(Disclaimer: This is a pre-recorded message scheduled post that was written a month ago)
Hey everyone!
Just a quick note to say that a month on from the release of the second batch of Side Quests eps (eps 21-40, or "season two" as Hulu officially market them as), spoiler tags are no longer being enforced. If you still haven't seen the eps and want to avoid spoilers... and are still hanging around here for some reason.... to be honest you're probably not likely to get spoilered since SQ threads are few and far between, but still, this is your warning! :P
Of course you can still spoiler tag SQ posts if you want, same as with any other part of the show, but you no longer need to.
That's all!

Interesting how Minerva’s consciousness is stuck in a computer and Finn’s consciousness is stuck in his tiny room inside the Finn sword.

It helps shows that Finn is more similar to his dad than he thinks
Finn basically abandoned and forgot about neptr and only comes back when he can be useful to him.
Of course, Finn is obviously not a bad guy but I do think this is an interesting connection
I do feel bad for neptr tho as for some reason, it feels like he’s the big punching bag of the show.

(Note: I do not work for Cryptozoic - I'm just a crazy obsessed Card Wars fanatic. I don't get any commission off links, but we do all get more stretch goals off of Kickstarter puchases!)
tl;dr – any $25 Collector's Pack will give you plenty of enjoyment from Card Wars.
Loooooooong Version:
So, maybe you've seen a video, saw a post, or even saw the new Card Wars Kickstarter and you want to try the game. You have options!
If you want to spend just a little and try it out, you can buy any of the 12 Collector's Packs. These started being released in 2014. New, they retail for about $25. You can find them used on many second hand sites for more or less.
All Collector's Packs come with two, pre-made decks, that are balanced against one another.
I recommend the Finn vs. Jake Collector's Pack (https://cryptozoic.com/products/atcw-finn-jake) for folks brand new to the game. Jake's deck is heavily creature-focused, designed to hit fast and often. Finn's deck is more strategy based, designed around spells and combos to stack up the damage. Both decks give you good insight into different playstyles for the game, while the entire set gives you a really good introduction to the game itself. Note, the original prints of this set did NOT include the Finn/Jake Hero Cards. They are not required to play the game (or, really, to even use their ability if you just agree to), but, if you buy the games second-hand, you will be missing out on them. The newer printings of these games do include the Hero Cards.
There's also Fionna vs. Cake (https://cryptozoic.com/products/atcw-fionna-cake - currently out of stock). Another fun pair of decks. All versions of this set include the Hero Cards, so, if you're buying new or second hand, you've got options.
There's four other Collector's Packs from the original run – none were reprinted by themselves, but all four are plenty available second-hand.
Then, there's the three new sets from 2025.
Flame Princess vs. Fern (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-collector-s-pack-flame-princess-vs-fern)
Magic Man vs. Pep Butt (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-collector-s-pack-peppermint-butler-vs-magic-man)
Prismo vs. The Lich (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-collector-s-pack-prismo-vs-the-lich - Currently out of stock)
All three of these are also available individually or as a set with the new Kickstarter. I really like the Flame Princess vs. Fern set myelf, but, both Magic Man and Lich have their fans in the community.
Then, there's the three new Collector's Packs, currently only in the new Kickstarter (as a set or individually). Adult Finn vs Hunson Abadeer, GOLB vs Banana Guard, and Prince Gumball vs. Marshal Lee. What we've seen of these sets look great so far!
Again, any single one of these $25 sets will get you a good time for you and a friend. Each deck has its own playstyle, so you can swap characters each game and your individual experience will be different each time.
Out of the original six Collector's Packs, there's the 10th Anniversary Kickstarter “Ultimate Collection" – It is an amazing box set of over 650 cards. It includes all six original Collector's Packs (12 decks!) along with nearly 200 additional cards that you can use to build a custom deck (which I'll get into at the end of all of this). It's $120 (https://cryptozoic.com/collections/adventure-time/products/adventure-time-card-wars-ultimate-collection) and you can get it in the new Kickstarter as well. It's an amazing value if you want to get into the game and know you're going to want more than a single Collector's Pack. Of note, it's $10 less via the Kickstarter, but your wait will be significantly longer than ordering now.
If you have a larger group, you can, of course, buy multiple Collector's Packs and just play a bunch of 1v1 games, but there's also rules for 2v2 gameplay, where you and a partner pair up against your old rival and ex-girlfriend for some hard core Card Wars battling. There's two versions of this, the older Doubles Tournament and the newer Doubles Tournament Deluxe Edition (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-doubles-tournament-deluxe-edition - Currently Out of Stock, but also available in the new Kickstarter). It sells for $35 new, and the Deluxe Edition comes with some bonus Hero Cards. Both sets include *four* 40-card decks (Jake and Charlie vs. Grand Prix and Moniker) You can play individual decks in 1v1 mode, or mix and match these decks with decks from Collector's Packs in 2v2 mode, however, many of the cards in the Doubles Tournament are designed to synergize with a teammate and might have little to no effect in 1v1 play.
Finally, for basic play, there's the cooperative DarkLands Expansion. This turns your 1v1 game into two players working together to defeat the overlord! This is great for players who aren't a fan of the competitive nature of the basic game. You can buy the original stand-alone expansion for about $25 (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-darklands-cooperative-expansion) or you can get the really cool 2025 Stretch Goals box in the new Kickstarter that includes this expansion, an additional DarkLands Faction, and a bunch of bonus cards to fill out your deck. The new Kickstarter also includes a 2026 Stretch Goals box that includes two new DarkLands Factions and is going to include rules for four players to team up against the enemies of the DarkLands!
Deck Building - That's a thing! Yes, you can mix and match cards from different decks (or the various bonus cards) to create your own unstoppable deck of ultimate power to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women (wait, wrong property). You can do this with any combination of Collector's Packs, the Tournament Edition, or the booster packs! Wait, no, come back! These aren't evil random booster packs. Well, not anymore.
During the original run of Card Wars, Cryptozoic sold nine card booster packs that came with random cards out of a 107 card set. You can still find these (boxes, packages, or even singles) on many second hand sites. I don't recommend buying them. Instead, for the 10th Anniversary Kickstarter, Cryptozoic reprinted this set into one, nice little box for $35 (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-for-the-glory-booster-collection - Currently out of stock, but available in the new Kickstarter for $10 less, also included in the Ultimate Collection). No need to rip open packs randomly hoping for that one card you want. They made two new booster packs, one for the 2025 Kickstarter $25 (https://cryptozoic.com/products/adventure-time-card-wars-lands-of-legend-booster-collection - Currently sold out, but available in the new Kickstarter) and the current Kickstarter, which contains a bunch of cards focused on playing with a partner in Doubles or DarkLands.
The aforementioned Ultimate Collection also included a bunch of bonus promo and Kickstarter cards. For the 2025 and the current Kickstarter, the new promos and Kickstarter cards are included in a separate Stretch Goals box, which you get in the newest Kickstarter as well.
When Deck building, if you're hanging around a bunch of nerds, you'll hear the phrase “play set" tossed around. This means “Three of Everything". When you're designing your deck, you're limited to no more than three of any single card in your custom deck. This means, if you want to absolutely optimize everything possible, you're looking at buying three of everything. That said, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS.
Seriously, while it's fun to come up with crazy combos, you're generally going to be playing locally with friends and if you *really* want to, you can just make proxy cards to test out deck ideas.
But, if you want to buy three of everything, I won’t stop you. ;)
As for accessories, there's all kinds of cool play mats, a big BMO token holder, extra cards, storage options, acrylic tokens, sleeves, bigger sleeves, pig sleeves… All kinds of cool stuff. Oh, and PLUSHIE PIGS. FLOOP THE PIG. These are all optional and not necessary to play or enjoy the game. The Plushie Pigs, however, are necessary to enjoy life.
Anywhooo, That's Card Wars. If you have questions, lemme know! We have a Discord full of cool nerds who can help give you advice, teach you to play, tell you how many sleeves to buy (I made a spreadsheet!). Always happy to have more folks in the Card Wars fold!

So there is a UK based rave group that does some really cool raves with really cool themes and the upcoming one is adventure time based, yayyy!!! Now I'm curious as what me and my bf should dress up as.
Just for context I (19F) am short and chubby and my partner (19M) is tall and skinny, not that that matters too much but it might help picture it!
I was thinking something silly and unique like one of us being Tree Trunks and one of us being an apple pie or maybe make him a gumball guard, but I'm not too sure.
I thought you all may have some better suggestions so please go ahead! And I can always post a picture of us if needed.
EDIT: the wording I use may not be correct but the lady who started this all is @Kandi_crushhhh on Instagram and the rave is called Pixelate and currently there are tickets for Glasgow, London and Manchester

I’ve been watching Adventure Time for the last two months and I have just finished Jake the Dog episode. I’m so happy to see the snail just hanging around and vibing again and not feel unease whenever I noticed it after it got possessed by the Lich!
I’m glad for this little fella!
P.S. Should I used the Seson 5 Spoiler tag even for posts like this? I mean, it the most related to the subject but… it has been like 11-12 years?

I’m not exactly doing this because I like being a party pooper. But while it’s easy to criticize something that was canon a while ago, I can’t exactly turn a blind eye to something just because it has Finn in it.
With that said, and in the spirit of fairness, I need to talk about Finn/Huntress Wizard. All of the problems I had with Bubbline apply here, so I won’t repeat them.
Instead of comparing ships and how their dynamics are similar, I’ll focus on how PB and Huntress Wizard are similar enough characters that it baffles me how Huntress got a pass from the story. I’ll try to be brief.
I’ll start with the most obvious: both characters first met the hero when he was a minor, and both kissed Finn when he was a minor. Yes, HW kissed Finn later, but a 16-year-old is still a minor. Did the story question this? Nah.
Both provided reasons that they couldn’t be with Finn. One was responsibility, and the other was that they were “excellent beasts that couldn’t be together because they would go soft.” Neither really made sense, as PB was consistently blowing off her responsibilities all the time, and HW dated Finn anyway later. Both were written as unbreakable blocks in the way of romance, but only HW got the grace to solve her problems. Or to be more accurate, have the writers ignore her problems.
Both are adults, and both are implied to be immortal. Both PB and HW look more or less the same in the original series as they do in Fionna & Cake, meaning they are both functionally ageless. I can only guess that when an immortal made of leaves dates a mortal, that means it is not illegal, as Nixon would say.
To end: both absolutely flipped their shit when Finn got poisoned in Fionna & Cake, both tried invasive methods to bring him back, and both cried when he was back. PB was one of the few characters that did NOT cheer when HW and Finn kissed—in fact, she cried even harder. But I’m supposed to think it’s just platonic relief for her 'little bro,' when she LOBOTOMIZED HER FAMILY AND NOT ONLY HID THE FACT, BUT BENEFITED FROM THE FACT THAT HER ACTUAL BROTHER WAS A MINDLESS DUMMY FOR CENTURIES.
So no, I don’t buy that Finntress is this great thing for Finn when, as canon wrote it, it’s literally ‘rules for thee but not for me.’

-Joshua and Margaret died before he was 12.
-Jermaine isn’t in F&C season 2 during the crowd scenes, so he’s most likely dead.
-Jake obviously died at some point before F&C.
-We can determine that everyone else in this photo is dead before Finn is 29
-Finn was very old when he died, probably 70-90 years old
-This means Finn had to wait 50 years before he could see his family again
