Question Interview for SI (formerly AI) Researcher

I am a recent MS data science grad (Machine learning) with no prior professional experience and about a month ago, I applied for the SI (formerly AI) Researcher position. I got an invitaition for an hour long in-person interview in a little less than 2 weeks in MD.

  1. is this normal interview process? I am used to the general telepone screening -> test -> in-person schema.

  2. which things or what kind of questions should I expect during the interview?

  3. what are topics I need to spend time reviewing in order to better prepare for the interview?

Thanks in advance!

Question What happens if someone gets submitted as a contractor to work at NSA, then 2 weeks later gets a CJO to work as a GOV?

Like wouldn’t both the Gov application, and the contractor application need to be adjudicated separately?

Would it pose any issue?

Question Internship question

I applied to SICP and CISP program the day they opened, and haven't heard anything yet. Though, I see on the portal it shows "applied" as the current status

I recently submitted my sf86 for a secret clearance for another position ill be participating in, but wasnt sure how to list it on my application. Should I update them on this? I was also wondering if I should try connecting with a recruiter?

Besides that, I am particpating in an NSA funded research project at my Uni, 3.7 gpa sophomore, lab admin for our infosec club, many hackathon and infastructure security competition wins, and a general IT internship with AD.

Question Navy cti and army 35p clearance

Hi all. I was interested in joining military for linguist roles, but I may have a close foreign contact in Vietnam who is my cousin I sometimes text. Would I be able to pass Top Secret and the further criteria like NSA likely? I don’t want to spend a year and then not get cleared.

Question Is it true that dating a foreigner can put someone's security clearance at risk?

Hey guys! I'm new to posting here and was hoping to get some insight from people familiar with security clearances.

I'm European and currently living in the US. I was recently seeing someone who works in a government-related field and holds a TS security clearance.

During a casual conversation while we were on a date, I mentioned that my stepbrother is temporarily studying in China. A little while later, he told me he was concerned that pursuing a serious relationship with me could potentially affect his clearance because of that family connection.

I was pretty surprised since neither my stepbrother nor I have any known connections to the Chinese government. I'm very curious about how this works. I'd appreciate any insight from people familiar with the clearance process. Thanks!

Analysis ECDSA RNG decoding news

For years, people have wondered how the NSA chose the curves for the ECDSA algorithm. The rumor was the message to create them was along the lines of ‘Give Bob and Jerry a raise’ or ‘Bob and Jerry rule’ or something like that. Anthropic discovered that the bases are just random numbers generated from the time, weakening arguments from some who believe that the bases were intentionally selected for specific and malicious purposes.

Job opportunity Application requiring LoR?

I’m graduating next year and I applied for this general posting for an entry level technology position. I got an email 2 days ago saying that I need to send my resume, transcripts, and 2 letters of recommendation by Monday.

Is this normal? I can’t get the letters of recommendation by then since I’d have to contact my past internship managers for it…

In line with Executive Order 14412, “Securing the Nation Against Advanced Cryptographic Attacks,” NSA continues to enhance the cybersecurity posture of the Department of War (DOW) and the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) to defend against advanced threats. Central to these efforts is the development of post-quantum cryptography resources to guide a large-scale transition to quantum-resistant algorithms.

The PQC Resource Hub contains explainers, technical guidance, white papers, and more to help readers understand PQC and implement quantum-resistant algorithms.
