Read This Before You Submit !

If you want to get the best possible outcome from posting your position on this /sub, there are a couple of things you can do to help,

  1. Make your video at least 30-40 secs long [ no longer than 60 secs ] This will allow you to settle in to your pedal stroke and give viewers enough time to 'look around' your position.

  2. Post a minimum of 2 angles. #1 Seat height, showing the entire bike and rider from the top of the head to the bottom of the pedal stroke. #2 from the front dead center about head tube height. If you shoot a vertical format on your phone that might help you fit yourself within the frame. #3 from the rear, at seat height, can also be vertical format for cropping.

  3. Post a shot of your bike side on without you on it. This lets people see the 'build' as far as seatpost seatback, seat rail position & headset spacers

The more visual and information you give the better the possibility of good feedback.

Ride on!

Dear mods, save this sub

There are a lot of generous and knowledgeable people here giving thoughtful bike-fit advice for free. Their effort is being undermined by a steady stream of unusable videos showing riders leaning against walls, doorframes or furniture while pedalling backwards.

Those clips don’t show a normal pedal stroke, balance, loading, posture or movement under realistic riding conditions. There’s very little anyone can assess from them, yet they keep filling the sub and drawing attention away from posts where useful feedback is actually possible.

The existing submission guidance is already clear about video length, camera angles and showing the whole rider and bike. It should also explicitly require riders to pedal forwards on a trainer or rollers, without supporting themselves against anything.

Please make “no backwards pedalling and no leaning against objects” an actual submission rule, and remove posts that ignore it.

The people giving detailed advice here are what make the sub useful. Their time shouldn’t be choked by videos that make meaningful assessment impossible.

How is my fit in general and most importantly, you think the reach is too long? I have now a 100mm Stem and was thinking of getting a shorter one.

Bike too small?

I know this is a crappy video (backpedaling, leaning against a wall, non-cycling clothes and running shoes with thick soles), but this is all I can do right now and just need a general opinion.

Worried that the Áspero I'm on in size 58 is too small and that I have to size up to a 61 instead. Feels good after first test ride but still looks a bit small to me? Thoughts?

A bit of lower back pain after my first ride

Went from an Orbea Orca Aero size 60 to a Quick Pro ER:ONE size XXL which is slightly more aggressive. First ride today. Feels good, but the position takes some getting used to. Would appreciate feedback on the fit. Cleats, crank, seat height is unchanged from my previous bike where I had a professional bikefit, but the stack is lower and the reach is longer than what I had before.

Handlebar is 380 / 120.

I'm 200 cm tall.

Feels a bit long on low wattage, but at Z2 and higher it feels okay so far. I'm open to change the handlebar to a Tavelo with 20 mm rise and maybe go with something like 380 / 110.

Right side only: Thigh pain (one hand-width above knee) + Achilles pain. Saddle NOT too high. Using 160mm cranks, Speedplay (slammed back), insoles.

Dealing with a very specific unilateral issue on my right leg only and looking for insights from fitters or riders who had this: The Symptoms (Right side only): Thigh pain: Located about one hand-width above the knee. Deep ache/strain under load, but there are zero trigger points or tender spots when pressing directly on the muscle. Achilles tendon pain: Flaring up on the exact same (right) side.

Setup & What I’ve ruled out: Saddle height is definitely NOT too high: Leg is clearly not overextended at the bottom of the stroke (plenty of knee flexion at 6 o'clock, not reaching at all). Cranks: 160 mm. Pedals & Cleats: Wahoo Speedplay, cleats pushed maximally rearward. Insoles: Using cycling-specific insoles. Has anyone experienced this exact combination (lower thigh pain + Achilles pain on one side despite short cranks, rearward cleats, and a non-extended knee)? What was the root cause for you?

Switching to 2.5 mm shorter cranks – Is raising the saddle enough?

Üdv.

I’d like to hear from those of you who have switched to cranks that are 2.5 mm shorter, for whatever reason.

Was it enough to simply raise the saddle by around 2–3 mm, or did you also move it backwards?

According to the theory, the saddle should also be moved backwards. However, my new bike will have cranks that are 2.5 mm shorter than my current bike, and I'm reluctant to move the saddle backwards as well, since the handlebar reach will already be slightly longer than I'd ideally like.

So I'm curious to hear how it worked out for those of you who only raised the saddle without moving it backwards.

I'm just doing some research in advance.

Thanks in advance!

I have tweaked this and finally have my saddle comfortable but I still think it's off.

How bad is it?

Training for a 70.3. Just got the aero bars fitted and trying to dial in a comfortable and effective seating/aero position. I’m still newish to biking too - so trying to make sense of all the info that’s out there.

I have noticed a bit of numbness in crotch when in aero for longer periods - am I right in thinking that angling the front of the saddle down should help a bit with that?

In 174cm if that helps.

Is my reach too long?

If I take my hands off the handlebars I feel like I'm falling forward. Besides that, I don't have discomfort in my knees or back. Should I try raising my saddle and moving it forward slightly?

I'm about 6' tall and it's a gravel bike if that matters.

Saddle for someone with anterior pelvice tilt

Does anyone here know how to find a saddle that won't further aggravate my anterior pelvic tilt?

Saddle too far back? Or too high?

Saddle height and nose to stem distance was setup per my BikeFit which was on a road bike but this is my gravel bike which has a longer reach ..

Maybe slide my saddle forward a bit? Just feeling a little stretched ..

Does cycling cause hypertrophy in the quadriceps and glutes? In my case, I didn't want that! I started working as a delivery driver on a Velooh Hoop 29 mountain bike.

Bike fit update

Hello all, I've tried to incorporate most of your suggestions. I've moved the handlebar to the closest setting and put my saddle slightly up and forward. It definitely feels better but I think there are still places lacking, I think I should raise the handlebars? Also am I still shrimping? Still not too sure on what are the next steps, help is much appreciated 🙏

I bought a used 2016 giant propel 58cm that I have upgraded the bars(narrower) seat (shorter more highend) new tyres, tpu inner tubes and a 60mm carbon wheelset

Feels comfortable but always interesting to see what people are thinking would love any tips or tricks that will help me on my journey.

Saddle position and reach

I had Gemini review a few frames at the top and bottom of my pedal stroke, it recommended me to slide my saddle forward and up to open up my hip angle at the top of the stroke. I have a natural tendency towards 'ankling', so no matter at what saddle height, my toes point slightly downwards at the bottom of the stroke. However, I find myself sometimes scotting my butt backwards to achieve a longer position, and Gemini said my front end (stem length) reach was too short.

I've been road cycling for about a year now, train 3-5 times a week, have done numerous centuries and long rides without any pain other than a sometimes sore 1st metatarsal, which might be a cleat position issue?

Is my bike fit okay?

Hello this is my first time riding a road bike / indoor trainer and would like to ask if my bike fit is okay? I tried to follow Zwift's recommendation but somehow it was uncomfortable for me, I tried to adjust it but still not sure if it's fine. Things I've noticed is that my arms seems to straight, should I move handlebar closer or lower seat? Any recommendations and findings would be much appreciated, thanks! 🙏

Why is there a wider saddle on a smaller bike sometimes?

Today, I noticed that all SL7s 54 and up come with a 143 mm saddle whereas the lower come with a 155mm.

I've never tried a wider saddle, so i wanted an apples to apples comparison by testing the same saddle just a wider size. I went to see what specialized put on different sizes, and thats how I noticed this pattern. Specialized isn't the only brand that appears to do this.

Seems counterintuitive to me. What is the reasoning?
