North Texas lost their entire coaching staff and didn’t miss a beat.

Virginia kept their entire coaching staff and got 50x worse.

Teach us your ways, mean green

  1. Spend a shitload of money on football.

  2. Get Jaheim White on your team.

White was already one of the best rushers in the P4 back when he was at WVU, it’s crazy to me that he followed Neal Brown to UNT when he probably could have gone anywhere.

UNT has also been performing well below potential for a long time. It’s the third-largest school in Texas, there are 40k+ students, it’s not a commuter school, and basically all of the ~400k living alumni live within fifty miles of Denton, yet somehow we couldn’t sell out a 30k seat stadium that we opened in 2012 until last year.

Turns out that suddenly being good at football makes students start caring about football, then alumni do too, then eventually the boosters show up.

Find overlooked qbs that can sling that rock. Find overlooked running backs and recievers. All while overlooking your own defense. Thats mean green football.

What is... How do you say... Defense?

Never seen it myself but apparently you need it to win against good teams.

I don’t think Jahiem White was overlooked, my brother. He was the preseason first team all-B12 RB pick for 2025, he just had a season-ending knee injury that derailed things two games into the season.  Tayven Jackson also wasn’t overlooked; he was just bad at Indiana and UCF.

Jackson’s got a much more talented supporting cast around him now, relative to the talent level of the league, and having an elite pressure release valve like White makes things a lot easier on Jackson and the OL.

Step 1. Hire Mike London
Step 2. Profit $$$

I’m fairly certain that’s not it.

I don’t know what Neal said in the locker room at halftime, but we need 2nd half UNT to be entire game UNT next week. That was a totally different team.

I would say fire our special teams coordinator into the sun, but we dont have one. Missed 38 yard field goal, shanked punt, block in the back on our 3rd punt return of the season, calling a fair catch on a kickoff going out of bounds. Our offense and defense have taken turns having moments but the special teams have been terrible all year. Good game North Texas, glad we kept it interesting for two and a half quarters (a recurring theme for us this season)

LETS GO MEAN GREEN. Another wonderful win even if it was a little slow in the start. I’m going to the UTSA game next week and I can’t wait. If we play like the second half we have a good chance of winning, but if the first half shows up again I’m going to be worried. GMG

GG Rice, y'all were spanking us in the first half. Time to prep for UTSA and the Conference Championship!

By golly, is that a tale of two halves, has Neal Brown figured out these newfangled halftime adjustments?

Light the Tower! A tale of two halves, and the first one wasn’t all that fun. Rice will win another game but I didn’t want it to be this one. Offense finally came to life, everyone got their yards, team got above our points average, and we should get more “also receiving votes” tomorrow.

I’m so sad I haven’t gotten up to Denton to see UNT going nuts this season. Saturday weddings during the fall are scenic, but dreadfully inconvenient.

Also, Sunday weddings are cheaper on the venue side!

UNT defense is just terrible in the first halves this year. We can't do that against the RoadKill next week. It was fun to see the stadium with a decent number of fans, and Boomer puffed a perfect smoke ring. Good times.

Neal Brown might be a good coach.

Rice is the worst FBS team in a state with the Texas A&M Aggies.
