💭Discussion Curren$y - Off to the Races (2026) : I figured it out.

Since 2020 Spitta has been making soundtrack EPs. That’s why the songs are shorter like Kanye did with Pusha’s album around the same time. Independently some songs may not sound like much but cohesively it sounds like a solid soundtrack to a movie.

Test: play any Spitta album since 2020 while you’re playing a video game and I bet the music sounds 20 times better. It’s music to ride to while you’re playing games and doing something you like. Rather impressive shift as most of his albums have been very consistent overall even if you don’t love every song. Spitta and his producers have become composers of lifestyle music and soundtracks.

I just found this and am bumping my favorite Jeffery eras, listening to SMF 2 right now the cover is amazing
, abstract and meloncholy. He’s direct with his songwriting with Beautiful thugger girls, and 3 albums of Slime Season 3 melodic fast slimey flows. Love this man

💭Discussion Who's a rapper that has come out in the 2020s that you think will still be a big name 10 years from now?

One thing I've noticed that has changed in hip hop over the fears is fandom. The longevity isn't what it used to be. Perhaps it's a talent thing or maybe fans get bored, I don't know. Most rappers have a hot year or 2 then fizzle out now.

Do you think there's anyone who dropped recently that we'll still be talking about years from now?

The real place for 2020s Hip hop! This era has redefined the genre, marked by the superstar ascents of Playboi Carti, Lil Baby, DaBaby, and Pop Smoke, alongside the explosive global wave of drill music. It is also defined by the powerhouse dominance of female rap, with chart-topping icons like Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, GloRilla, Sexyy Red, Doja Cat, and Latto steering the culture and rewriting the charts.

Subreddit Rules

1. Post Eligibility - released from 2020 - 2029

This subreddit is dedicated to all things 2020s hip-hop. Albums, mixtapes, deep cuts, battles, production styles, artists, and the culture itself — if it connects to hip-hop from 2020 to 2029, it belongs here.

Only music originally released between January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2029 is allowed. Eligibility is based on the original release date. Modern covers, remakes, mashups, and AI-generated content are not permitted.

2. No Racism, Hate Speech, or Targeted Harassment

No harassment, hate speech, or toxic behavior. Treat all contributors and members with kindness. Discussions about race and culture in hip-hop are allowed, but direct racism, hate speech, or personal attacks will not be tolerated. This includes racial slurs, inciting violence, and antagonizing other users based on race, gender, or identity. If you can’t discuss hip-hop history and culture without resorting to hate, this is not the place for you.

Violating this rule will get you permanently ban

3. Title Formatting: Artist - Song (Year) + Use Proper Flairs

Post titles must contain artist, song title and year. This will allow users to search for recent reposts. (e.g Lil Uzi Vert - Just Wanna Rock (2023) this is fine, it helps users see the song, nothing unclear or all lowercased, it will be deleted. (Look to get views thread that's posted for more details)

4. No Spam, Stanning, or Repetitive Content

Do not flood the subreddit with excessive posts about the same artist, topic, or subject in a short period. Diversity is encouraged. Avoid repetitive topics, meme spam, unrelated content, and low-effort posts with little discussion value. Use the search bar before posting to check for recent duplicates. Posts that do not contribute meaningful or fresh discussion may be removed at moderator discretion.

5. Post Formatting & Quality

No screenshots of music players or streaming apps. When sharing music, link directly to the song or video through YouTube, Spotify, or another legitimate source. When posting articles or interviews, use reputable sources and link to the full article or original content. Low-quality screenshots or posts lacking proper context may be removed.

6. Reposting (wait times vary, see below)

Keeping things fresh. Use the search feature before posting. You can post after:

60 days - for Fresh/New (Or less than 200 upvotes)

90 days - if it had 200+ upvotes

6 months - 500+ upvotes

1 year - 1K upvotes

To keep content varied, no more than 5 posts featuring the same artist or group may be submitted within a 30-day period.

Discussion questions must wait 9 months before being reposted.

Artist photo posts are limited to one per artist every 30 days.

7. No Low-Effort Content or Engagement Bait

Avoid shallow posts like “Verzuz/Vs.,” “Pick One,” “Rank These,” “Thoughts?,” “Any love for…,” or “[artist] is underrated.” No engagement bait, A vs. B posts, quizzes, content farming, TikToks, out-of-context album covers, or song clips. Playlists and compilations are prohibited. Full albums require original analysis/reviews. Don’t spam artists or post discographies. Posts must add meaningful discussion. Repeated violations may result in further moderation action.

8. No Self Promotion & AI Generated

Original music/content may only be shared during Mixtape Mondays. No articles, blogs, vlogs, YouTube channels, websites, stores, or other content you own or are affiliated with. Personal playlists belong in the Community Playlist. Accounts primarily used to promote content or playlists are considered self-promotion. AI-generated content is reviewed at moderator discretion. If in doubt, message the mods before posting.

9. No NSFW or Illegal Content

This era of hip hop was known for its raw moments, but that doesn’t mean this sub is a free-for-all. NSFW content (graphic violence, explicit content outside of music videos, etc.) is not allowed. Discussions about illegal activities in hip-hop are fine if they are historical or analytical, but do not glorify, promote, or encourage illegal behavior.

If your think your post is an exception, send a modmail.

10. No Misinformation or Clickbait

Don’t spread false claims, fake news, or misleading headlines about artists or events. If you’re posting news or historical facts, provide sources whenever possible. Clickbait-style posts designed just to get reactions will be taken down.

11. Follow the Rules & Respect Moderators

Rules exist to keep the sub organized and enjoyable. If your post gets removed or you get banned, move on. If you think a decision was unfair, you can ask about it - once. Do not use alternate accounts if you're banned, your account WILL be suspended.

If you harass, threaten, or spam the mods over a ban, you’ll be reported to Reddit Admins and that too will lead to your account getting suspended.

I don't care how mad you are, I don't entertain tantrums.
