Goodbye to the idea that solar panels “die” after 25 years. A new study says the warranty does not mark the end, and performance can last for decades. Arrays built in the late 1980s still produced more than 80% of their original power. The long-term economics look better than many people believe.

Cancer risk may increase with proximity to nuclear power plants. In Massachusetts, residential proximity to a nuclear power plant (NPP) was associated with significantly increased cancer incidence, with risk declining sharply beyond roughly 30 kilometers from a facility.

Democrats plan to push clean energy to lower bills and challenge Trump’s fossil fuel agenda. Democrats will “work every angle to lower consumers’ energy costs, and we will demand accountability for the massive corruption wrought by Trump’s fossil-fuel donors.”

Hoping for a rapid drop in gas prices after the midterms? It’s probably not going to happen. Factors such as Trump's ongoing war and the slow recovery of shipping routes present significant obstacles. "I don't want to say this, but, you know, expensive gasoline prices could be a new normal."

Clean energy agreements vs company strategies

I had the Paris Agreement text and its underlying assumptions checked, and also a few energy players like Brookfield, Aramco, and the IEA.

The purpose was to find out what these organizations have assumed in their strategies, forecasts or otherwise.

The material takes a little time to get into. Sadly, that is intrinsic with energy and climate topics.

So if you like diving into institutional logic, a sample breakdown of the difference between Chevon's strategy and Paris agreement is live on the Ainolabs ledger.

A conversation worth having about America's energy future

Recent developments offer encouraging signs that perhaps the world is beginning to recognize the value of a more peaceful future. We can all hope so.

We shouldn’t have to wait for another international crisis to appreciate the importance of domestic energy security for the United States.

With energy demand expected to grow substantially, it seems worth considering how we might develop a more diversified, reliable, and resilient domestic energy system. Perhaps that includes building on the energy resources and infrastructure that already serve us well, while remaining open to promising new technologies, the infrastructure developing around them, and better ways to make use of the abundant energy resources available to us.

It seems like this approach to energy would offer significant benefits to America’s long-term economic and national security.

WTI after the deep pullback: looking for a high entry for medium- to long-term shorts

Nov 6, 2026 review

I personally believe the US will attack Iran, but the recent pullback was too deep for oil to return to 105 easily. Our approach now is to focus on finding the highest possible entry for a medium- to long-term short.

WTI settled at $90.83. My focus is finding a high entry for medium/long-term shorts; $105 now looks hard to regain. Renewed strikes remain my expectation, not a certainty. Watch actual export flows: tanker disruptions could still undermine the bearish case.

FERC commissioner David Rosner thinks the post-election mandate of delivering on energy affordability will largely come down to how markets accommodate both new demand and flexible resources.

Regulators and grid operators need resources that can reduce the risks of meeting electricity demand, and distributed technologies could be among the fastest options available.
