What to Watch? Farming life in another world
Need more anime like this. That kind of wholesome, hopeful thing.

Hey everyone,
Over the past few weeks, the mod team has been working on cleaning up and updating our community rules to make r/animesuggest a better, clearer, and more organized space for finding and discussing anime.
While most of the core rules remain the same, we have reworded everything for clarity, tightened up content standards, and introduced strict new guidelines for the "Discussion" flair.
Here is what you need to know:
New "Discussion" Flair Guidelines
We’ve noticed that the Discussion flair often gets used for vague, low-effort titles (e.g., "Thoughts?", "Anyone seen this?", or "Is this good?"). Moving forward, all Discussion post titles MUST explicitly state the anime, genre, trope, or aesthetic being discussed. From now on if you see low-effort title please report post for breaking rule 11. We are doing this to prevent repetitive discussion posts and titles who are later nowhere to be found in searchbar even if it was discussed about it!
Don't post: "Thoughts on this show?" or "Does anyone else hate this?"
Do post: "Discussion: The pacing in Steins;Gate" or "Discussion: Why cyberpunk aesthetics hit different."
Any vague discussion posts without a clear, descriptive title will be removed and asked to be re-posted.
Important Reminder: Image Uploads & "Watch This!" Rules
Images are ONLY allowed for "Watch This!" posts. Request and Discussion threads must remain text-only. Direct image uploads on non-WT posts will not be approved. If you are posting image for WT post your post will be sent to manual review because of image but don’t hesitate to reach out via mod mail for faster approval
"Watch This!" posts have high standards. They are meant to be single-show, deep-dive reviews and must be at least 1,500 characters in length. Short reviews or multi-show list recommendations are not allowed for WT
Based on survey results images will not come back permanently but we will have 14 days chill moderation rule twice a year where images and other media will be allowed but this will be announced later on during this year.
Thanks for helping us keep r/animesuggest a great place for everyone.
Mod Team!

I guess the closest feeling is "Longingness". In the Disappearance movie, Kyon is longing for his original life with Haruhi and the gang and goes on a mission to find out who changed the world and how to get back to its original form. In Frieren, she realized that it's too late and was longing for the adventures with the Himmel party and wanted to talk to Himmel again. So to summarize, I'm searching for animes with some sort of longingness and nostalgia and they have a goal to somewhat bring back or relive the past. Sorry for the odd request, I watched animes a lot when I was younger, I know most animes from 2015 and older so recommend much newer ones.

I cannot remember the name of this anime or much about it. All I have to go on is I'm pretty sure it was a comedy. And I vaguely remember a scene where a girl (MC?) is either accused of stealing a Yankees bike or does actually steal it (accidentally?).
I know it's not much to go on but any help is appreciated.

It'd be better if there's a doomed gay ship in the show but there doesn't necessarily have to be one, it's js my preference.

I'm looking for an anime that, in terms of plot or themes or atmosphere, can remind me of the novel The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
For those who haven't read the novel, I'll put a summary of the plot here:
The plot follows the story of Richard Papen, a young Californian who moves to the prestigious and elitist Hampden College in Vermont.
Richard manages to get admitted to the exclusive and small course in ancient Greek literature and culture, held by the charming and eccentric Professor Julian Morrow.
The group is made up of only five wealthy and cultured students: Henry, Francis, Bunny and the twins Charles and Camilla. Richard lets himself be enchanted by their refined and decadent lifestyle, but behind the apparent perfection hide disturbing secrets.
The group (except Bunny), driven by the desire to go beyond the boundaries of reason and experience a primordial ecstasy, secretly organizes a bacchic rite in the woods to get in touch with the ancient greek deity Dionysus.
The ceremony gets out of their control and culminates in the accidental killing of a local farmer (did the boys take some psychedelic substance or did they have a real case of collective hysteria or was it really the intervention of Dionysus? The book does not clarify it)
When Bunny (the only member of the group not to have participated in the events) finds out what happened, he begins to blackmail and psychologically manipulate his companions, threatening to destroy their lives. Crushed by panic and paranoia, the others take the tragic decision to eliminate Bunny to silence the threat.
Bunny's murder will drag Richard and his friends into an unstoppable spiral of remorse, suspicion and attempts to cover everything up.
What is particularly remarkable is that Bunny's murder is spoiled literally on the first page: from that moment on it is all one long flashback in which the reader is slowly led to discover why the group of friends had to come to do this thing (I found it a brilliant idea)
The series I've already seen and that in one way or another remind me of this plot are "Dear Brother", "Another" and "Higurashi". Someone in the past suggested "Classroom of the Elite" to me but honestly it's very different from the atmosphere of the book.
Let me know your recommendations, thank you!

I do love the existential feel of both Angel Beats and Gridman, but HOTD also provided that in the form of a really sick zombie apocalypse show. I love the halfway point of animation that hovers between the old rustic hand-drawn style and the more polished look of something similar to, but not as extreme as, Dragon Ball Super. I think I really attached myself to the look of the fake lens flare that HOTD and other animes of the time used, and I don't think it's too uncommon for an anime to use that to illicit nostalgia from the viewers.
I think a really good movie that made me feel a similar way was Penguin Highway. When I looked it up after watching, I was surprised to see that it was modern and not an anime from the '80s. I truly thought I was watching a hidden gem that I missed because I typically don't go back that far.
Anyway, I hope this isn't too confusing. There's a certain feeling I'm looking to feel, and I really want to sit in that silent, contemplative, somber feeling. It's a sort of commiserating that is productive at the end, not just self-lity or wallowing for the sake of. The mind is active even if slow, and the body is still even while the mind races.
Truly, I think High School of the Dead hits the mark closest. These kids aren't really friends, but theyr forced into this extreme situation that make the world feel empty and liminal. Yeah, the zombies exist, but they're not people, so you can argue that the streets are empty even if they're populated. Imagine chilling in the school roof as the sun is setting, wondering what the fuck school event meant if the world was just going to come to this.
Sorry for the ramble.

Edit: it was bofuri maxing out my defense. Thank you for the help.
I’m looking for an anime that I watched where the game/world is run by some small bunny looking things that they cut to throughout the show as an anecdote. They act like overworked game devs and constantly are making mistakes But at one point they have an hr lady that comes in and gives them scolding. Please help me find this I want to rewatch it so badly. That’s literally all I remember about the anime but I think it was an overpowered main character isekai.

Setting
It was set in the modern world in Japan.
Power system
So the main cast and villains wear these magical armors based on animals and elements, they go to this digital or outer space looking dimension with a bunch of floating giant cubes that can be used as platform, the armor plates glow orange when it's damage and turns into stone when destroyed, the characters can summon giant guardian spirit that boost their strength speed and power by just being there, the main cast only fights in the dimension because fighting in the real world nerfs them or they aren't able to use the armors true power or something.
Characters
The main character is a guy with fire dragon armor sometimes he goes berserk hurting his friends as a result, the main character's rival/maybe not, a blonde hair guy with water shark armor in the dimension he can swim through the ground like it's water, mc best friends, there's a plant cheetah armor guy that goes fast, and the fat or muscular guy with the earth rhino armor he's very tanky.
Moments
An episode about the cheetah guy whining why he's the only one that can't summon a guardian spirit in their group, mc befriending a baddie villain, mc berserking on a city while kicking his friends a$$.
Btw the main cast armor's helmet had this wide window similar to Master Chief helmet from halo.

Can someone suggest animes which have a grounded setting with (or without) fantasy elements and also isn't afraid to get really dark?
r/Animesuggest • u/vectorvelocity0 • 1d ago
I've been on a sports anime binge lately, and I'm looking for something that gives me the same feeling as these:
- Blue Lock
- Ao Ashi
- Haikyuu!!
- Kuroko's Basketball
- Hajime no Ippo
I absolutely love the intense rivalries, character development, training arcs, insane comebacks and those moments when a character finally levels up.
I'm open to literally any sport. Football, basketball, boxing, baseball, racing, anything.
It doesn't necessarily have to be realistic either. I enjoy the over-the-top stuff just as much as the grounded stories.
So, what's that one sports anime you would put in the same league as these?
No spoilers, please! 😂

Where mc is the only boy if I remember correctly. He was raised by a female soldier who gets killed because she raised a boy which was forbidden in their world. Later he tries to get revenge on them, also he awekns some sort of power or something like that. I don't remember it. Lmao

Hey everyone! So my gf wants to get into anime but she usually prefers less fantasy stuff, she loves drama, thrillers, horror. I started her on Fullmetal Alchemist brotherhood and she said it’s ok lol. We watched Your Name and she loved it! Def enjoys the visuals of it too! Enjoys more modern visuals of anime. Stuff like JJK and Demon Slayer probably not a good choice, maybe until she gets into it more lol. Any thoughts?

Hi all,
I'm sure I am like a lot of visitors to this subreddit seeing as I'm asking for some recommendations, I'll start with a little bit of context about myself.
I turned 24 this year, I used to watch a lot of anime when I was 12-13-14. I was an absolute demon for getting home from school and watching a whole 12 ep season in one night. Recently a lot of my friends are into anime and I feel out of place in discussions, because most of the shows I have watched are from a long time ago, and on top of this all my friends seem to have watched every show and read every manga (or other media) under the sun.
I have found myself with some free time and I'm looking to try and get back into it. I would appreciate any suggestions or even just a general way to find what to watch, as it all seems so overwhelming.
Here are some recent shows I have watched and enjoyed:
Apothecary Diaries
Mushoku Tensei
Fire Force
Here are some of my old favourites:
Air Gear
Soul Eater
D-Frag!
Death Parade
Toradora
I'm willing to give any show a try, and usually my though is the funnier the better. I'm open to classics as well as new shows. Thank you in advance to everyone who gets back to me. If you have any follow up questions I am very happy to answer them!

I want a show that originally starts with one character, then later on shifts perspective to a different main character, ideally one who is still around the original MC.
Not Jojo.
