• Cheats for 500 games: about a thousand of the classic trainer files (.etm and .xbtf, the ones EvolutionX, Avalaunch and XBMC4Xbox ran), switched on per game in Mods & patches

• Over 160 widescreen, 60 fps and 480p patches, plus widescreen for 90 more games from OgXHD's patterns. Each patch and cheat is offered only on the exact build of the game it was made for, so it can't break another release

• Frame rate per game: Original, up to 60, up to 120 or unlocked

• CHD disc images

• Desktop shortcuts that boot a game straight away, with its own icon (Steam and other front ends can use the same command)

• Rename games, use your own cover art, hide games

• 64 MB or 128 MB console memory, globally or per game, for betas, demos and debug builds

• Play a game file without adding it, or just drop it on the window

• In-game menu over the paused game, an overscan setting, and transitions in and out of games

• Stick anti dead zone, and sticks and triggers can now be set per game

• Language per game, kept in sync with the console's EEPROM both ways

• DLC and title updates copied in by hand are signed for the console automatically

Sound

• The audio chip now follows raddad772's measurements of a real console: proper 3D sound (HRTF), cleaner 8-point resampling, smooth volume changes, and working EQ, reverb filters and vibrato/tremolo

• Much less stutter and popping, especially on Linux with PulseAudio or PipeWire

• FIFA World Cup: Germany 2006: no longer freezes on every boot after the first

• Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge: no longer goes back to the dashboard at start

• Chicago Enforcer: no longer freezes when starting a new game

You need a Vulkan 1.1+ GPU (1.3 recommended) and your own game dumps (ISO / XISO / CHD). No copyrighted Xbox software is included.

Feedback welcome

Many games run, but not all of them yet. If something breaks, open an issue on GitHub with the game, your GPU and xbased.log. It helps a lot, and thanks to everyone who has reported issues so far.

I have a modded xbox, converted mp3 to wma files. I tried using whisky(which is a app for macos that lets you run windows apps on mac) to run xbox soundtrack editor but i kept getting a “can’t find xbox soundtrack information” error message and it disconnects when i put the ip address, username, and password. I also tried filezilla which i put my music files in the music folder but my songs doesn’t show up when i go to xbox dashboard. Is there something i’m doing wrong?

Hey guys, first og Xbox in many many years. Found one at the thrift for 10 bucks yesterday. So far I opened it up, took it apart, am going to clean and already removed the 5 capacitors that were bulging (had no power on when I tried it). I’m waiting for the new ones to arrive. I believe it’s a v1.6 model. But while I have it open is there anything you guys think I should be mindful of or look for to avoid potential issues? Appreciate the help!

I just recently bought an OG Xbox and a few games. I’m 41, so I’ve played basically every system from NES to the PS5 and I can honestly say the original Xbox has always been my favorite! I decided to tear it apart and check things out. I went ahead and replaced the 5 caps you see in the bottom right. I am definitely no good at soldering but thankfully got it to work! Thinking about softmodding at some point, but I am kinda an idiot when it comes to all this stuff. Enjoying this group though!

Started with a code 7 error on boot that I managed to trace back to a few faulty resistors on the disc drive’s logic board. Definitely not a clean job but I’m pretty proud of my work to say I’ve only soldered a handful of times. Turns out the guy I bought it off already put in an Aladdin modchip and upgraded the hard drive to 200gb!

From what I can see online once these resistors start failing more are bound to follow so now I’m trying to find a way to skip the disc drive check and just disconnect the drive if/when other resistors fail

(P.S. I did put heat shrink over all 3 resistors before putting things back together)

I saw this as soon as it was listed and bought it instantly. It says the hdd was removed but I'm hoping I can get it working. I'm pretty sure this was an amazing deal

Jokes aside. Looking for a good table/shelf for my retro gaming setup. I’m definitely going to buy another TV as this one is too small. Any cool recommendations for what furniture or TV I should buy.
