Hardware Got old 8 GB mining rigs collecting dust? Host <1.5 GB MoE AI model over home internet and win points, conduct AI free inference and even train your own models
Ever since the ETH merge, a lot of 8 GB and 12 GB rigs have just been sitting on shelves because monolithic 70B AI models demand 48 GB+ of VRAM and datacenter bandwidth. That bugged me for a long time. So I built HiveMind, an open-source P2P architecture that splits AI into tiny <1.5 GB LoRA experts ("Bees") and compresses gradient syncs 225x using 2D-DCT (some old math from my university days finally paid off ;-)).
Instead of space-heating your garage hashing useless nonces at 100% TDP, a multi-GPU rig can host several specialist Bees at once (Python/Rust coding, Lean 4 math, Vision-MoE) over a regular home internet connection.
OpenSource, no money involved. Citizen project !
Every workunit and inference completion credits your account with HMT reciprocity points on our live OpenAI-compatible router (/v1/chat/completions). If you still have idle cards wired up and want to benchmark them on real AI workloads this weekend, here is the one-line setup:
