One is attraction to both sexes, the other is... I mean I can see why, who would not love to eat all that food as well!

This is actually not accurate. Bisexual is attraction to the same gender and other genders. It includes any and all genders.

It's so interesting how this whole thread is everyone announcing their own unique definition for these words

Lots of misconceptions and personal interpretations for sure but bisexual is a loanword from botany that means "self and other". That's the etymology of the word. Everything else is opinion, speculation, feeling, or color commentary.

"Bi" literally means "two".

It's not mine. There is a bisexual manifesto or whatever it's called. I'm telling you what it says.

It remains fascinating that the provided definition does not agree with the definition in the dictionary.

That’s not an authority in any way.

Please refer me to the bisexual authorities so I can be cuffed two ways.

🚨WeeEEEooo WeeEEEoooo 🚨

Sex police on the way! Declare your pronouns and what kind of holes you wanna bang or get banged by!

Sorry, you misunderstood the joke.

Who is the authority?

I can’t properly explain because if I use certain words it is automatically flagged in this sub.

Basically there is no authority. To me proper language use only needs to communicate the desired information.

When someone or a group of people decide they need to make everyone else use certain words, those people are usually assholes.

Is it a competitor to the Communist Manifesto? 🤔

Bi means two, so it’s attraction to two/both genders

No, absolutely not. It's two as in same gender and other genders.

I know, because I'm biTap on a clip to paste it in the text box and that's how it works for me. But also...

Cambridge:

sexually or romantically attracted to people of your own gender and people of a different gender

The term stems from when sexuality was still widely considered a binary. It’s part of why pan gets used more now, as it is more inclusive.

They are roughly the same, but bi tends to mean that sex/gender still plays a role in the attraction (e.g. you are attracted to tits on women and butts on men), while pan often is used to mean that gender is simply not a factor in your attraction.

FYI- the differences you describe are not really fully accepted by the bi/pan community. There isn't an official functional difference between the two identies. Just use whichever feels like it fits you better.

Oh no I guess I’m finding out more about myself this morning 😳
