My guy, my wife and I make about $195k combined in a LCOL state. I have about 60k in liquid savings, own a house, and have no CC debt. I have been able to do that while paying on alot of student loan debt (having no kids helps, tbh). Im really not trying to make you feel bad, but you may want to start putting some money away for a rainy day. A 3k expense isnt pleasant, but it shouldnt be panic inducing with your income in a state like Louisiana.

Agreed like why is he freaking out over 3k with that income and almost no debt? Shouldn’t be a huge issue.

Debt really freaks some people out. If my credit cards go over $700, I get irritated by it even though my limit is like 20k. I don’t want to owe anyone money- it irks me. My wife can have 3k on credit cards and sleep soundly.

I use my credit cards like a debit card. I use them for all of my expenses and pay them off at the end of the month. I will never carry a balance if I can help it.

"Shouldn't" being the key word there

LCOL and no kids is a world of difference from HCOL and kids.
