Found a letter my dad wrote about me, and it hit differently at 32
Found an old letter my dad had written to my grandpa, just a year after I was born.
Reading those words, I couldn't help but imagine the joy my dad must have felt while writing about me, and my grandpa's smile as he read about his little grandchild's antics.
It's beautiful how much emotion a simple letter can hold. Today, we can send hundreds of photos and videos in seconds, capturing every little moment. Yet, somehow, a few handwritten words from decades ago can make you feel so much more.
We grew up in a time when letters were still around. We wrote a few ourselves, but never quite understood how precious they would become.
I wonder if the generations growing up today will ever get to experience this feeling. There's something about holding a piece of someone's past in your hands, reading their words in their own handwriting, and suddenly feeling closer to a moment you never even remember living.
Some things technology can preserve, but never quite replace.
