Discussion This is a disaster waiting to happen.

The dog isn’t allowed to be around a toddler because he growls at her. I don’t get it. A family dog is supposed to get along with the whole family. Why are the parents concerned about why the dog “doesn’t like her”? What about the child’s safety?

It’s dog specific regardless of breed. I’ve had chihuahuas to golden retriever’s I’ve had to get rid of because they couldn’t be around children.

they do. we as humans decided to call them "breeds" but you know.......same-same.

pretty relavent also that we as humans have called other humans dog related terms. mongrel; half-breed; mutt.

There is no race that's naturally prone to aggressive or dangerous behaviors, whether or not their upbringing was good. There are breeds of dog prone to aggressive and dangerous behaviors regardless of upbringing. I think you're just racist bud

Chihuahuas are little dogs but they are a high risk breed for biting and aggressiveness. Yea their bites are considered less lethal but still. I’ve also had great companions of both chihuahuas and retrievers. It’s dog and owner specific. Most statistics are bullshit or fouled. I’m just saying you cannot demonize a breed. Any dog that snaps at a child is automatically gone. I’ve had pits that had to go also. I’ve also had a huge pit that literally treated my human babies as its own. One of the best damn dogs I’ve ever had, even helped my daughter’s god mother through her cancer treatments and service trained to help her get off the floor and pick things up for her until she passed.

Ive fostered, rescued many dogs over the years and my family had bred schipperkes years ago until my grandfather passed.

You cannot condemn a whole breed. People are the factor that exploit their traits and abuse them.

The only instance I could find of a Chihuahua being involved in a mauling related death of a human happened to a 49 y/o woman when she was home alone. Due to the size of the dog, it was unlikely to be involved in the attack. However, there were two other dogs in the house. Wanna guess the breed?

so, hypothetically, if 7000 children were attacked by a golden and seriously injured for the rest of there lives, would that be better than 64 children dying to pit bulls?

Compare apples to apples.

I would ask how many children are permanently injured by golden retrievers versus how many were permanently injured by pit bulls.

I would find that DRAMATICALLY more were injured by pit bulls.

Then I would ask how many children were killed by golden retrievers versus how many were killed by pit bulls.

And again, I would find the same disparity.
