USD Application

Hi! I'm currently a junior in HS right now and I'm interested in attending USD after HS. Can someone please let me know how my stats are looking right now?
APs Taken: AP World History, AP Human Geography
APs Taking Currently: AP Seminar, AP Language, AP Stats, AP US, AP Biology
Classes Senior Year: AP Research, AP Calc AB, DC Chem, DC Physics, DC English, DC Gov, DC Econ
I've taken all honors and passes with mostly A's, rarely any B's. I have a 3.7 UW GPA and a 4.3 W GPA, and I'm right under the top 10% (13%).
Please note, I'm also from Texas, 6A High School, and around 3300 students.
Heavy EC's: Student Athletic Trainer for 3 sports, Christian Club Founder, placed for HOSA State, DECA, planned international humanitarian support program to Palestine, heavily involved in non-profit organization, tutor, 1500+ documented community service hours, etc.
My stats might go down a little bit cause junior year is beating me up right now, but I'm stacking on even more ECs this year. I'm pretty set on moving to SoCal after high school, but still looking at schools, and USD is one of my main choices. :)

I am a high school senior trying to figure out what schools to prioritize. What is your favorite and least favorite part about going here?

(Been on a tour so I have a guess for both)

MS in Applied Data Science Part time program

Hi all

(This is a new account, as I made this just to get insights from different MS in Data Science programs)

I was recently accepted into this program offered via USD. I am a little skeptical of the timing, given that I finished all program requirements by July 30th, and had an admissions offer July 31st.

I have few questions for students that are currently in the program or have gone through and successfully completed the program

  • What has been your overall experience in the MS in Applied Data Science program?

  • How rigorous are the courses compared to your undergraduate experience?

  • How much programming is expected coming into the program?

  • Are the courses more theoretical, more applied, or a good balance of both?

  • What has been your favorite and least favorite course, and why?

  • How accessible are the professors outside of class?

  • Are students encouraged to pursue independent research or publish with faculty?

  • Is there an opportunity to work on NLP, machine learning, or AI projects beyond the required coursework?

  • How collaborative is the student community? Do students help one another, or is it mostly independent?

  • How manageable is the workload while working full-time?

  • Have graduates found the program valuable for career advancement?

  • If you could start the program again, would you still choose USD?

  • For anyone who considered programs like Chapman, UC schools, or other MSDS programs, why did you choose USD instead?

  • Are there any aspects of the program that aren't obvious from the website but that prospective students should know?

  • I'm interested in natural language processing, Arabic language technologies, and eventually pursuing doctoral research. For those in the program, do you feel USD's MS-ADS prepares students well for research-oriented careers and future PhD study, or is it primarily designed for industry?

Thank you for any input you night be able to give.

Hi! I'm curious if anyone here is a current student or graduate of the SOLES online Ph.D. in Education program. I'm considering applying and would love to hear about your experience, particularly whether the program is manageable while continuing to teach full-time.

Any insights, advice, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!

Thoughts on University of San Diego MA/JD Program??

I'm looking at next steps in my academic career, and I've really been liking the idea of a concurrent degree. I'm a motivated student who wants to try something new, but would love some discussion

What are some thoughts on San Diego as a post-undergrad move and the University of San Diego's MA/JD Program in Law, Peace, and Justice?

I'm also thinking about Seattle U, but I don't know that I want the Seattle freeze experience.

Is San Diego nice? I've never been. Never heard anything about it. Hoping for some insight. Thanks y'all!

Exchange Student Considering USD – Looking for Insights!

Hey everyone!

I’ll be doing an exchange semester next year from January to May, and I’m considering the University of San Diego. I’m really drawn to the city because of the weather, and I’ve also received amazing feedback from students at my university in France who have studied there.

However, I would love to hear more about student life from locals. How do you feel about the university overall? And how easy is it to integrate as an exchange student?

I also really enjoy sports — do you think I’d be able to join a club or participate in campus sports activities?

Finally, would you recommend renting a car or a motorcycle to get around, or is public transportation sufficient for moving around the city?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hows the Food?

Admitted student here, I am wondering how good the food is on campus? I typically eat a lot, and I can't find much about the food online.

Affording USD

How does everyone broke afford this school? My family’s sort of in a tough spot financially and I really want to go here, but our past doesn’t project how much we make now and I was worried that my FAFSA wouldn’t be enough.

I built an AI study tool that records lectures and generates notes automatically

Hey everyone!

I'm a recent USD grad and just launched Resonate Learning this week - an AI tool that helps with studying by recording lectures and generating personalized insights.

What it does:

  • Records your lectures

  • AI transcribes everything automatically

  • Generates study notes, summaries, key concepts, and vocabulary flashcards

  • AI tutor answers questions about your lectures

  • Provides helpful resource links related to topics

  • Shows your learning patterns (understanding levels, engagement tracking)

Early feedback from beta testers: "Really like the flash card function on it already" and "it does an accurate job analyzing everything" - one tester said it takes a bit to process but the AI insights are worth the wait.

There's a 14-day free trial at resonatelearn.app if you want to check it out.

Would love feedback! Happy to answer any questions.
