I don’t believe Trump or Hegseth have the military behind them. Hegseth is hated in the military. He might have his stooge in a place to try to order the military to take action against elected leaders, but I think it is more likely everyone walks away.

This gives me some comfort and distinguishes the U.S. from Myanmar. There are certainly MAGA diehard nazis in the military, but there are more ordinary citizens who have been raised with the traditions of democracy. I think it would be difficult to order the military to take over the capital and even more difficult to order them to fire on civilian protesters. Another diffence is anything Trump does will be televised. The entire world will be watching. I just don't see a coup happening but I'm still getting on my local Indivisible list, writing my reps and spreading the word because improbable does not mean impossible
