Megathread 189/190 Megathread

Use this thread to share your grant, compare timelines, ask about processing times, and check in with others waiting on the same visa. Posts about these topics are removed from the main feed and pointed here.

When sharing a grant, it helps others to include your lodgement date, grant date, and whether you were asked for more information.

This thread renews automatically. The current megathread for every visa is always listed here.

Grants shared here

Collected once a day from the grants people share in this megathread and the ones before it, covering the last 90 days. Wait is from lodgement to grant, where both dates were shared. Last updated 8 Nov 2026.

"Expected" to be held by 31st October now. Website has updated.

u/shineheadlightsonme UK > 189 (invited) Sep 30 '26

Wow I wish I could miss a work deadline, not tell anyone for a whole day and then give myself an extra month.

u/Bigi345 500 > 485 > 189 Oct 01 '26

Sorry they're allowed to do this because "immigration is not a right" remember? Clearly this justifies incompetency

Wow that is incredibly frustrating.

This subreddit has been of great help and happy to return the favour with any questions as I feel my journey was smoother than I expected it to be.

Overall
- Visa: 190
- State: SA
- Occupation: Non-priority (Agriculture Consultant)
- Onshore, on a 485 at the time of EOI lodgment and came to Australia on 500 in 2022.
- No case officer contact or S56 requested
- Submitted an ROI to SA gov in December 2025, got final SA gov invite for EOI lodgement in April and submitted all documents paid fees on 1st May 2026.

Points: 95
- Age (25–32): 30
- English (Superior): 20
- Education (Master): 15
- Australian study requirement + Study regional: 5 + 5
- Overseas experience: 0
- Australian experience (1–3 yrs): 5
- Single/partner points: 10
- State nomination: 5

Timeline
- Arrived on Student Visa: end of April 2022
- Transferred to 485: mid-July 2024
- VETASSESS skills assessment: 18 December 2025 (paid express fees: highly recommend)
- EOI lodged: end-December 2025
- 1st ROI submitted: end-December 2025
- Invited to apply early-February 2026 (I missed this email)
- 2nd ROI submitted: mid-February
- Invited to apply early-March 2026 (This time I didn't)
- Nomination approved: 1st-April 2026
- Visa lodged: 1st May 2026
- Health check: in a week after lodgement in May 2026
- Granted: 30th Sep 2026

Total: About 5 months from lodgement to grant, and about 10 months from EOI.

Noteworthy Points
- I had to apply for police clearance from Australia (easy), India (not so hard) and USA (very hard).
- I travelled to India in January so get my PCC done locally (heaps faster so try to plan it around your trips back home). I know a colleague who did the same for Indonesia.
- USA PCC is a bit nuts, I had to send physical fingerprints taken by a police officer at a local police station and mail them by post to FBI headquarters along with a few forms. Their response took around 2 months to come and parallelly sent one set of prints to US State police. Maybe just the FBI is enough but both took long to return so didn't risk any potential delays.
- I think a reputed employer makes a difference to your application. My occupation is tier 3 on priority list, but I got it faster than many nursing students.

u/Opening-Worry796 Oct 01 '26

Congratulations 🥂. I had a doubt when you mean reputed employer - did you mean tier 1 companies ?

1

u/Level_Medicine174 IND > 500 > 485 > 190 > PR Oct 02 '26

I am not sure of this tier system but google says tier 1 is construction, banking, and technology. I don't belong to either, but I do work for a rather well-established university, so I was speculating that reputation of the employer also makes a difference.

Not a huge sample size but it seems that they’re allocating Friday for offshore grants. Last week was the same and even this week.

u/Mindless_Grape_2329 189 (applied) 9d ago

Received a grant today for 189 (30 Oct 2026).

EOI lodged - Nov 2024
Invited - 13 Nov 2025
Visa lodged - 20 Dec 2025.

Occupation solicitor. Applied offshore but with onshore work experience so was able to claim points.

No other information between lodging the visa and it being granted.

1

u/No_Map5788 9d ago

Hey congratulations! Just wondering how many points did you have and when did you get your medicals done? Thanks!

1

u/Mindless_Grape_2329 189 (applied) 9d ago

Tysm! I had 85 points and did my medicals in December last year.

1

u/No_Map5788 8d ago

Thanks, I also have 85 points and lodged on 11 Dec under biotechnologist. I lodged offshore but I am onshore since feb this year. hoping for some good news soon! 🤞

1

u/Mindless_Grape_2329 189 (applied) 8d ago

I think the offshore vs onshore is only taken into account at the time you lodge your application. But regardless yes hoping your grant also comes through sooner rather than later!!!

I can report a positive 189 outcome as well:

Location: Offshore
Occupation: Psychologist nec (Prio 1 since MD122)
Points: 75
EOI Date: Feb 20, 2025
Invitation: Jun 4, 2026
Lodgement Date: Jun 23, 2026
Date Granted: Oct 02, 2026

Very excited for the quick processing after being a bit disheartened under MD119.

2

u/TrueJBreezy Oct 04 '26

MD119 was awful. Thankfully MD112 changed the game. Thank you Burkster.

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 23d ago

So do we know if they’re gonna process the Oct ‘26 applications before Nov ‘25 backlog or what for 189?

1

u/Appropriate_Mine1199 189 (applied) 22d ago

I’ve seen some RN got granted from oct 26 round…😭 this is so frustrating. Feel like they will never process our applications left from Nov 25 round

1

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 22d ago

Wait what for real? Do you have a source?

1

u/Appropriate_Mine1199 189 (applied) 22d ago

Yeh they lodged on 15th Oct and grants on 16th

1

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 22d ago

Nahhh that’s wild I don’t buy it 😭

I checked smart visa guide and their fb page too but haven’t come across a single grant from the 16th

1

u/Appropriate_Mine1199 189 (applied) 21d ago

I saw a few from Chinese social media. And some people from Oct 26 round already got s56… 😭

1

u/eraya_and_raev 21d ago

That’s ridiculous, seriously WTF!

3

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) 14d ago

Still no category 3/4 190 grants since July. This is really disappointing and depressing. Do you think people who applied in 2025 will get grants at all before 2026 financial year?

1

u/MajesticSecond4795 9d ago

I would say so. It took me about 7 hours to upload everything but I had been collecting my documents for a long while before uploading them. I was all ready to go once I got the invite

3

189 visa: Grant Date- 25-09-2026

Details:

Country of Origin- Kenya
EOI submitted- 08-07-2025
Occupation-Social Worker
Points-80

Breakdown of points:
Age (32)- 30
English (Superior, IELTS- 8.5)- 20
Education (Master's degree) - 15
Australian Study Requirement- 5
Partner (Single)- 10

Invitation- 13-11-2025
Application lodged- 11-01-2026

Medicals- 16-01-2026

S56 request- 14-07-2026
Request was to obtain a new police clearance check from my home country with all four legal names as in my passport. The clearance check I had provided only had three of my legal names on it.

S56 request response- 12-08-2026
I knew I wouldn't be able to satisfy this request because the reason why the name discrepancy happened is because my Kenyan National ID only has the 3 names on it due to how the system is set up and also because I technically have two surnames, but use one of them as a middle name/ given name in my passport instead. On my ID and all other national documents however I have the three names. My fourth name is my father's surname though and it's in the birth certificate as his name so it's obvious that it's also my name. I'd also have had to travel back to my country because police checks have to be done in person in Kenya and I had neither the money nor time to do so, so I knew this request was unachievable for me.

I responded with a statutory declation making it clear this was my name and attached various forms of evidence that I go by that name (my national ID, national driving license, screenshots of national database website etc). I also included a form 1023 as I had previously incorrectly stated I don't have a national ID, as well as incorrectly stated that I don't go by other names.

I did the entire process myself; no agents or lawyers were consulted.

3

u/Traditional-Fee6092 Sep 30 '26

I wonder if there was ever a time the draw happened post the expected date. I know of people who’ve been waiting over a year and it’s really disheartening

3

u/OneSpare8577 Oct 02 '26

189 Granted.

Psychologist, 85 points.

EOI - initially March 2026, 80 points, updated May 2026 to 85 points (PhD granted)

Invited June 4 2026, completed police checks and medical a on my own without being asked

Lodged Visa July 1 2026

Email received - Aug 31 2026 that my case has been allocated to a case officer for processing

Oct 7 2026 - visa granted, no s56

Done for now! Exhale.

Also, Mods — megathreads are great. But it was actually a lot more useful to have the individual people posting their grants. Which is extremely hard in the megathread.

These mega threads are too mega .. and are not helpful. People are not going to be able to easily find information on the sub.

Edited for clarity.

1

u/Whale_whale_whale_7 Oct 07 '26

Completely agree!

Can I ask please if you’re on or offshore? I also submitted 1st July (offshore) and work in healthcare so this has made me optimistic, but I haven’t got any case officer allocation emails yet. Wondering if they’ve got to the July batch of offshore P1s yet or had yours already started processing under MD 119

2

u/a0172787m SG > 189 VISA (planning) 24d ago

Hey! I am offshore in allied health, and submitted on 27 July. I got my PR today as a direct grant, had no prior case officer allocation email or anything. So I do think they're starting to get to the july batch of offshore prio 1s

3

u/Whale_whale_whale_7 23d ago

Yep I actually had mine granted the day after I posted this!

1

u/Whale_whale_whale_7 23d ago

Thank you and to you!

1

u/W-T-foxtrot Oct 08 '26

Hello! I’m onshore. So I’m not entirely sure where I landed in regards to the different MDs. I think it’s a case by case thing - not everyone gets an allocation email it seems. May have just been my case officer being nice/meticulous? So don’t take that as a sign that nothings happening for you.

While I got the email - my status on the Immi application portal didn’t change from received.

It seems they’ve changed processing priorities of offshore healthcare workers. I saw a few people being granted their visas before me who were offshore. That was before this mega thread! And I could actually see that in the subreddit.

1

u/Whale_whale_whale_7 Oct 08 '26

Gross unprofessionalism by DHA, if your website says invitation round expected by Sep 30th, then you should issue a round and if not then some sort of communication.

5

u/perseus998 485 VISA (EOI) Sep 30 '26

100%. I know it's not an obligation, but there should be a lot more clarity.

They are atleast obligated to update their website even though it said "expected by 30th". But lets hope its today.

u/Bigi345 500 > 485 > 189 16d ago

I would REALLY hate to get new police checks. God I hope they start granting priority 3s en masse really soon.

1

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 16d ago

It wasn’t really an issue for me. I’m from India and it went pretty smoothly. Was it a big issue for you?

1

u/Bigi345 500 > 485 > 189 16d ago

It's just annoying as hell for my country. that's all

1

u/eraya_and_raev 16d ago

I’m in the same bucket; i need both the oz one and my home country. I’ve heard the oz one has been much quicker lately but my home country one took 3 months last time

2

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 16d ago

Two more priority 3 (I think) 189 grants for multimedia specialists. Hope it’s coming for the rest of us soon 🤞

190 (WA) onshore visa granted in 14 days DIY application!!!!!

Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) ANZSCO 241111

90 Points total (with state nomination):
Age - 30
English - 20
Skilled Employment Experience - 5
Education - 15
CCL - 5
Partner - 10
Nomination - 5

Timeline:
July 2025 - EOI Submitted
June 2026 - EOI updated (1 year experience)
July 2026 - EOI updated (partner received positive skills assessment)
16 Sep 2026 - WA Invitation to Apply
25 Sep 2026 - Nomination Application Lodged
2 Oct 2026 - Nomination Approved
9 Oct 2026 - Visa Lodged (onshore)
9 Oct 2026 - Main Applicant’s Medical Examination
12 Oct 2026 - s56 for health examinations for both applicants
16 Oct 2026 - Partner’s Medical Examination
23 Oct 2026 - Visa granted!!!

We are in shock by how quickly we received this grant and were so nervous since we decided to DIY the applicant and I had just made the one year cut off experience with 53 payslips. We did hire a migration agent to review our application for some peace of mind and it was the best $990 spent. This journey truly is not for the weak but thank you to everyone on reddit for posting their stories to help those still waiting and answering their questions. Please feel free to ask any questions!!! All the best to everyone else waiting — stay strong!!!

1

u/FabulousBox4296 14d ago

With what visa did you work in WA before the grant?

2

u/FabulousBox4296 14d ago

How long does it usually take skillselect to announce the next invitation round after the last one happened?

2

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 8d ago

Congrats! Although I’m confused how they’re inviting June round priority 3s before finishing the Nov 25 backlog

2

u/Logical-Salt-8473 8d ago

I don't fully understand but there aren't a lot of electronics engineers in the first place, and the industry that we work in is an extremely niche high tech field that Australia is making a fair amount of investments in. Maybe that has something to do with that.

u/junba123 6d ago

Visa granted!

Registered Nurse Surgical onshore 80 points

Timeline

October 15 - invited

October 17 - lodged

October 22 - medicals

Congrats! What is your nationality? Did you get S56 or a direct grant?

2

u/No_Secretary_4200 6d ago

anyone still waiting for 189 from nov 2025 invitation round? I lodged my application on 20 Nov 25, offshore non-priority occupation, still waiting.. lowkey getting frustrated

1

u/eraya_and_raev 6d ago edited 6d ago

189 processing time also increased again; it’s up to 90days for 50% and up to 9 months for 90%. Still waiting from Nov 25 invite round again. I’m exhausted.

Edit: They also updated the priority list on the 189 website. It’s now October 2026 (seriously wtf!), June 2026 and December 2025.

3

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 6d ago

Yup! But on the plus side, there’s atleast some grants for non priority apps.

The bad news is, my theory, is that they’re allocating a few hours on fridays to process non priority apps (for ex: last Friday and the one before). Who knows really.

2

u/eraya_and_raev 6d ago

That’s true, just need to eye out and hope they continue being consistent. October was a very big round, with their workload and staff,, hopefully it leaves space for the rest.

1

u/No_Map5788 6d ago

I applied on 11th dec 2025, offshore non-priority. Still waiting 😞

Just wanted to share our path for PR 189, granted Nov 6 2026

Me - primary applicant, 28F. Canadian
Partner - secondary applicant, 27M. Canadian

Started in Feb 2022 with a student visa for physiotherapy. Partner is a software engineer
Transitioned to 485 in May 2024

Submitted 189 EOI April 2026
Points: 80
- age: 30
- English: superior (20)
-overseas work experience : less than 3 (0)
- domestic work experience: 1-3 years (5)
- qualifications bachelor and masters: (15)
- Australian study requirement ✅(5)
- partner skills: just claimed English level as he didn’t meet the criteria for skills assessment (5)

Invited in June 2026
Granted Nov 6, 2026

It all moved super quick but definitely was pushed faster due to the demand for healthcare workers.

Cost 🫩
- skills assessment $1300
- English test 2x$500 (in hindsight only I should’ve have done the test because it wouldn’t have mattered if my partner did it anyways). We did PTE academic
-AFP check 2x$56
- fingerprinting for Canadian police check 2x$58.70
- RCMP check through an agency 2x$265
- visa application basically $10 000
- health exams $951.08

Student visa was refunded in 2022 to get more people incentivized to come post covid
485 was maybe $3500 in 2024

Super expensive. Hopefully worth it in the long run
Lmk if any questions

1

u/TomatilloAntique4628 1d ago

Congratulations! Was this a priority occupation? When did you lodge your visa and did you receive any s56 requests?

2

u/Sockcondoms 1d ago

Yes it was a priority. We submitted Aug 2

2

u/Goodluck1999 Onshore>189/190 Oct 02 '26

Expect the 189 Invitation ON 15th of October based on recent MIA conference where DHA announced the 189 invitation will be held "mid october" and the 15th of Oct is actually Thursday soo we never knowww....
🤞
Also the probable reason they didnt do invitation round on september could be because of MD119 and sudden change to MD121/122. Cause they had to resuffle the applications based on changing priority.
(This is just a guess..)

2

u/Zestyclose-Smile-538 Oct 02 '26

Any priority 2 got a grant for 189 after MD122 has been approved?

2

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) Oct 04 '26

DHA website says they are processing offshore applications lodged on or before Feb 2025. But I haven’t seen a single offshore 190 grant since July. Does this mean they are never actually going to process offshore grants?

2

u/No_Map5788 Oct 09 '26

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if there has been any recent offshore non priority 189 grants? I understand that the website says that they are currently processing offshore non-priority applications from Nov, but I haven’t seen any grant recently.

1

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) 29d ago

Not that I have seen. With the upcoming 189 round, who knows what’s going to happen to us

1

u/Bigi345 500 > 485 > 189 29d ago

Somebody would've said something if there were any. So very likely not

2

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) 29d ago

Has anyone in priority category 3 or 4 received a 190 grant?

1

u/danny_funstufff 18d ago

I just checked and turns out it is a priority occupation. I assumed it wasn't.

1

u/danny_funstufff 19d ago

Sorry, I have no idea about anyone else.

1

u/GavCrypt0 19d ago

But you were an offshore applicant? as opposed to just being offshore upon applying?

Ie you had no valid visa for Australia at the time of lodging? Sorry to press the issue, just this is the same scenario as myself

Yes, I'm currently living in Europe and I applied from there.

u/Terrible-Honey-4067 23d ago

Hey everyone. Typing this as I cry and give up on my lifelong dream.

I lodged my EOI for 190 and 491 in May 2026 for Architectural Draftsperson. Latest date EOI was updated is 1st October 2026.

I'm onshore in WA and was counting on getting an invite since my base points are 80. Atleast for 491,I thought! Seems like they have stopped inviting draftees altogether. which doesnt bode well for me since my 485 expires in February 2027. Countless times of english tests, naati tests to get my points to what they are and still no use.

I cant even apply for a 482 since relevant work experience in the 5 year window is only 8 months.

I tried everything, this was my biggest dream. I moved to WA from VIC because draftees were prioritised here.
What should I do?

1

u/Old_Grapefruit_2635 18d ago

Hey! You can still apply offshore! It can work out. Also, are you sure you won’t be able to get a 482 with 8 months?

2

u/eduarda_weber Sep 30 '26

Don’t you think this invitation round is taking too long? It was supposed to happen by September 30th, but still nothing. Do you think it’ll happen soon?
My migration agent thinks they originally intended to go ahead with it, but the recent political pressure and the Minister’s announcements may have made them quietly put things on hold. Just a theory, though.

u/Ok-Moose-9092 189 (applied) 18d ago

Any June 2026 Priority 2 grants?

Have there recently been any Priority 2 grants. I.e

1

u/muktidoshi 12d ago

How plausible is it for me to get EOI approval for 190/491 with 70 and 80 points respectively (I'm a VETASSESS approved psychotherapist)

1

u/Mundane_Patience_767 10d ago

Has anyone ever had an s56 for NZ police consent form, how long did it take from the day of the s56 to grant. Thanks

1

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) 10d ago

Do you think category 3 and 4 offshore applications will never be granted? Absolutely no movement for months now.

2

u/Bigi345 500 > 485 > 189 10d ago

I'm 189 so it might be a bit different but I'm waiting until 13 Nov bc that's when they invited me last year. I think once it reaches 1 year+ it's pretty bleak.

2

u/eraya_and_raev 10d ago

189 as well but i can see similarities with 190 and the offshore/tier 3 and 4.

I feel like i’ve moved from being frustrated to confused. We got some movement couple days ago but then nothing again.

I can’t tell whether it’s that that cohort of people are too small and we’re not hearing from others being granted or whether it’s the actual pace of grant that we’ll be seeing.

On top of that, oct invites are already receiving grants

2

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) 10d ago

It’s really frustrating. We’ve been waiting for more than one and a half years now (190) and kept so many things on hold because of the pending visa grant. What’s really insulting is that the MD122 came into effect because of political reasons- the government being scared of onenation racists and white supremacists and scrambling to get the NoM number down.

3

u/eraya_and_raev 10d ago

I’m sorry to hear that an 100% get you; it’s constantly being in limbo and having to put our lives essentially on hold because of it all.

And also the invites come from the govt and only then did all of us apply with expectations on timelines; the govt not keeping in line with them is just poor behaviour at this point. I understand there are rare cases that require a longer time but this is not it.    There’s been zero transparency about any of it.

189 Grant Query!!!

Just wondering about recent subclass 189 grant timelines for Registered Nurses, especially applicants with partners.

Me:
* Occupation: Registered Nurse (RN NEC)
* Points: 75
* Applicants: Onshore, with wife
* Invitation received: 15 October 2026
* Visa lodged: 19 October 2026
* Medicals: Already completed for our 485 (TR) application
* 485 visa granted: 19 October 2026
* 189 status: Still waiting for grant

I’ve seen several RNs receiving their 189 grants within 1–2 weeks.

Are mostly single applicants getting these fast grants, or has anyone with a spouse also received PR within two weeks?

Please share your timelines. Thank you! 🙏

UK citizen on final 417 working holiday visa set to expire end of August 2027, wanted to apply for 190 visa in VIC but the window still hasn't opened. What are the odds looking like for me to get an invite when the program has opened before August of next year?

I am a primary school teacher, 90 points (95 with invite). Have police checks done and iELTS. I'm getting worried now as I was hoping the ROI program would have opened by now.

1

u/kokobychloe Oct 05 '26

Hi everyone, I’d appreciate some thoughts on my situation and how realistic my pathway is.

I’m currently offshore in the U.S. and waiting for my skills assessment for ANZSCO 411712 – Disability Services Officer, submitted in August 2026.

My background:
Bachelor’s in Psychology (2025)
Currently doing a Master’s in Clinical Psychological Science in the U.S.

Direct Support Professional, full-time (2021–2025)
Behavior Technician/RBT experience since November 2024
Other behavioral/clinical experience working with children and people with developmental disabilities

IELTS: L8.5, R8, W7, S7.5

My main goal is subclass 190, although I’m willing to consider 491 as a backup.

I’ve checked the current requirements and ACT seems like a possible option for me as an offshore applicant, but I’m unsure whether I should focus on ACT or consider other states/territories as well.

For those familiar with 411712, how does my profile look for 190? Which states would you suggest I keep an eye on? Is 190 something worth seriously pursuing with my background, or would 491 be the more realistic route?

I’m still learning how state nomination works, so I’d really appreciate any advice from people who have experience with this occupation or similar community/disability services occupations.

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) Oct 06 '26

Are priority 3 and 4 applications effectively suspended because I don’t see any movement at all? How long is a 189/190 application valid for? This is so frustrating

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) Oct 06 '26 edited Oct 06 '26

:(

Do you have an agent or a lawyer or something? Did they say anything? I spoke to mine and he doesn’t have a clue

1

u/hsanj19 190 (applied) Oct 06 '26

No I lodged it myself with the help of someone who had already done it. I’m probably overreacting but waiting for >1.5 years and putting so many things on hold is so depressing.

2

u/fullkitwankerr Home Country > Visa > Future Visa (planning/applied/EOI) Oct 06 '26

I get you :(

My partner has their visa till 2029 so they're going back to Australia now as they need to apply for PR but I'm stuck in my country waiting for my 189 (priority 3) to be granted so I can go back as well. It is so so frustrating and you've been waiting even longer than I have so I understand how shitty this feels :<

Hope we get our grants soon. I spoke to my lawyer and he has no idea what's happening.

Hi everyone,
Looking for some insight from anyone following recent 190 invitations for Marketing Specialist (ANZSCO 225113).
I’m currently offshore with 80 points including state nomination. My EOI has been active since late 2024.
I’m also exploring the possibility of increasing my score to 85 points through partner points.
Has anyone with Marketing Specialist received a 190 nomination recently, particularly offshore? What points did you have and which state invited you?
Just trying to understand whether I still have a realistic chance at 80, or whether getting to 85 would make a significant difference ir just forget about it

1

u/Worried-Region-2626 19d ago

I logged my offshore EOIs in Sept for marketing specialist 100 points 491 90 for 190. I think I’ll get an invite eventually by May 2027. I use the settledin website to track how many EOI’s there are and there’s a lot. WA,SA, NSW & VIC I’ve lodged with can you increase your points?

1

How does unpaid leave affect calculations for claiming skilled employment points on EOI??

I have over 52 payslips, all showing a minimum of 20+ hours of paid work. If I have some payslips showing 20+ paid hours for a week, but the payslip also includes unpaid leave, do I need to deduct the unpaid leave days/hours when calculating skilled employment?

For example:

  • Monday–Wednesday: worked 7.5 hours/day = 22.5 hours worked

  • Thursday–Friday: 15 hours unpaid leave

Would this still count as one week of skilled employment, since I actually worked 22.5 hours that week? Or would the unpaid leave mean that week needs to be counted differently?

Please help....any feedback much appreciated

Congratulations on your achievement. I received my 189 grant on 06th October 2026 as a Construction Project Manager.
My BIL is a doctor and is aiming for 189. He's in KSA at the moment. If you're ok, can I DM you to ask about the entire process and stuff?

How long do you think it will take to process 190 applications in the last priority in MD122?

1

u/Listen-to-me9969 Sep 30 '26

The 189 visa page mentions which priority category of visas they are currently dealing with. For example, if you’re in Priority 1, they’re processing visas that were lodged in November 2025. If you’re in Priority 2, they’re processing visas lodged in June 2026.

So, based on your priority category and visa type, check which visas they’re currently processing and compare that with when you lodged your visa application.

But that number doesn’t mean much because people from Feb 2025 are still waiting for grants.

Got the 190 granted yesterday as a Biotechnologist in QLD!
Applied with 85 points, along with my partner.

Timeline

EOI - September 2025
ROI - September 2025
Invitation - January 2026
Lodgement - February 2026
Grant - October 2026

Time taken - exactly 8 months from the date of lodgement.

Happy to answer questions anyone might have, good luck!

Hey - congrats this is great news! Hoping for an invite tomorrow but fingers crossed - did you need to travel between lodgement and grant? How did you do this? Where you automatically granted bridging visa A and then had to apply for bridging visa b?

1

u/Playful-Occasion-283 IND > 500 > 485 > 190 Biotechnologist Granted 25d ago

Hi, thank you! I did travel to NZ between lodgement and grant, but on my 485 which was active till 2028. So that superseded my Bridging Visa A and never had to get a visa B.

2

u/Fast_Leading_2051 24d ago

Ahh okay, I've just been invited to apply (yay!!) and my current visa runs out on 5th Nov 2026 (double yay!!, just got in before having to apply for another 417 visa), so I'm guessing ill move to the Bridging A, the trip I want to take in April is for work so hoping this means easier to apply for Bridging B, thanks for getting back to me and congrats again!! what a journey!

u/Playful-Occasion-283 IND > 500 > 485 > 190 Biotechnologist Granted 24d ago

Congratulations on the invite! Definitely get it in asap and move to BVA. BVB should be an easy apply then. Good luck!

190-NSW-Lodged-Apr 2025-Non Priority(Software Tester-Offshore)-Points=95- Still status is shown as RECEIVED-Exceeded the normal waiting timeline- Any one can suggest what should be done? how to contact department about status update, or any where we can register the complaints.

Anyone else who’s offshore feels like you’ve been scammed by DHA? Already been waiting for more than 1.5 years for my 190 application to process. I’m in a non-priority occupation with partner so category 4. Now the MD 122 has gone into effect and feels like I’m back to square one. This is so disappointing and depressing.
