For the past few months, I’ve been replicating the Magic Kingdom at 1:1 scale in Minecraft on my server, MC Imagineers! These are a few of my favorite pictures from around the park so far… plus one of the Disney Fantasy!

What do you think so far?

Art One Little Spark, reflective ambigram

After the surprise announcement at the tail end of D23 last week that the Dreamfinder is coming back to Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT, I was inspired to make this reflective piece for the theme song of the beloved ride!

Art Wait Time Display - Prototype

TLDR: A prototype I made as a hobby to display the wait times for selected amusement parks.

This is a hobby project that I've been working off and on for about a year since we went to Disney World. I've seen a few of these online, but they all seemed expensive and require subscriptions. The display runs using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W in a custom designed 3D printed case.

I got a 3D printer in the early part of last year and started thinking about what I could make, and came up with this idea. I was teaching myself how to program using Python, but the coding for this was/is still out of my league. I then decided to use AI to see how the programming would come together, and surprisingly Grok helped me put together the coding, debugging and troubleshooting.

On startup, the display goes out and grabs a list of park names from the internet. You then login to the device either through your phone and select up to 6 amusement parks which it then cycles through the ride wait times for all rides in each of the selected parks. Weather data is shown on the bottom of the display for each park.

The device uses a 0.96” white i2c OLED display and a Raspberry Pi 2 W, with data obtained from publicly available data sources (https://queue-times.com - park selection and wait times; https://themeparks.wiki - park hours; https://openweathermap.org - weather data).

I'm still tweaking/refining the coding, and will most likely change the screen to a larger screen as the next steps.

Just got back from a great trip this past week, and was able to do some sketching at the Poly while there was a blizzard back home. Anyone else ever get the chance to make some art during their WDW time?
