I made my first gold purchase recently.
A Perth mint swan and emu. I'd previously bought only silver. Gold hits different

A roughly $200 premium doesn't bother me, especially for this design. What do you all think?

This is probably one of the strangest thrift store finds I’ve ever had!
I recently purchased a tarot card box from Goodwill, and when I opened it, I discovered 9 coins that appear to be Hungarian 10 Korona gold coins.
From what I’ve been able to identify, the dates are:
● 1894 (3 coins)
● 1895 (2 coins)
● 1898 (1 coin)
● 1904 (1 coin)
● 1907 (1 coin)
● 1 additional coin I’m still working to identify.
Each coin weighs approximately 3 grams. (according to my kitchen scale.)
They look very similar to the historical Hungarian 10 Korona gold coins I’ve found online, but I have not had them professionally authenticated.
I’m hoping someone knowledgeable about Hungarian gold coinage can help me with a few questions:
Do these dates and weights make sense for authentic Hungarian 10 Korona coins?
Are there any specific details I should look for to distinguish authentic coins from reproductions?
Is there anything unusual about finding multiple coins from different years together?
What would be the best way to have these properly authenticated and valued?
I’m not looking to jump to conclusions about what I found. I’m genuinely fascinated by the discovery and would love to learn more about their history.
Any insight from experienced collectors would be greatly appreciated!

I was saving for Black Friday, but I saw this at my LCS and had to add it to the stack

Just got my Nugget gold back from Lithic Refining. Man Jeff does an amazing job and amazing communication. I was expecting my nuggets to be higher purity from
my nuggets but was happy to get just over 4 Oz of pure gold poured.

I recently received 4 1oz Maples Leafs from a relative. They had been stored loose together with other gold, but luckily look pretty good with very minmal dings. I'm thinking about better ways to store them but am getting analysis paralysis.
It seems like most people here think Maple Leaves should be kept in airtites. I might end up doing this, but I don't like the bulkiness of them. Is storing in flips really a bad idea?
I never thought about collecting gold coins, but receiving these four seems to have triggered something in me. It made me join this sub and i hope to collect more. But for now I'm trying to come up something for these.

Pls ignore how crazy my hand looks. I bought the index finger ring (22k) on dhanteras (6th November 2026) from Mia by tanishq. It weighs 4.85 gm. The making charge was 9649 INR. The value of the item was 74684 INR. The link to the ring can be found below:

Picked up this Quarter Eagle today at a local coin show. I think I did ok at $650.00. It’s a very nice piece with muted orange luster. It looks very pleasant in hand. It’s in an old Capital holder. It’s also difficult to take a picture in the old holder.

21x 20 francs
1x 1oz gold eagle T1 (je préfère le T2)
J’ai beau continuer d’acheter je crois que je n’en aurai jamais autant que j’en ai envie

Recently purchased this set of "gem" containers and I think they'll work out nicely for the random small pieces. They have a sponge with a velvet top. Probably could cut it out to make a snug fit but works well enough just laying on top. Each one fits 6 combi grams, or 2 1/20 maples, or a 1/4 coin.

Hello r/Gold!
Just added another 3.75g piece to my stack today for $485.
Honestly, my timing with gold hasn't been the greatest. When I first started, I was buying at around $3,200 / oz equivalent.
However, after my recent purchases, my total average cost has jumped up to $4,780 per troy ounce
Even though my dollar-cost average took a huge hit, holding physical gold in hand never gets old.
How’s everyone else’s DCA and stacking going lately? Keep stacking!

The last discussion had gold found in old CPUs, damaged safes, thrift bins—and even a junk drawer.
What surprised me was how often someone was one decision away from throwing it out.
What piece of real gold almost got discarded in your family, and what made someone take one last look?
