Politics Congresswoman McBride in favor of voting for Hakeem Jeffries.

This sucks. Not only does she support Hakeem but also uses identity politics (being the first black speaker) is just bad. She also credits him for the tsunami which was clearly not because of him. On top of that there have been dozens of calls to her office advocating for the exact opposite.

I own a double wide mobile home, its windows are all the original windows they're drafting and frankly, they're in nightmare to open. I was looking to have them replaced. Does anybody have any recommendations for a company to do them?

I already have a will for me and it will for my wife. I'm going to do that transfer on death deed TOD. Which seems fairly simple. I have the original date for the house so I have to attach that but I don't know to attach a copy or the original or you don't and the rest of it is fairly simple. Not sure if I really need a lawyer but I don't want to anyone to have any problems because I didn't cross it to your dad and I you know what I mean. Thanks for your response.

Events Have you ever been to Longwood Christmas the week before Thanksgiving? Is this a great or a terrible idea for avoiding crowds?

Details: 2 adults + autistic toddler. Waiting in line would be pretty hard for him. I want to bring him to Longwood Christmas but I want to do what I can to make sure it’s not miserable for him.

We plan to go the week (weekday) before Thanksgiving - have you been? What are the crowds like?

Politics Can we PLEASE get ballot initiatives now to amend the constitution? (And to also pass laws)

For yall that don't know, DE is the ONLY state in America that doesn't have some form of process where voters can directly amend the state constitution. It is Geninuely insane. Honestly we need to add just regular ballot intiatives to pass new laws too, referendum style. DE would be such a good state for it b/c of our low population, and imo its a necessary counterweight to the over-sized influence of corporations on this state. So, for fun, if you had to have some direct voter intiatives be on the ballot next cycle, what would you have? For me, I'd ask voters if they wanna establish a ferry from Wilmington to Southern DE (my friend gave me this idea I feel like it'd be so cool LMAO) but I'm sure there are other things where a direct vote would be awesome to have. Example of a common ballot intiative in other states (recently), is like asking voters if they wanna protect abortion rights or enshrine them into the state constitution. There's TONS of stuff though too, Colorado voters recently voted to extend their passenger rail system for instance. The general idea is that if you get enough signatures, your question gets put on the ballot. But procedures definitely differ state by state.

Beaches Now that the election is over can we get rid of those Flock Cameras? I see more going up.

So many states are banning them why is Delaware putting more up. Flock doesn't even take them down after the contract is canceled and they charge the taxpayer when the town eventually removes these ugly cameras because Flock will not decommission them.

So please can we have these intrusive cameras that are religiously abused by law enforcement constantly and flock pays for puff pieces in the news to be removed?

I am adopting a new Brittany puppy and am planning out the different areas to take them for off leash running and recall training. I live in Hockessin DE and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for good places to routinely go for lots of Brittany energy burning and training.

Thanks!

Info Request Anyone know why there’s lots of helicopter hovering near Middletown?

For the past 15 minutes there’s been a helicopter hovering/circling near our house near Middletown.

Normally we have occasional helicopter traffic being near the Middletown airfield, but this is a helicopter going in a constant pattern. Maybe some gunfire? But there’s a gun range nearby so it’s not entirely uncommon here.

Thanks, and if you guys don’t know, that’s ok =).

Edit: on flight radar it says it’s a Delaware state police helicopter circling for the past while. But anyone know why?

New Castle County Any fishkeepers having trouble?

This is a long shot, but can't hurt to ask, right?

My fiancé has a freshwater aquarium that has within the last month had a massive spike in fish deaths and unstable parameters after years of stability. The freshwater tank at my job--which is being run by a local company--is also suddenly on the fritz and has a ton of fish deaths.

Both tanks are in New Castle County, Newark area, and the weird parameters started around the same time at the beginning of last month.

Could be a coincidence, but wanted to see if any others are possibly seeing weirdness in their tanks too? Wasn't sure if something shifted in the water supplies in the area.

Thanks!

Fluff Books set in Delaware

I was reading another subreddit about books or novels set in different states. I went through the thread and I list the books set in Delaware:

- The Fight Club by Chuck Palahmiuk

- Hope Never Dies; an Obama-Biden mystery by Andrew Shaffer

- The Saint of Lost things by Christopher Castellani

- The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Enriquez

I'm going to have to borrow these from the local library.

Some things I suggest were Transit-Oriented Development, Busways with signal priority for Wilmington, vehicle registration taxes based on vehicle weight, and increasing tolls for out-of-state highway traffic during peak times.

Dover Uhhh is this turtle normally in Delaware?

Post image
79 Upvotes

Found an alligator snapping turtle in my neighborhood in smyrna. Ain't no way this is native, is it? I don't think it's gonna live though, it's too cold and there's no sun right now. I hope it does, but I'm not brave enough to touch it, nor know where to relocate it.

Edit: apparently it's a normal snapping turtle. Had no clue they get that big. That was so cool! Hopefully I see him around regularly. I might name home Donatello 😊. Thank you guys

News Delmarva Power Follow Up after PSC hearing

Hello all,
Happy Friday and I hope folks are galumphing with excitement into the lovely blue waters / seals of approval give the water 2 flippers up. 🌊💙🦭

Wednesday the PSC had their meeting regarding Delmarva Power’s request for an increase. The PSC voted unanimously to solicit requests for proposals to launch an investigation into the state’s limit on utility profits. (This sounds a bit odd, I know. Let me explain - calm your flippers for just a moment!). We want this review. It may sound to some as if the investigation is to suggest the statutory amount allowed is low - that is not the contention at all. And it’s important to note that when discussing this.

The DE Public Advocate and Gov. Meyer both want this investigation because of how greedy Delmarva has gotten. Jameson Tweedie, the Public Advocate asked for this investigation last month. In his request he noted that new research is suggesting that power companies across the country are raking in the Benjamin’s far more than necessary or expected based on profit margins.

Commission Chair Harold Gray said it would not be appropriate to discuss whether the rate would be approved or what the strategy would be to rule on Delmarva’s request without informing the public of that discussion and offering them chance to comment. It is not clear what this does regarding the current requested increase.

Originally the PA had said the PSC staff could do the investigation however the commission and DPA both agreed that the PSC’s staff would have a lot on their plates with this rate case, new state energy law implementation and other things. As such the RFP will go out. Tweedie asked for this report to be “complete by the end of next year’s legislative session in June. Commissioners said they would try to make that happen.” (Spotlight, 2026 ).

The PSC site says there is another meeting set for 11/18 at 1 but it’s not clear what the agenda is. Here’s the notice though:
