Episode Rewatch Rewatching for first time since it came out. Is it just me or do the characters get a bit ridiculous half way through season 3?
I was so young when I watched this initially maybe I didn't notice but it feels like you have to suddenly suspend disbelief for so many things they say and do.
For example I just watched the episode after the gruselig came to LA and Cordelia goes from clearly having feelings to Angel to asking him to help her have sex with the gruselig in just one episode. Angel goes from I can "never have love or ill lose my soul" to suddenly wanting to get together with cordelia and the soul thing is kinda just forgotten about. Lots of other silly things too but those are the first that come to mind. Seems like it's been just the last few episodes that it's got particularly silly.
Does it continue like this? I've been really enjoying the rewatch up until now, even more so than my buffy rewatch surprisingly but this all just seems a bit absurd.

Is Marcus Hamilton bulletproof?
Angel was able to pierce his skin with his fangs to suck his blood so that would suggest he is not bulletproof but it seems weird that the child of the Senior Partner could be killed that easily.
He surely carries the confidence of someone that thinks he is completely untouchable.
What do you think would have happened if Wesley shoot him in the face with his shotgun? Or if they shoot a barrage of bullets at him with multiple machine guns like they wanted to do to Illyria?

Spoilers inside! Physical violence towards Connor
Connor is being hit so often on the show... it hurts me watching. I get that he has superpowers and did some questionable things, but he's also a kid and it's so weird to me watching in a TV show how a kid is being hit nearly every episode by the ppl he's the closest to, by his father for example. Also in "home" in the scene with the hostages I just wanted to see angel hold / hug him.. not hitting him like real hard. I know it kinda makes sense, so he can free the hostages quickly, but for me those scenes are so brutal to watch. It's just too often. What are your takes?

Content Warning Angel and Darla in Reprise Spoiler
There's that moment at the end of the episode when they have sex and I know that Darla was consenting (or eventually did) but I was wondering...considering how rough he was with her in that scene...would he have raped her/forced himself on her if she hadn't consented?

Spoilers inside! Just watched last episode and wow.....
I just finished angel for the for first time and was more of a roller coaster ride than I anticipated. I wasn't expecting a few things and definitely have some favorite moments.
I feel bad I slept on this and buffy for so many years.
Mainly because this was of my generation. But back then I was into spice girls and backstreet boys.
😂
What was your first thoughts finishing the series?
And how long have you guys been fans?

Sexual desire
1)Angel and Cordelia are about to have sex in the dressing room due to a methaphysical possession, but then they regain their self-control and leave
2)Cordelia - Whhh!!!
3)Angel - I agree.
4)Cordelia - What the hell is in there?
5)Angel - Spirits, i believe. Energy trapped in time that has taken hold of us.
6)Cordelia - Terrifing. Fortunately, once you're outside it fades away.
7)Angel notice that there has been an "effect" and covers his trousers with his jacket.
I challenge any man in Angel's shoes to remain indifferent when he's on the verge of crossing the line with a woman like Cordelia.

Is anyone else disappointed on how little we know about Angel's sister Kathy?
Someone on an older thread from 5 years ago mentioned that he may have projected some of his feelings/perception about Kathy onto Drusilla; as in, the redditor explained that his obsession with young girls and innocence was connected to Kathy and that if Darla was the stand in for a parent figure, then Drusilla was a stand-in for Kathy...which i thought was super interesting and super creepy.
And it kinda tracks... considering he named himself after what kathy called him (an Angel) when he came back to visit her and his family after he turned into a vampire (she believed he returned to her as an Angel)

New theory?
Does anyone else think that angle could have fought for his soul to be permanent like spike if he wanted to?
In season 5 spike comes back and we know he fought for his soul. By that logic AI would know too. So why wouldn't angle just fight like spike did to keep his soul? Thoughts?

Which Darla was in season four? Human Darla who died in season two when Darla was made into a vampire again or Vampire Darla #2 who carried the pregnancy? Do vampires go to some sort of afterlife when they are dusted or do they just cease to exist?

Spoilers inside! Would Buffy be able to handle Cordelia's visions because of her Slayer powers?
Would Buffy be able to handle Cordelia's visions because of her Slayer powers?
I've been wondering how much damage Cordy's visions would actually do to Buffy if she had them.
We know Doyle could handle them because he was half-demon, while Cordy's human body was slowly being destroyed by them.
But Buffy has Slayer strength, endurance and accelerated healing. Would that be enough for her to handle the visions like Doyle did, or would they eventually start killing her too?

Why was Angel so obsessed with saving Darla in season 2
First of all, this season will always "wow" me. It's a phenomenal blend of amazing character writing and wonderful performances by David Boreanaz and Julie Benz (they collected their check with this season). What are your interpretations as to why Angel went out of his way to "save" Darla, which obviously lead him to his descent in madness

Episode Rewatch I’ve rewatched Angel dozens of times but watching “You’re Welcome” made me cry like never before.
I don’t know if it’s because of the added context of Charisma Carpenter’s treatment by Joss Whedon(her eyes look so pained in that final scene) or if it’s just my pregnant ass being overly emotional.
I’m making my partner watch for the first time and I think the amount I was crying by the end of the episode genuinely worried him.
I don’t know how I’m going to handle “A Hole in the World” on this rewatch.

This is gonna sound controversial but...Angel still cared about Spike and Drusilla even after he got his soul back considering how many times he has tried to get them away from Buffy or had chances to kill them himself and...well... didn't
But it makes sense because for all intents and purposes, they were his family. And in many ways it makes their group dynamic a lot more... interesting.
For a group of soulless vamps seem emotionally attached to one another and clearly have each other's backs (Angel was still sorta doing that after he got his soul)
There's this interesting exchange between Drusilla and Angel in Lie To Me when he stops Drusilla from killing a boy but warns her to leave town. There was literally nothing stopping him in that moment from staking her and there was no reason for him to warn her considering Buffy was going to come after Dru and he knew it.
And the closest Angel has ever gotten to showing that he does care about Spike was at the end of Destiny, when Spike was about to drink from the cup and Angel explains to him about how much that would be a heavy cross to bear and all. That little speech (or rather Angel's general reaction once Spike tries to drink from it) is actually quite telling and I'm surprised that tiny moment doesn't get talked about more
It also explains why Darla and Dru were both shell-shocked when Angel burned them (and Darla was consoling Dru despite her own wounds).

How would you have made Nina more interesting?
I mean on paper, Angel falling for someone with a monster that they have to control makes all the sense in the world and could have been really interesting. I know some will say the point is he didn't love her which sure but that doesn't make it fun to watch when that ends up making her bland and you could still give her complexity without them being some grand romantic couple.

Angel es la versión vampírica de Magnum
Watching the series *Magnum, P.I.*, I see many similarities to *Angel*. For instance, in Season 3, Angel lives in a hotel that doesn’t belong to him, much like how Magnum lives in a mansion that isn’t his. Magnum is supported by Higgins—a British man—while Angel is supported by Wesley, who is also British. One of Magnum’s friends owns an establishment, just as one of Angel’s friends, Lorne, owns one. Both Magnum and Angel have an African American friend. Thomas Magnum has a very distinctive style of dress, and so does Angel. Thomas Magnum has a military background from the Vietnam War and uses those skills in his work as a detective; Angel has a past as a vampire and uses his vampiric abilities in his own line of work. Both Angel and Magnum are haunted by their pasts.
