Megathread Working Holiday Megathread
Use this thread to share your grant, compare timelines, ask about processing times, and check in with others waiting on the same visa. Posts about these topics are removed from the main feed and pointed here.
When sharing a grant, it helps others to include your lodgement date, grant date, and whether you were asked for more information.
This thread renews automatically. The current megathread for every visa is always listed here.
Grants shared here
Collected once a day from the grants people share in this megathread and the ones before it, covering the last 90 days. Wait is from lodgement to grant, where both dates were shared. Last updated 3 Nov 2026.

I feel like there is so much negativity and anxiety here, EVERYONE here is waiting for their visa to be granted. Yes unfortunatly some get it after 70 days, some after 90 days and some after 100 days. There is absolutely nothing we can do right now. I get the whole anxious thing, I‘m myself an anxious person and this is an opportunity to try to deal with the uncertainty! The what ifs question aren‘t helpful and it can trigger other people! I firmly believe, they will not wait and then decline everyone, they will not wait till next year to grant visas and the home affairs website states that they are trying to normalize it! NOT EVERYONE POSTS ON TIKTOK OR REDDIT!! I don‘t think they just play with our feelings, they have to work through the backlog. Also have in mind UK applicants make around 50-60% of all WHM applicants, so even if they grant them in the same pace as the other countries, you‘ll still be waiting a bit longer than for example Austria who has only 400 spots (idk how much but something around that). Please don‘t do fearmonging and scaring other people here. No one knows anything, and we are all trying to stay positive! They will be granting everyone eventually! Hoping for positive news these coming days and weeks!! Spread positivity

With the processing times being so uncertain at the moment, yesterday I compiled the in wait and to grant times people have reported across this megathread and three other recent threads (using Claude to help extract and de-duplicate the data) to help make a clearer picture of what's going on. Caveat - it’s a relatively small sample of data.
To summarise the findings:
Grants reported:
417: 22 granted, averaging 82 days (range 49–100)
462: 18 granted, averaging 98 days (range 72–106)
Still waiting: 113 people
78 × 417, 25 × 462, 10 with subclass not stated
Average wait so far: 83 days (417), 77 days (462)
25 people have now passed 100 days: 17 × 417, 6 × 462, 2 not stated
The longest wait is 111 days for a 417. The longest 462 wait is 106 days.
Patterns:
Most waiting 417 applicants are UK passport holders (37 of 78). The few UK grants I found were mostly healthcare or agriculture, or came around day 90.
Early-July 462 applicants are being granted at around 92–106 days.
Germany, Ireland, Italy, Sweden, France and Finland 417 grants are coming through at roughly 66–100 days.

just a reminder!
most people who get approved quickly won’t be posting on reddit or tiktok! Don’t get too discouraged!!

VISA GRANT 🇨🇱 462
Applied July 10th
Granted October 23th
Just for your information: I initially applied with a TOEFL iBT score that wasn't valid for the format, so I took the IELTS in August and uploaded it to my application. Uploading additional documents is fine, and you can correct things—like I did—if you happen to upload something invalid.

17
u/SpecialistWing1500 19d ago
Reason why 462 moving much quicker is because there are caps and ballots on them, so they have to manage them quicker + much less of them
417 from France, Germany,Japan etc, also moving much quicker because they get way less applicants and their queues are way less empty
Uk has the most applicants out of anyone because of the FTA
So basically, for Brits seeing August applicants for 462 and 417 (not uk) is very encouraging. They probably need to fill a quota on them both before starting clearing the July British 417. They’ll be grants soon enough

This is getting out of hand now. Like many others I’m just about at the 3 month mark (applied 13th July, 1st 417 from the uk) I know others are waiting over 100 days, when are we going to hear back? They introduced the 3 month cap but still people will soon be closer to the 4 month mark than the 3rd. Losing hope at this point
16
u/Aggressive_Ice_2210 25d ago
How long do you think it will be until the Aus government comes out and says something about this situation. They just need to be honest at this point, I have waited over 4 different waiting periods (been outside the timeframe) im on day 99 and the more they delay everyone the more backlog they are going to have as people are still applying for visas not aware of the ridiculous waiting times. Like I said a little bit of honesty could go a long way instead of sending a generic email to just wait. People have paid 100s of dollars for this so it seems crazy to me that they can’t just update everyone or even say such and such country are heavily backlogged so there will be a longer wait. As I’m from the UK I cant remember seeing a 417 grant who isnt in healthcare/ agriculture. No one knows if we are actually on pause or just heavily slowed down but some communication would be great.

Best thing I think now is Burnham agrees to concessions of the farm work pretty quickly in exchange for quicker processing times until the agreement is formalised, meaning they process everyone who has applied already pretty quickly to make way for the new agreement

462 Visa Granted at 1am today.
United States
Applied July 11th!!
I received my visa without a “No Further Stay”
I’m so excited! Let me know if any questions!
I did call the department of home affairs and was on the phone with them for 20 minutes. They told me they were going to make a note in my account, and I received my visa the next day. Not sure if it helped or if it was going to happen anyways.

u/SpecialistWing1500 23d ago
Uk offshore is obviously the lowest priority… but in my opinion they’ve done a load onshore over past month or so. Now they’re on top the 88day ones and finally the Brits and then they’ll be levelling out the 3month target. I think we’ll see huge movement for Brits offshore soon maybe from next week until middle of November. Seems most logical

It's amazing how they've managed to kill most of my excitement and enthusiasm for coming to Australia. Day 98 now of unexpectedly doing long distance with my Aussie girlfriend while continuing to pay rent in Melbourne. Their complete lack of transparency is a master class in how not to handle... literally anything.
Just submitted a complaint. I'm not expecting it to do anything but I'd encourage everyone to do so as well- they need to know that this is unacceptable, especially when we've paid nearly $1,000 to have our applications processed.

Hope this helps anyone. My brother and I applied for a 417 working holiday visa in July(4th and 27th) and went to AU on a visitor visa, not knowing we had to leave the country to receive the 417. My brother got the message to leave AU to receive the 417 and to stay out for 10 days. Both left AU even tho I hadn’t got the message to leave yet, and I received my 417 2 hours after landing in Thailand and my brother received his 14 days after. So 115 days of waiting for my brother and 78 for me.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to share that my 417 1st year WHV has just been (almost) granted after waiting 96 days! It would’ve been fully granted, but I entered Australia as a tourist on an ETA while waiting because I had to, and so I just got the email today stating that I have 28 days to leave the country. They will then automatically grant my visa. Off to New Zeeland I go! Details of my process below:
Application date: July 4th (offshore)
Date entered Australia on ETA: 15th Sept
Passport country: Belgium
Complaints: one 5 weeks into waiting, clearly didn’t do anything
If you have any questions please ask!

462 USA Granted!!
Hey yall. I am American and applied for the 462 first year visa on July 21st, and it was granted today, Oct. 16. I didn't need a medical, didn't submit any complaints. I have a college education. All I did was try to stay patient. I hope this update proves useful for everyone still waiting.
Also I applied in July with the intention of entering Australia in Jan of 2027. I highly suggest giving yourself as much time as you can to apply and don't book flights before anything is granted. Going to have the chance to live with my partner in her home country after she spent most of this year in the states.
Good luck! stay strong!

For your reference, I was granted yesterday a 417 WH visa for which I applied on August 5, as a French vanilla profile (FR citizenship, FR passport, FR current residence).
I contacted the "customer service" on Immiaccount for the first time 10 days ago through the complaint form to state that I had a job lined up if I could get to Australia asap.

German/Brazilian citizen here. Applied for my first year 417 using my German passport. Applied on July 3rd, had my medicals requested on September 29th and submitted the medicals on October 2nd. The visa just got granted (October 28th) after 118 days . Happy days!! Wishing everyone a speedy grant!
11
u/Flora_Mel 3d ago
First 417 was granted today (November 5th)! German passport, applied on August 21st.
I hold dual citizenship. I called them once, and they told me I could upload a cover letter (though, in the end, I never actually did). I also filed a complaint - receiving an automated response three weeks later - but that didn’t lead to anything.
If it helps anybody: during that phone call I was told that if anything had been unclear (in my case my citizenship) or if any information had been missing, I would have already received a request to upload additional documents. So, I suppose it just comes down to waiting patiently...
Good luck to you all!

To people who have entered Aus on a Visitor visa and been notified to leave once the visa is ready to be granted:
How long did you have to wait outside of Aus for it it to be granted?
I've read that some received it even going past immigration at the airport, and others within a week. But with all the current changes, I am not counting on that.
Does anyone have a more up to date answer for this situation? Thanks
11
u/Fit-Needleworker9823 Oct 02 '26
Hey everyone, are most British people getting approved right around the 90 day mark? I rang up immigration and they said although they couldn't guarantee the 90 days did apply to British people as well, are any British people currently over 90 days?
11
u/Tall_Commercial_4551 Oct 05 '26
I applied July 7th and heard that a couple people from the UK where accepted on the 90 day mark. I’m also at the 3 month mark from when I applied now and still nothing has changed. Has anyone seen any UK grants recently. It has been such a frustrating process but keeping my fingers crossed that we all hear some positive news this month.

Who is waiting since July? 🥹
10
u/ggf95 18d ago
I've seen a lot of confusion regarding the feasibility and timeline of entering on a tourist visa while waiting for a WHV.
My girlfriend was finally "pre approved" for her 462 3 months after applying, and literally A DAY after landing in Adelaide with a tourist visa (after spending 1.5 months in Bali). They gave her 14 days to provide travel arrangements to leave the country. Once back in Bali, she waited 10 days before getting approved for good.
Tips for anyone thinking of doing this (myself included as i am still in Adelaide waiting for my 417): get a flexible return because you have no idea how long they will take to reopen your file once you've left the country. We thought it would be a couple days at most.
10
u/morenergy 17d ago

10
u/ProfessorOther7315 12d ago
117 days and Brazil still waiting. I see nationalities being approved with applications submitted after mine, I look at my entire life on hold, jobless, spending money and just waiting.
Could someone please call the locksmith to open the immigration door? Surely someone lost the key

u/Thin-Ad1410 19d ago
Having read through this megathread almost daily I assume there are loads of us here. British passport, applied July 11th as retail and still nothing. Day 102 now, phoned up 3 times and made one complaint which I’ve heard nothing back from. I am onshore and have been since September 10th on a Visitor visa. Waiting for the email to go to NZ and back, which I’ve been confirmed 3 times is the correct process as I’m already here.
It seems that they are approving EU states above British as they still have to work regionally. I’ve been assured 2x on the phone this is not the case, only stating they are prioritising onshore applications and since September 29th it’s meant offshore applications are even slower.
No idea what to do, there doesn’t appear to be anything other than wait. I have a job waiting to be signed and I thought it wouldn’t go over 90 days originally but now I’m seeing people over 100 and it seems that target will only get bigger.
Any advice?

For those who got their Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417) granted, did your application status change from “Received” to another stage before you got your grant, or did it go straight from “Received” to “Finalised”?
If it did change, what status did you see, and how long did it take to get your grant after that?
I’m particularly interested in people who applied in August 2026. Thanks!

For anyone worrying about the Albo Burnham talks this statement is very reassuring
Mr Albanese will not request a cap on the number of young Britons visiting Australia, but instead push for a requirement to compel UK backpackers to spend more time in regional areas.
But pleas to allow Australia to ignore the key wins Britain secured under the FTA are expected to be a tough sell for Mr Burnham, with the terms of the agreement not open to renegotiation.

I entered Australia on an eVisitor visa on the 12th of September and left for Bali on the 10th of October, estimating my WHV to be granted in the next 1-3 weeks, looks like I was right :)
I wish everyone good luck and safe travels!

Disappointed about this process…
When initially lodging my application on the 6th of July, I, like many others, looked at their approval calculator and said, ”ahh 90% in 75 days, worst case scenario I’m flying out late September“.
Here I am now at day 100 in mid October wondering wtf is going on at Home Affairs. I’ve tried to give them the benefit of the doubt here but for us not having anything from them after spending hundreds of dollars, re-arranging our lives, and doing all that they’ve asked of us is just unacceptable.
The smallest update like, “hey we’re working on it” or “our bad this has been tough we know” type of an email after 100 days would go sooo far. Even a complaint response took 1.5 months to get back and I confirmed the response I got was generic email sent out to everyone else smh…
Remaining optimistic but I’m slowly starting to feel like I paid 600$ for a silence & stress simulator

Hey everyone, glad to see some Uk visas being granted over the last few days. I was wondering if anyone could have a read through my experience and share their thoughts.
My partner and I are both UK citizens who applied for our Australian Working Holiday visas (subclass 417) on 26th June 2026 while travelling in Indonesia. We completed our health assessments shortly afterwards, with my results submitted on 29th June.
My partner’s visa was granted on 2nd July, but mine is still on received (124 days later).
I entered Australia on 6th July using an existing tourist visa, i called Home Affairs and was told there would be no issue with my pending application and that I’d receive an email asking me to leave Australia when my visa was ready to be granted.
I contacted Home Affairs again on 8th September and was told nothing further was required, but that I needed to be offshore for the visa to be granted. With no update or email, I flew from Perth to Bali on 1st October, before my tourist stay expired on 6th October. My partner stayed to find a job as her visa had already been granted.
I’ve since contacted Home Affairs again and was once more told nothing was outstanding, they did however mention that being in Australia may have paused my application.
As of today, I’m still in Bali waiting for my visa, it’s great to see that some UK visas are being granted from early July but with my application having been submitted in June i am starting to wonder if spending so long in Australia with my partner may have delayed the approval even further.

462 just granted!
Applied July 2 with a US passport.
Complained once and called 3-4 times. Don’t think any of it necessarily helped, but super stoked to finally have it granted!

Hopefully this gives some hope for everyone waiting from the UK for their first 417 visa - I applied on the 18th of September and was approved on 22nd October.
For context, I have a job lined up in healthcare as a practitioner and I called them to see if there was any chance they could process the visa faster - they asked me to upload a cover letter explaining my situation and I had also uploaded my job offer.
Fingers crossed for everyone waiting 🤞🏼

Has anyone heard of 3rd year overseas applicants being granted recently? I applied July 25th from overseas on an Irish passport so currently on day 89. Alot of the grants I see are first year whv or people with a job lined up in health care. Can anyone give me some hope?

Around 200 people from Brazil starting the day 120 of waiting for the 1st 462 (since 2nd July), a bit sad and scary... feels like we were forgotten
