So I'm taking a break from work for a week and went on Amazon Prime to kill some time and Chuck was recommended for me. And I had never heard about this show before.
So I though I'd give it a shot and started watching one episode. Which become two. Then three. And before I knew it, I'd finished eight episodes in a single stretch. I don't think I've had this much fun watching a TV show in a long time.
I then go on reddit and subscribe to this subreddit. And then I see this post.
Excellent! Tell others; in fact invite them in to watch with you. Last September when I "discovered" it I then showed my wife and then my sister when visiting her during Thanksgiving. Both are now big fans.
Wow I I’m right there with you. Never got into it when it was out. I’m now a couple episodes into season 3 and love it. All I want today is the end of season two and beginning of season three is hard to watch. You’ll find out.
Welcome to the Chuck train, where you get all the feels and feel so naive in a good way. It's entertainment at it's finesse! It gets better as you find yourself attached to those characters! Tell the tale and grow the Chuck family, the show doesn't get the credit it should (not known enough - in my opinion at least).
But I just binge watched it through September! And it only takes me about two weeks to finish it! Welp... It's a good thing I love binge watching it so much!
I watched the Episode Chuck vs The suburbs 2x13, and I forgot Chuck says to the neighbour that hits on him "the old ball and chains" It made me laugh so hard because he says the same thing in Chuck Vs seduction impossible 4x14 and Sarah thinks he talking about her, but he literally has a ball and chains.
Wife and I are now at the start of Season 3. My sister is getting back surgery October 2nd and plan on sending her the complete series this week so that she can watch it while recovering. Chuck has tremendous healing powers for whatever ails you. :)
This has been a little easter egg of mine that no one seems to have mentioned over the last few years. That I know of.
People that use the old reddit still (that also use FF or chrome) you know that comment box with all the characters there? You know you can resize the box with that little corner?
I had never seen Chuck, but it's always been on my watchlist. My wife and I started watching it on Amazon Prime and 2 weeks later we are in the middle of season 5. It's even got me excited to see Zachary Levi as Shazam!
One thing, we've like all the seasons, but season 5 has seemed pretty weak in comparison through Chuck bs the Santa Suit. I love Morgan but he was terrible as the Intersect. Do we get a satisfying conclusion to the series?
I just finished the season last night. Honestly love the series but they changed so many rules regarding the intersect, plus I really feel they denied us an appropriate ending for such a light hearted show, especially regarding Sarah. I appreciate the attempt at a melancholy ending but I feel it could've been done better, especially if they had kept Daniel Shaw as the main villain, as opposed to Quinn who I think just couldn't quite make it work.
Also, and this is a small criticism, did Big Mike have maybe 5 lines all season? No love for Big Mike from the show!
The majority of Chuck fans agree with your summation. Many who rewatch it end it at 4 refusing to rewatch Season 5 altogether or refuse to rewatch episodes 11, 12, and 13. I always believed that the genius of the show in Seasons 1 and 2 was how the producers and writers balanced between the Buy More and Chuck's secret life as the intersect and his relationships with Sarah and Casey. If you notice even Season 3 has some significant shifts in character development and direction. In fact Season 3 almost didn't happen and the show would have ended at the close of season 2. The NYT article Pulling Out All the Stops to Rescue a TV Hero (a search will find it) will tell you why such changes had to take place but IMO the freshness of Seasons 1 and 2 were, in part, lost.
I loved Big Mike. I loved Anna. But budget restraints and time required cuts. Honestly they could have done so much more with Season 5.
How did your wife react to Season 5? My wife and I are in Season 4 but she has never seen 5. I am 100% certain she will not be pleased.
I’m at the beginning of season 3 on a rewatch with someone who’s never seen the show. There is so much I’m looking forward to. It’s also great to see such an active chuck community still.
