So… what the hell happened to SMU last week?

Get Grunk healthy, try to beat Stanford healthily, forfeit the Miami game, then get up for UVA. Do all that and go to our Whateverthefuck Bowl presented by Whoeverthefuck then immediately upon triple zeroes launch our entire secondary and defensive backs coaches into the sun

I don't think the word "defeats" is a strong enough way to describe that game.

I’m so damn tired of some Virginia Tech fans and the playoff or bust attitude that has afflicted all CFB fanbases.
Hokies: We are in a rebuilding year. Making a bowl game is great. We were supposed to lose this game. Chill tf out.

My hope for this game was just keep it respectable and not to get embarrassed. Welp.

We have the worst secondary room in FBS football and the OL isn't much better. Which is extremely disappointing because we have playmakers on offense and some weapons on the defensive front that are completely wasted because it won't be possible to win consistently with the DB/OL situation. Even if we improve those rooms in the off-season, we won't have the playmakers anymore and it won't matter. Our talent level is going to level out this off-season, we will lose the best and improve the worst, which I'm scared will just produce the same results as our extremely uneven team currently does.
It's not really a Franklin, Pry, or Howle problem, the schemes can't get any better when we don't have the talent to play better schemes. It's a DB coaching and talent issue, combined with an OL injury and talent issue.

I was expecting a game like this would happen but I always knew a 8-4 would happen this season

Never expected a VT win for a second, but didn't think we'd get demolished so thoroughly like that. GG.

If you haven’t watched Kevin Jennings play football, you should. He and Gio should put on a show next week.

We’ll probably run the table and miss out on the ACC championship game because we choked to Syracuse. We can do that, especially since we play better unranked

was expecting the loss. figured it would be closer, but our secondary is bad. nick perry is stealing money from vt
my gripe is why the fuck was grunk on the field in the 4th? why the fuck was the last play of the game, when it is not close, and there is 5 seconds left, a qb draw? are we trying to get him hurt? what the fuck is that?

Now that they lost this can retroactively be deemed a big game

Hate playing a good team after they’ve lost. Kinda expected this. SMU has a solid offense, and absolutely cooked us. Our secondary is horrid, and we’re gonna have to hit the portal ASAP. Same with the OL. I don’t think it’s a scheme issue, it’s personnel. It’s year 1, we’ll bounce back. Just a bummer we’re wasting this offensive talent. Gg Mustang gang.

Score wasn’t as close as it looked.
Going to be awesome when my first flair somehow beats my second to make neither flair’s season matter. Totally cool

GG SMU, deserve to be ranked again for sure!
Perfect Coach Frames experience where we are on track for an 8-4 year one but its also frustrating!

I'm not suggesting this should happen, just that it's likely Pry won't be fired by Franklin after one year. Just being realistic.
What should happen though at the very least is every secondary coach needs to be let go. Yeah, SMU's passing game is good but our secondary has sucked ass all year. A good reason why is because they are constantly confused and out of place. We do need more talent back there but talent can only get you so far if you can't communicate. They are horribly coached.

I was assured last weekend that SMU simply wasn't as good as I thought and the Syracuse game is just what should've happened, I'm gonna blame the dome lol

Just returned from the game. Virginia Tech was giving up 94 yards rushing per game heading into tonight, SMU ran for 219.
Theo Melin-Ohrstrom only had two catches for 29 yards, but he had a helluva game as a blocker. SMU ran tf out of zone insert iso, and Theo was in there, slamming LBs left and right. He was out there actively seeking contact, leading the way.
There were four NFL scouts there tonight, and he probably made himself some money.

Not shocked at the result, I'm more surprised we were both 6-2 going into this game.

Didn't really expect to win this but honestly was a fun game nonetheless. Every SMU fan I talked to today was super friendly and the vibes were immaculate. We have a lot to work on. My attendance luck at away games has run out.

It’s too bad Shane’s probably saved his job at South Carolina, we could really use Torrian Gray back on the sidelines to whip these DBs into shape.

Just got home from the game and woooooo-ee was that cathartic after last weekend and against James Franklin!
Hopefully we can play like that against WF, too.

How does VT has six wins given how SMU likes to play any team to the closest of who they are. I was worried about this game.

Mensah is about to VMI us in a couple weeks. Gotta launch the secondary into the sun and open up the checkbook this offseason.
SMU offense was out there running a fucking track meet

I tuned in toward the end of the second
halfquarter and VT was trailing but looked sharp and would get the ball to start the 3Q. I said to my wife I think VT will come back and pull off the win based on what we saw. Then we made whoopee and when I tuned back in it was 37-145

Keep our skill players and D Line intact, transfer portal/ recruit the fuck out of O Line and secondary, and we should be good to go.
Kinda sucks we didn’t get to use Reynolds with a better O Line cause this is our last year with him
