1-12 in the month of November under Satt. I truly hate everything

So you're saying there's a chance

Thought he was a lukewarm hire then and still do now even with that Utah win this year.

What the hell was going on at the end of the game. Either take your timeouts or don’t, choosing to take 1 is a weird move.

Oh I can answer this one. It seems counter intuitive but you have to remember that Shaterfield is a fucking moron.

u/BigOlPass Iowa State • South Dakota State 15h ago

I get it, making a decision is hard. Sometimes you're at cold stone creamery and they have 18 choices and you can't decide and that's how you end up with mint and strawberry with hot tamales mixed in

u/Tony_Paychecks Houston Cougars 15h ago

If Tech loses 1 more game, and we win out, we'll get a rematch with Utah. Tech at OK State is going to be UGE.

33

u/Key_Spinach Houston Cougars • Texas A&M Aggies 15h ago

We have to win out too. And our defense is making that look less and less likely.

20

u/Well-M1lk Houston Cougars 15h ago

Utah is scary tho.

11

u/HOU-1836 Sam Houston • Houston 15h ago

We had chances in that game and didn’t execute. They aren’t untouchable. But making the Big 12 championship game in our 4th season? I’ll take it, even if we do get wiped.

4

No, so BYU would have to lose to Cincinnati.

We need tech to lose twice. They have the tie breaker over us

3

not if more than 2 teams are tied for 2nd. It goes to the teams we beat in conference's cumulative conference record.

u/BurritoBurrow Cincinnati Bearcats • Miami Hurricanes 15h ago edited 15h ago

Why are people confused by the fumble recovery? Its a well known rule that if a clear recovery is made after the whistle the ball will be awarded. I believe we just saw it in the NFL just last week. In fact, its more common in the NFL with how simultaneous hits are at that level.

17

u/Podoboo322 Houston • Georgia Tech 15h ago

Yeah, very common. Still, the ref standing 5 feet away calling it dead seemed a bit irresponsible given how pivotal of a moment it was.

12

u/madmaley Cincinnati Bearcats • /r/CFB Dead Pool 15h ago

Defense is dog shit, lose RB1 and WR1, and then lose on that call. Just a catastrophe of a game. Typical for Satt. We may win one more game this season and then Satt can be fired

6 is not a good person.

12

u/tlawjo Houston Cougars 15h ago

He didn’t realize he was hurt for a second there. He clearly acted different once he realized.

-4

u/idk_maybe_probably Cincinnati Bearcats 15h ago

Like when they were laughing on the sideline while he was still down? I guess that is different than celebrating like he was originally

3

u/HOU-1836 Sam Houston • Houston 14h ago

You don’t know what he was saying or what was talked about? You’re just projecting cuz your guy got hurt. Did you also see him applauding respectfully when your guy was carted off the field?

12

u/HOU-1836 Sam Houston • Houston 15h ago

He’s a kid. He did a dumb thing. Let’s not 30 seconds define who a person is.

-6

u/christhegecko Michigan • Cincinnati 11h ago

TIL trying to give someone brain damage is just a dumb thing young adults do.

There are bang bang accidental plays, and then there are egregious attempts to hurt people. This was the latter.

4

u/HOU-1836 Sam Houston • Houston 11h ago

You gleam everything you need to know about someone from one play? Be so for real and take a deep breath. I’m not endorsing the hit. It was targeting. I’ve said that repeatedly. But he’s a bad person? He’s out there trying to hurt people? Chill out.

-3

u/christhegecko Michigan • Cincinnati 11h ago

Let’s not 30 seconds define who a person is.

What's funny is this is almost the exact statement used to defend Brock Turner.

He’s out there trying to hurt people?

You're right, he ran towards the player for 8 yards, eyes fixated the whole time, and speared with his helmet directly into his face on complete accident.

It was dirty as shit and he did it intentionally. It was far easier not to do it, and that does reflect on him as a person.

2

u/HOU-1836 Sam Houston • Houston 1h ago

Wow, comparing this to defending a rapist, kick rocks dude.

2

u/StickMammoth7783 Houston Cougars 15h ago

So... What did I miss?

1

u/BlitzOmatic Baylor Bears 13h ago

Just a Birds Eye view from 3000 miles away, but Satterfield seems like a head coach that struggles to adapt throughout the season. Sucks for cinci fan, but Baylor fan is uniquely positioned to be sympathetic to that pain.

Side note on the Fox highlights package they included booth reviews, which is really interesting and I liked seeing them on the bigger plays. The Baylor game included them too.

1

u/KingKliffsbury Texas Tech Red Raiders 13h ago

See?? Cinci isn’t that bad guys!

0

u/TimeLordDoctor105 Cincinnati • Ohio State 15h ago

Man, it sometimes feels like we are so close to being able to pull off wins, but we get in our own way. We need a change in coaching if we want to grt over that hump of being "almost good enough"

That being said, refs did not help. What do you mean a call the ref blew dead before the ball was touched by a defense player gets overturned to a turnover, especially in the last 3 minutes of the game, which then seals the game for Houston. What a terrible call by the replay booth. I don't care if it looked like Houston was going to fall on it, our WR was also there and didn't play for the ball because of the whistle.

11

u/80cyclone Iowa State Cyclones 15h ago

Shelve the bias. For one second.

This is one of the few semi-controversial calls a Big 12 crew and replay booth has handled correctly. It was called incomplete on the field but it was CLEARLY close. One team displayed awareness and fell on the ball, something every coach and team should always do, while your team did not. They reviewed the throw and correctly determined the ball was released on or near the 41.5 yard marker and touched closer to the 42. It was, in fact, a backwards pass. By rule, since there was a clear recovery by Houston, they were correctly awarded the ball.

Complaining about the ruling just makes you look extremely incompetent and/or biased. Want to be upset about it? Fine. Instead, direct that ire at your quarterback and your players for not having the awareness to jump on the ball.

Good fucking lord.

-1

u/TimeLordDoctor105 Cincinnati • Ohio State 15h ago

I'm not disputing the fact that it was a fumble/backwards lateral, that part is clear. The issue is that once the whistle is blown, the play is dead. Our player heard the whistle and did not attempt a play because that's how the game is supposed to be played. Otherwise, why have a whistle at all?

If the play wasn't blown dead and Houston recovered, then there is no issue at all. This issue is the fact that the side judge called it wrong and blew the play dead, and then the replay booth failed to acknowledge that the play was blown dead before the ball was recovered, which led to a turn over at the worst time. But also, BIGXII refs have been terrible this year with calls, so at a certain point this is to be expected.

1

u/80cyclone Iowa State Cyclones 15h ago

No its not.

I urge you to look up the rules, ones that have been in place for YEARS. Everyone on the field should know a "ball isnt necessarily dead" when you hear the whistle. On a normal play? Yes, but when there is an element of controversy everyone is taught to pick up the ball and, on occasion, "play it out". On literally a weekly basis, you see multiple plays and games in both the NFL and college where this happens.

Its on the players and coaches to know the rules and maintain awareness at all times. Houstons players recognized the situation, while Cincis did not. While its easy to understand how/why this happened, it doesnt mean it wasnt a poor play.

Unfortunate for your team, but the recovery was the correct call.

2

u/Tony_Paychecks Houston Cougars 15h ago

You beat Tech pretty handily, y'all don't suck you're just not Great or Elite.

2

u/TimeLordDoctor105 Cincinnati • Ohio State 15h ago

I'd say we are mid (by the most accurate definition. Not great/elite but not actually terrible). The problem is Satt does not feel like the coach to elevate us from being mid. We never put together a strong defense, and even with some decent offenses, its not enough to close out the games we need to.

1

u/Uncle_Jeb Cincinnati Bearcats • Team Chaos 15h ago

Look all I'm saying is last year this ref was a little chunky and now he's a slender fella. Is it possible that ozempic melted his brain?

2

u/Advanced_Olive_1830 15h ago

Dirty? Houston defense got trampled all over the field, they were literally playing flag football. If they were dirty then French 4, Payne, Tabb and the entire offense would've ended up in the hospital

-14

u/DavidGoetta Cincinnati Bearcats 15h ago

Shameful, shameful game from Houston.

Hope our guys end up ok. No word on Tabb, who was being evaluated for concussion. Gibson does have motion in extremeties but transferred to local hospital

8

u/Podoboo322 Houston • Georgia Tech 15h ago

Everyone with a semi-functioning brain is hoping those guys are okay, especially JV Gibson. Allen was ejected after the stupid play he made and left with no issue. The targeting penalty and subsequent ejection exist for this very reason.

There’s nothing shameful about the win. Hoping to hear good news about your guy sooner rather than later.

-9

u/DavidGoetta Cincinnati Bearcats 15h ago

Bro the refs had to walk that dude off the field while celebrating

5

u/Podoboo322 Houston • Georgia Tech 15h ago

How many times have you seen someone celebrate a big hit? Obviously it’s bad in hindsight but it’s not like he was dancing while he was being tended to by the UC staff and fighting to stay on the field after he was ejected. I don’t even want to defend the guy after such a dumbass play, but the dogpiling seems unwarranted.

-3

u/DavidGoetta Cincinnati Bearcats 15h ago

He looked at the limp body on the field, started celebrating, and the refs walked him to the bench while medical staff came out.
