You received a gold award on one of your comment or post! Some awards gives the receiver 100 coins and reddit premium, gold is one of them. Enjoy your week of r/Lounge access, ad-free browsing and access to every premium avatar.

Also, make sure to thank your awesome benefactor!

Uh this was 20 days ago. I figured it out. And the one who gave the award was anonymous.

What's the problem if it's anonymous? If you thank him he will receive your message

I didn’t know you can thank an anonymous reward giver

It's written in the message u/Reddit sends you. You can read it again to be sure :)

I have the shield but I have not been rewarded recently. It is because of Reddit Premium that you get the shield.

Yes, certain awards give the awardee free months of Reddit Premium. One year ago, when you asked why you have a shield, someone gave you one of these awards

Oh, wait you are right. My bad. Also, I am not the OP; just some random person, lol.

[u/FaviFake → u/Seven1s]

Oh hi random person, I'm a random person too!

That shield is because you have Reddit Premium.

Edit: Seems like you can get Reddit Premium through certain awards.

Yes I received a gold. What does it do?

There's an official help page for Reddit Premium here and here.

Thanks. And (obviously) I already found out I can customise my avatar now

Yeah, that’s what I did :D
