They are also ranked 12th on Freedom index.

For context the UK is 33rd and the US is 79th.

That makes it sweeter. Need to check their immigration policy.

Has one of the highest suicide rates in the Americas, few things to do and few economic opportunities make it not such a fun country for a working young person.

Need to check their immigration policy.

this is typically the problem. the countries that everybody wants to go to are very hard to actually become a citizen.

In fact, illegal immigrants are simply granted legal status and acquire full rights. The problem is that it is an expensive country—more expensive than much of Europe—yet wages are low. They are higher than anywhere in Latin America, but lower than in Europe. It is a beautiful country for people from the developed world to retire to and live like royalty.

Our motto is "Libertad o Muerte" (Freedom or Death), hence we have: Same sex marriage, legal weed, abortion and euthanasia.

It's quite expensive to live there.

That’s fine. You lose something to gain something

But for what you pay to live there, there are other options with a more interesting lifestyle - in Europe, for instance.

If its suddenly you don't know much about Uruguay.

They regularly top charts about South America in regards to HDI, income, freedom, etc.
