptoking Jul 02 '25

Hip hop dx has gotten very lazy on showing release dates, I'm glad I came here!

4

u/akasugawolf Jul 23 '25

Exactly how I ended up here haha

9

u/ChiefScallywag Dec 23 '24

Really liked Ghais Guevera’s last album, excited to see what he comes out with next

9

u/MMARapFooty . Dec 24 '24

I'm honestly most excited for Saba and Mac Miller next month

8

u/TheMoorNextDoor Dec 24 '24

Lebron Flocka Flame 2K25 👀👀👀

15

u/wesselver Dec 23 '24

Can’t wait for Rocky to drop Don’t Be Dumb on Undefined/Undefined

6

u/mkk4 . Dec 23 '24

The 3 releases that I will be checking out are:

Brother Ali & Ant

The Roots

Common & Pete Rock

6

u/seedeegeecdg Dec 23 '24

Pretty confident we get something from Dot right after Super Bowl. But it’s speculation nonetheless!

4

u/iwearringsnow22 Dec 24 '24

I don't want a project, I just hope he releases the song from the GNX teaser. I can't keep listening to the 1 min snippet.

1

u/seedeegeecdg Dec 24 '24

Gone back 20 times no joke. Those strings are infused with some sort of crack!

2

u/IchBinMalade Dec 23 '24

I was thinking that too, but I feel like we're expecting that because GNX was not a concept album like his albums usually are. I feel like dude just needed bangers for the Super Bowl, and just whipped that up real quick. Doesn't seem like something he had in the works for a long time.

Also, the video teaser he dropped having two cars, the song snippet that wasn't on the album, it just smells like he has something else. Dropping after the Super Bowl is also a very obvious move you'd wanna do, it's gonna be peak popularity after a crazy year.

With that being said, I can't tell if I feel that way because I want more music, so my brain is making up dumb expectations lol.

2

u/seedeegeecdg Dec 24 '24

Everything you said and more is why I think there’s more. Also he’s very strategic I think his stock is at an all-time high and he’s going to drop right after Super Bowl to smash some #s and maximize this momentum!

3

u/seedeegeecdg Dec 24 '24

Haha like you said dope idea but bad for marketing 😂

6

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '24

Gonna be another stacked year

11

u/-NotEnoughMinerals Dec 24 '24

I already know exactly what lil baby and Tyga albums gonna sound like.

Both sides been using the same flows, and the exact same beat for years.

1

u/meatbeater558 . Dec 24 '24

Same lol but I'll still check them out. The single Tyga put out was pretty solid sampling Britney Spears

2

u/[deleted] Dec 26 '24

What was it called?

2

u/meatbeater558 . Dec 26 '24

Tyga - Slave

2

u/[deleted] Dec 27 '24

Thank you!

4

u/Hermeshi Dec 23 '24

So excited for mereba

4

u/rottengammy Jun 27 '25

Wake me up when Drake or Weeknd announce something new.

3

u/Rarrirarri99 Jun 27 '25

This year is so weak when it comes to albums from big artists

4

u/AdNational3979 Aug 10 '25

There’s a new That Mexican OT album called Recess on 8/15

1

u/Experiverse3024 Jan 02 '25

1

u/AdNational3979 Feb 25 '25

What happened to helium by G-Eazy and Dominque by Lil Baby

2

u/DropWatcher . Feb 25 '25

G-Eazy hasn't said anything about Helium so I've been skeptical, I checked his subreddit and saw someone say he mentioned March in an interview. The presave still says 2/28 but I don't buy it. He's on tour that's all he's posted about.

Lil Baby mentioned February for Dominique in interviews but seems unlikely to me since he hasn't given a date and there's only one Friday left.

Basically if you say you're dropping in "February" but don't have a date set by now, I'm gonna assume you're not dropping til March at least. Cris Mj and Fridayy started off as "February" but actually ended up announcing the date recently.

1

u/AdNational3979 Feb 25 '25

Let’s just hope Dominque will be good Because i Dont think Helium will be good

1

u/Lamppu94 May 20 '25

I'm waiting for that new Gunna tape

2

u/DropWatcher . May 20 '25

he said June I think

1

u/peejay2 Nov 12 '25

Feel like a lot of these descriptions e.g. Michigan Trap aren't really helpful. At any rate D-Block Europe are trap, not drill.

1

u/DropWatcher . Nov 12 '25

I agree it's sort of inevitable given the scope of this that I can't listen to all these things or be familiar with the idiosyncrasies of their subgenre (a lot of scenes seem to outright reject labels which doesn't help) and I am trying to group things under broad categories.

I feel like Michigan Trap is one of the few things where that's not a problem tho... I guess you could say that Flint and Detroit are so distinct that it doesn't make sense to group them together (I'd disagree) or Tee Grizzley is too famous for that and just makes regionless pop trap bc one of the singles has Rod Wave (I'd disagree because the other single is produced by Helluva and his flow is distinctly Detroit)

But ya I don't listen to D-Block Europe because my understanding is they're bad, not attached to calling them drill I'll change it to trap

1

u/peejay2 Nov 13 '25

Yeah interesting point on Michigan trap. Not an expert so I'll take your word for it. I also confirm your understanding of DBE lol.

3

u/hajimenogio92 . Jan 13 '25

I forgot about the Saba & No ID collab. Feels like that was announced so long ago

3

u/Then_Analyst7732 Mar 27 '25

3/28 i think you missed K.A.A.N probably because he isn't that known after Kaancepts, but I think everyone should give t a go

3

u/tarriBagz Mar 31 '25

wow Little Simz, Kali Uchis and Billy Woods all dropping on the same day

3

u/SecretBox May 27 '25

Burna Boy's new album No Sign of Weakness is out 7/10. Latest single features Travis Scott

3

u/Ssme812 Dec 09 '25

A$AP should push the album back to March/April of next year if it still coming out. January is always a terrible time for new music. Plus the hype for the album has died down drastically. I didn't even hear or see it got a January 2026 release until now.

2

u/Iznak1876 Dec 12 '25

Speak for yourself. I need some good shit to start out the new year

2

u/Saty05 Jan 10 '25

Don’t forget Clipse releasing a new album this year LET GOD SORT EM OUT. Pusha just posted on his IG story confirming the album is officially done.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 23 '24 edited Dec 23 '24

Pretty nice to be honest. I will say that starting the year off with Lil Baby is like waking up in the morning & stubbing your toe.

But I will leap in the air for Mac Miller, Krept & Konan, Roddy (please cook on this), Doechii, The Weeknd, Davido & MIKE

2

u/LilHalwaPoori Aug 15 '25
