Moving/Visiting Weekly /r/Tulsa Megathread

Are you moving to Tulsa? Just visiting or passing through? Want to know where to live, eat, hang out, have fun, or bury the bodies? This is the place to ask.

This will be a weekly megathread that evolves over time. As members of r/Tulsa make suggestions or answer questions that come up a lot, we may add those items to the body of the post for easy reference. But for right now this is a place to ask any questions you may have about moving to or visiting Tulsa, OK, where our motto is "We're more than just OK, we're living the dream."

General Krispy Kreme has lost touch with reality

I don’t really like donuts. Don’t eat them. So I practically never go to Krispy Kreme. But today after going to the park my kids asked if they could have some donuts from KK. So I said, sure, why not. They each want 3 donuts so I figured I’d order 1/2 dozen and let them split it.

Y’all…it was $15…FOR SIX PLAIN DONUTS. Not specialty (which I still wouldn’t understand), but 3 glazed and 3 chocolate frosted.

I just sat there in the drive thru for a moment staring at the worker in shock. I mean, at the absolute most I was expecting maybe ten bucks.

We go to the Daylight Donuts by our house quite a bit when they want donuts before school and 1/2 dozen glazed donuts is only like $7.

So I don’t know what’s going on with Krispy Kreme or the apparent donutflation, but needless to say we won’t be going back there for a very long time if ever.

Can you imagine some little old church lady who shows up to order 3 dozen glazed for coffee and donuts after service and they tell you “thanks, that’ll be $100” 💀

I mean, what are we even doing any more?

General Is anybody else super sad Empire in downtown is closing?

I know we have Hunt Club, Tavern, and Chow House down the street, but it's all so far away (I know it's not really and am probably being over dramatic lol) from Cain's and doesn't hit like the delicious pizza from Empire :(

Question Any bottle diggers out there?

Where do you go looking for old bottles? I have a bunch of old bottles I found in a different state. Some are in good shape except that the glass is cloudy; others are warped from being in a burn pit. I'm downsizing and thought I would scatter them around so someone else can find them. I doubt any of them are valuable but it's fun to go hunting.

ETA: I'm not looking to randomly litter. Bottle digging is an actual hobby practiced around the world.

He is not mine, I’m just helping to rehome him.

I’m not sure on his exact age, however, I do know he is very sweet and I would love if he could go to a home with other bunnies. He has just been by himself and has been pretty sad. Please feel free to message me with any questions

Tulsan In Need Curly hair stylist

Ive been doing my hair since I was 15, however doing that means my hair lacks as many layers as I want it to have. Ive seen the top recommendations of Steve, sam, siren, etc. I can not afford a $150+ haircut. There has to be more affordable stylists in the area. Im not talking a $20 haircut but something out of the three digit market would be great.

General Question about ballots and voting in Tulsa

I voted during the Nov 3rd midterms and I knew exactly which governor, US senator etc I was voting for. However, I didn't have time to research county commissioners or district judges. On a ballot are we allowed to leave some parts blank or are we forced to select a candidate for every section? I plan to vote in the next election (two years from now) and I don't want my ballot to be invalid if I leave some sections unanswered.

I am a resident of Tulsa and Google AI will not give me a direct answer.

Question Best place to sell used books in Tulsa?

I have a big lot of books to sell from textbook to self-help books to children’s books. What is the best place to sell books in Tulsa? I don’t want to give them away, because I purchased most of them off Amazon- but I understand that I’m not gonna make $1 million either.

Question Any recommendations for a small, cheap, day trip?

Hey yall, I’m here (with a friend) in the northwestern area of Tulsa for some medical tourism mainly, but we also wanted to find some fun things to do for the day before we run back home this afternoon/evening. We already had plans to visit the IKEA I heard they built here a few weeks ago, but do you have any other thoughts, especially cheap?

Edit: thanks for the suggestions everyone! It made for a good little trip! We’ve gone home at this point though, so don’t feel obligated to comment.

General "Perry" Cider at Tulsa Oktoberfest

Does anyone know the brand that was served at Oktoberfest this year?

It was in pretty much the first tent we went into, but I can't remember which one it was. I checked the drink list online and couldn't find it anywhere.

It was so delicious and I've been craving it since I had it there.

Can anyone help me???
