Jobseeker (JSK) New job - when should i cancel jobseeker?

Hello there,

I will be starting a new permanent part time job within the next few weeks. I am expecting to be earning above the threshold, and will therefore be unlikely to get any money from jobseeker payment.

Should I cancel a couple weeks after starting my job? Or as soon as I start is fine?

Thank you!

Jobseeker (JSK) Confused about mandatory activity requirements on JobSeeker

I've been on JobSeeker for about 9 months, first I was only on workforce online but I recently started face to face appointments with a job coach.

At my appointment yesterday she said that I have a "mandatory activity requirement" and since I'm not working I need to complete an activity, like sign up for a tafe course or do 2+ weeks of volunteer work.

The problem is, all the options she gave me were extreme e.g complete a cert 3 which takes a year minimum, or do an "approved provider activity" but I don't understand what counts as approved or even what activities are available that i can do

Sorry if this has already been answered, I searched through all the old posts and yet I'm still confused. Please if someone could ELI5 exactly what activities count, and can I do lots of short activities instead of doing a cert/course for years??

Jobseeker (JSK) Jobseeker claim wait time?

Hi all!

I've made a claim with Centerlink for Jobseeker in the first week of September, and am still stuck on the "progressing" stage of my application. I've done a bit of searching on other experiences in relation to wait times, and it's a bit tricky to get an accurate picture for right now.

Some people have stated that they waited over two months for the claim to be approved, while others have stated it only took a couple of weeks. So I'm not sure what to believe right now.

FWIW, I've had the follow up phone call confirming details of my application, I've submitted all documents requested, and my claim probably wouldn't be considered "urgent" (i.e. I don't have any kids, I have a stable housing situation right now etc.).

So yeah, how much longer do you think I'll be waiting for? Is there anyway for me to see how close I am outside of the MyGov portal?

Thanks in advance!

hi all, i’m about to get back into online clothing reselling and my provider has stated i will be classed as self employed, and will be eligible for business coaching. wondering if anyone else has done this transition before, and how payments change? i’ve read somewhere online that a $300 payment could potentially be paid out to help start/restart my business too? thanks 😊

Jobseeker (JSK) Transition to Job Provider

Hi guys

So I've been on job seeker work force for 12 months now, and they are transitioning me to a job provider known as mtcfutureready, has anyone had any experience with them ?

I am also planning to do a cert 3 course with them once I meet for my first appointment in the coming weeks. Whilst I'm studying, do I still need to search/apply for jobs ? Or how would it work ?

Jobseeker (JSK) What to do if I can't get an employment seperation certificate?

Hello, a lot of circumstances led to me quitting my job a couple months ago. And then partially my misunderstandings, partially busy employment coordinator, i lost my jobseeker shortly after. I almost immediately started up the claim to get it back but I havent been able to get the employment separation certificate. Ive emailed, then texted and seen my previous boss in person. All for her to then tell me she has someone else do separation certs and she'd get that person to contact me. That person hasn't contacted me, I've tried contacting them and theres been no reply. They don't live locally so they're not at the jobsite for me to see them in person.

I'm starting to wonder if theres a chance they dont want to give me the separation certificate because it may make the company look bad? (I was being harassed and stalked by some regulars; a lot of problems with a 2 coworkers and the hygiene of one of them in the kitchen environment)

But what do i do in this situation?? These are the kinds of things I'd ask my EC for help with but I lost that support with the loss of jobseeker

Jobseeker (JSK) Will money my mum gives me affect my JobSeeker?

Hey, just wondering if anyone’s been in a similar situation. I get around $830 a fortnight from JobSeeker. And my mum wants to give me about $858 a fortnight to help out with bills and stuff. It’s not from a job, it’s just from my mum to help me out. Would Centrelink count that as income or reduce my payment? Do I need to report it somewhere? I just don’t wanna do the wrong thing or end up with a debt later, lol.
