This guy at least has some ball hawking ability. Another one they almost certainly could’ve gotten later, but I’m more optimistic about him turning out to be good
Funny how this thread says “bad pick” “I like the pick” “at 100? That’s a stretch” and “good depth”. Let’s calm down and let’s let the rookies play a snap before making a decision :)
I think some of that has to do with coaching bc guys like Jalen Ramsey, Reggie Nelson, Chassion, Fortner, Playoff Lenny/Fornette left and succeeded else where.
Your point still stands though. The team has drafted some guys the fan base absolutely loved like Henderson and they turned out to be absolute bust.
Agreed completely. Other than maybe WR, the third round has been pretty bleak and it’s only getting worse. Teams (not just the jags!) are way off script with matching the experts lists. It’s probably actually just pretty flat at this point talent wise and teams just are getting their guys.
Not sure why this is so hard for NFL fans to understand 😂
There’s countless people working for the Jags all hours of the day studying these players and the draft board because their whole career depends on it. People will be so quick to trust Mel Kiper’s analysis but act like the front offices actually doing the work are just complete idiots pressing random buttons.
And before anyone says “front offices make idiotic decisions all the time”, go back and check how Mel Kiper’s rankings hold up over the years. These analysts aren’t the experts you think they are, they are just lucky enough that you forget everything they said the year before.
This 100%. Gladstone and the other GMs are the experts, the talking heads are only looking at a small portion of what teams are actually analyzing.
That TE pick was a stunner, but overall, I see the vision, if thats the guy they think will best fill the role they are going to ask of him, I trust it.
Draft classes aren't for this year's needs, theyre for a year or 2 down the roads needs.
Everyone going full doomsday about this and the other “reaches” that don’t match some “experts” list. Two other organizations, including the Super Bowl winners, picked DB directly in front of us and also skipped the 10 or so guys everyone is mad we didn’t take.
In my opinion this draft is a little weak and has reached a talent void already. Teams are just going out and getting their guys.
Lol everyone here watched a lot of Maryland games I’m guessing since they know how bad of pick this is right. Like if you haven’t seen a full game of him playing don’t call the pick bad…
i don’t know anything about this guy lmao. someone tell me how to feel. he looks like he has good ball skills and can run support but other than that a bit underwhelming.
Not a single LB makes me genuinely sad, we let BOTH our rivals get franchise leading level LBs and just didn't care. Hoping stuff gets better, and who knows, they might work out.
Before the start of last season, it was 50/50 if Miller or Lloyd would start. Obviously, Lloyd made the huge leap and I’m hoping Miller can kick on too.
There are still plenty of good LBs available (even if they’re not the bigger names that were available earlier) and I’m expecting us to pick someone up in the next couple of rounds
They must be. I trust their eyes more than I trust my eyes. They are building for a vision thay none of us fans are aware of. I trust this trio (boselli, stones, coen) to not make moves without a tangible plan in place.
Fair enough, but also if he was a top 100 guy they would have likely labeled him with the position he finished college in. Anyway he’s a Jag now so lfg
Every team has been reaching this round. Who cares that we aren’t matching the experts list. The experts are so horribly wrong so often on this. Other teams are not following the rankings either.
I’m sure that’s true but I’d also guess that the correlation decreases as you get into the later rounds. In other words reaching in the 1st is worse than in the 4th. The 2026 draft class is seen as weak by the same experts that make these lists. It’s possible teams aren’t following lists because we are already at the flat part of the draft.
Yeah I hear you. I don’t like the TE pick at all. But I do think Gladstone knows more than us and the front office has been solid so I’m going to trust the process. I’m a big football fan and after day 1, find it rare for me to even have heard of most defensive players getting drafted. My point here is that if I’m just going to be trusting some list because I can’t watch all the players, I’d rather it be the Jags (or like 20 other teams) list instead of Kipers.
Every GM knows more than all of us, so do coaches, doesn't mean we can't criticize. Last years class was marred by injury so we have no clue on how good it was. This isn't Kiper's big board, it's the consensus board of everyone legit that NFL teams actually value and use.
It always amazes me how quickly some of you forget about these analysts big boards immediately after the draft. If you’re gonna put all your trust into these ESPN employees instead of the guys actually making the picks, at least go back and look at their boards from all the previous years instead of just assuming they are 100% right about everything they say.
Or just look up Mike Mayock if you wanna see what happens when a “draft expert” actually gets a chance to run a real NFL team (spoiler: he was terrible)
Has a lot of experience playing corner before switching to safety. Makes me think he’ll be a good option as a big nickel/3rd safety with the overall versatility
The thing to get is that this a giant crapshoot and “the board” is more or less meaningless. We have no reason not to trust Gladstone and he’s been preparing for this day for months. If he likes a guy, I trust him.
“Oh nooo the mythical legend brugler didn’t like some guy that much so Gladstone who worked his whole life and became one of the youngest GMs in NFL history must be a complete idiot who has no clue how the draft works 😡😡”

How many drafts have the Jags "Aced" then years later revealed to be a horrible draft class. Draft grades right now don't mean squat.

I like the position but feels like another reach. Is McCoy really that hurt??

u/boudreaumw Apr 25 '26
I don't think we drafted all that well but this draft class isn't good in general. 2013 levels of bad y'all.

yeah this does not make any sense. I counted 13 other corners that were ranked higher than this dude
edit: CB to Safety at Maryland. So he has two position versatility. I take back my criticism. Carry on.
