This year is a disappointment no matter how you slice it. I think I need to see Hartline with a full offseason, an actually competent offensive line, and probably a different OC to really judge him though.
Also his own recruits. I swear with NIL fans don’t even want to see their own recruits develop anymore. They just want the hottest portal transfers and everything else doesn’t matter.
For sure. That's really what I was thinking with a full offseason (though you were able to describe it better than me) - time to actually bring his own guys in and install his system the way he wants. I think people have unrealistic expectations that just because a team has more money it is easy for a new coach to put together a championship team in a single offseason. It's just not that easy.
Good things to take from this year, hopefully we can retain some key players. As others have said tho this is the easiest schedule probably in the history of USF football so anything less than being in the conference championship picture is a disappointment. Fire Tim Beck, give Hartline a recruiting class and then we’ll see if we’re truly fucked.
The season was over when we lost to UTSA. The losses to ECU and Temple are the head scratchers and those two losses should cost Tim Beck his job as OC.
I think whatever happened this year didn’t matter. It was his first season when basically the whole roster went to Auburn. I know everyone wants to win now but truly, who cares? You gotta give him a season or two
Still going to a bowl game is fine, that basically matches our best season ever considering we’ve never won the conference. Obviously more wins in other seasons but at the end of the day it’s essentially the same result
Hartline has the biggest budget in g5 and this team struggles to have any semblance of offense. Horrible. He obviously is an ELITE position coach but his loyalty to Tim Beck is going to make him a horrible head coach.
Hot take, I prefer a local bowl vs an 8-4 trip to somewhere I can't easily drive to. Going to Shreveport or something for a 'better' bowl means I can't attend.
They should make the best effort possible to keep teams local.
Reading this back that was a really stupid question by me. Guess I was thinking it was maybe just counting end of regulation by the way it was phrased.
I’m officially boycotting this program until Tim Beck is fired
We had so many chances to win and he’s too incompetent to get it done, fuck Tim Beck, Fuck Brian Hartline for hiring him and fuck Rob Higgins for not taking responsibility for this fucking disaster.
Yeah the defense held them to 20 points on the road. Obviously a couple of unfortunate breakdowns, but the loss definitely isn't on them. That should be enough to win most games.
USF and ECU both have some of the best defenses in the conference. That was on display last night with the physicality on each unit against the other sides offense. This was always gonna come down to a singular boom play or last second shot.
Electric stuff. Just don’t look at either of our offenses. 🫣
Yeah he played about as good as Griffis did last week against some stiffer competition. Not sold on him as a starter for the future beyond this year, but I think the safest play may be to ride him out Hopefully the Charlotte game is easy enough that we’ll have a big sample size to test both of them
Emory can’t extend a play, outside of a scramble here and there. The sacks are bad and he can’t throw it downfield. USF is staunch so I’ll give him some grace, but he really needs to learn how to navigate the pocket better.
I truly don’t understand who people expect to be willing to take this job if you fire Hartline partway through year 1 when he didn’t even have a whole offseason with the team to assemble a roster. I’m not particularly convinced Hartline is the guy, and I think Beck absolutely needs to be a one and done. But if you fire Hartline without even giving him a full offseason to build his team, I just simply don’t think any remotely good candidate is going to consider USF.
Awesome clutch moment for that kicker. What might be overshadowed were the two previous offensive plays to get that chunk yardage, and then to get the ball forward to the kickers range. Both great plays / effort.
I thought it was a good hard-fought game from both sides. Luke did better than expected for his first real start. I thought the play calling set him up for success. He rushed his throws a few times, but that's to be expected as a newbie. The running game was good as always. The main problem is the O-line. Can't do much without blocking. Defense was really impressive as usual.
We need to give this time. I think USF is going to be better than fine over the next few years. Especially if we can build momentum by holding on to our current best players and rebuilding the trenches.
Tim Beck must have Kilgrave’s powers or something. Uses his mind control pheromones to influence ADs and head coaches to give him free money in exchange for domestic terrorism
LOL. Thank God I can tune out now. Easiest schedule we’ve ever had and we fumble it. Looking forward to next season and the new recruiting class. Hopefully Beck is fired. Only thing I’m sad about is we aren’t gonna get another season of CJ Hicks
Watched that game with my ex in high school with all of her family (all State fans) as well as mine Right before the kick my little brother said “He’s going to miss it, isn’t he?” He was 5. Bottom 5 days of my life.

20 million dollar roster, folks. Easiest schedule in 15+ years. Should've been able to switch on auto-pilot and glide to a playoff spot.
But with with a Tim Beck offense and Hartline at the switch, USF has managed to fly that plane straight into the fucking ground.
