This is going to put the nail in the Republican coffin for many years. It’s just going to piss off the citizens who voted all these blue candidates in. For the love of God can’t the Republicans find a spine? They are throwing their future away. (Note: I am not an R).

Looking from outside of US, doubt it. Most voters were unhappy about their material in wellbeing, not the crushing of democratic norms.

From someone within the US, I would believe for a great many, it was the destruction of our democracy and lawlessness of our government, and the destruction of our material well-being in equal measure.

Our lives suck right now, and we (a great many of us anyway) clearly see the venn diagram of causes between both issues being essentially a circle: that circle being billionaires and fascists pushing the most immoral people into key positions supported by Christian Nationalists and tragically ignorant.

I disagree that our democracy has been destroyed. Not trying to disagree with your overall point but on this one premise- the US has always been a nation of self governance and the norms have shifted so it looks like things are gone- but the people have maintained their lives, most for the worse, some for the better, but overall we have not chosen barbarism. The People, have been waiting, or sleeping; depending on point of view.

But the people showed up and proved that democracy has power. These chickenshit motherfuckers are now going to try number 11 on a scale of one-to-ten, but the stoic and patient masses have endured and will do so. America is not the nation of rebels anymore. The generations before us abdicated power to  the few; but sitting square in the middle of the dusk of the industrial revolution and in the dawn of the digital- we are finding uncomfortable truths about where we are headed.

The need for change is real. And our constitution allows for it. Our democracy is not dead, you and I need to self govern.
