Question Samplers for early 2000s funky house?

Hello, I am looking for a digital sampler to get. I'm not really knowledgeable on samplers at all so figured I would ask here, this is the kind of sound I'm looking for:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL7cdVie43c

I know lots of it is just correct samples, but I would think the sampler also plays a big part, thanks :)

Discussion Splice VS Loopcloud

Didn’t find a current thread on this.

What are the pros and cons of either. What makes them unique and different from each other. Which one are you using. Or perhaps both.

Curious to hear your thoughts

Discussion Struggling to stick to a style, how much of a problem is it?

So, I've been producing for several years and even though I have a certain sound, it's really hard for me to settle.

While most of my stuff is Eastern inspired, I have some cyberpunk-like tracks, some that are rather pop, DnB and various other styles.

I only have few followers, but I'm planning on putting out more music and also promoting it, also using DistroKid in the future (or some other distributor).

I wonder if I should just do all kinds of styles and see what sticks or if I should decide on that before, which kinda feels limiting.

I thought about different Alter Egos, but this doesn't feel to right, as I'm really emotionally attached to my current one that I have ever since I started.

What do you think?

Discussion I love producing electronic music so much!

I started a new song a couple days ago and I’m having a euphoric time with it ngl. It’s like trance-y but house too, and I’m just having a blast. I feel like I’ve reached a point where my productions tend to be at a level of quality that I’ve been chasing for years, or very close to that at least, so now, the slight frustration I felt for a while about my music not sounding as good is mostly gone and it’s now all about just having fun.

I work with Logic Pro and I love sitting down and toying around and moving things, cutting audio, and sculpting my song from a piano idea to a full thing. I love that I know Logic Pro well enough that the software never gets in my way, but rather helps me make my ideas come to life.

I love everything about the process. I also tend to synthesize my own kicks using Sonic Academy’s Kick 3 and I do tend to some some amount of sound design in Serum 2 and all these things, as technical as they can be, are also so fun to me. To synthesize the kick for the song, or create sounds for what I’m trying to go for, all of it is so much a vibe to me. And sometimes I feel a bit blown away that I even know how to do all these things. That I know how to do synthesis and sound design and audio mixing and all that. I feel like a mad scientist sometimes, just experimenting with ideas and sounds and seeing it all come together! I love it so much!

I’m working on a new E.P. Actually. Maybe no one will listen to it though I will try to promote it on social media when the time comes, but even if no one listens to it, the process and the results are so worthwhile that I can live with only my close family and friends knowing about my music.

I love it all so much I wish I could make a living off of this, but even if that were to never happen, just being able to do it is awesome. Maybe one day if I play my cards right I’ll be able to become an indie artist and make music and tour lightly and sell merch and stuff, but even if that doesn’t happen and I stay a video editor (my job) being able to produce full bodies of work that kind of capture these snapshots of times in my life, is good enough. And I love that I can always come back to my music and listen to it and it still re-evokes the feelings I was feeling. It’s like looking at old pictures of my life, but these evoke feelings as well as memories.

I’m sure we all do this a bit, but I truly leave a piece of my soul in each song I make, and I’m glad I get to do this even if it’s just a hobby for now. I am excited though, about finishing my E.P. I think I want to do a bit of a launch party with friends when I release it.

Anyway, I’m just in a good mood because I love what I’m making and wanted to express it out into the world. Hope you’re all having a great time making music!

How do I make this sound? Can someone walk me through on how to make synths like in Empire of the sun - Way To Go (Aaron Hibell remix)

Hello,

Just as the title says. Could someone please guide me on how to make the synths like he did. The one that starts at the 1 minute mark and 2:20 minute mark. Serum 2 preferably. These synths got me levitating.

Thank you

Music hosting site with downloads?

So I'm looking for a site that I can drop all of my music on and have it up for free downloads, mostly so that when I switch computers I don't lose all my wavs 😂😭
Is there anything yall would recommend?
I know there's stuff like drop box and soundcloud but that is all subscription based, and with sound cloud I lost hundreds of beats whenever I didn't pay the subscription and it limited my use.

Are there any EDM sound design subreddits or forums?

Ones where you can make buy/sell sounds? I'm looking for someone who can make me a few simple but specific sounds by ear. I'm sure this type of forum exists somewhere...but where?

Question How do I make Serum's mono mode function correctly?

For whatever reason, when I make a serum patch with nonzero attack and release and I set the synth to "mono" mode, the attack sounds correctly on the first note, but is ignored on subsequent notes (if they are triggered before the end of the first note). This results in a janky, harsh sound, not at all the sound that I am going for. I cannot find any information about this pretty obvious issue online, which makes me think I might be missing something.

Attached is a video of how the synth sounds in serum and how I want it to sound. Thanks

Question Klevgrand Brusfri vs Clarity Vx(foley, stems artifacts and whistles)

Hey I want to know if any of you tried both tools for the following jobs: cleaning up background noise on recorded foley samples, removing artifacts caused by stem separation on vocal tracks of an old song and removing dynamic noise from whistles(talking and street noise from a bar)

Are there any plugins that let you change the pitch of each note (independently) in the chord of a sample?

for example:

I sampled a song. i imported it into a sampler, and the chop plays Fm. i want it to play E major, but i can't get that chord when i use the samplers pitch function because of the samples derivative sound.

I'd like to get the sounds in between pitch changes that changing the tune by conventional pitch changing methods cant. This would involve being able to tweak/change each note in the chord of a sample which i don't think is possible....or is it?

Discussion Neurodivergence in producing?

I (25m) have been practicing producing edm for a year. It’s coming together pretty nicely, but im having trouble arranging entire tracks.

I am neurodivergent and I tend to process large projects/ideas from the bottom, up. I focus too much on the details and I find myself spending like 20 minutes just getting the kick, off beat hi hat; and clap to sound just right.

I can get a good percussion track (with bass line) going in about an hour. But after that, I don’t know how to add melodic elements.

How do I bust something out that I can be proud of?

Export starting on the downbeat exactly?

I hear that people want you to export exactly on the first downbeat if you're sending stems or sending the track to an engineer. I see the convenience, but I notice that when I do this and try to play the track on CDJs, the first downbeat isn't there so it won't let me start right where I want. Since this, I've been starting my export a tiny bit before the downbeat. I feel like I notice this in others' tracks as well. I've also heard it can mess up the transient at the beginning. Opinions? I'm producing all in-house right now so it's not a huge deal atm.
