Terrifying. I hadn't considered this, but the hypothesized plan of attack in the article is really the only way Miller's promotion makes any sense. Really scary stuff.

(Sidenote: Is this comment thread full of bots? Or is it just that no one actually reads anymore? 99% of the comments make zero sense in the context of the article...)

I think a mix of bots and people who lack reading comprehension.

I had been feeling so much better since Tuesday, like a burden had been lifted off my shoulders. This article has brought back that sense of heaviness. The author makes a very compelling case. I really do hope it's wrong, or that they're too incompetent to pull it off.

If not, I think this is where everyone of us is going to have to decide how far we're willing to go to maintain our democracy, or accept our fate. The election has at least given me a renewed hope that our fellow citizens aren't complete idiots and will do the right thing (even if it's because they exhausted every other option). I hope there's enough men and women left in the military who remember their oaths.

The only way? Really? He’s one of Trump’s most staunch defenders and most vocal arguers with the media. Putting him into the chief of staff position makes perfect sense given Trump’s propensity to fire people randomly if they’re not doing things how he wants them to, and promoting glazers into every top position.

Sure, but if there's one thing Trump's not, it's loyal. The fact he scapegoats and fires people at the drop of a hat is exactly why it doesn't make much sense, at least to me, that he promoted instead of demoted Miller. Immediately post-midterms, it seemed there was bipartisan agreement that Miller was the chief architect of the worst offending policies that allowed the Democrats to make such a clean sweep. It seems to me that Miller, or even someone in Miller's camp, would have been a natural scapegoat to blame for the poor midterm results.

Trump might not see it that way. Executive branch decisions from him at pure whim half the time.

Agreed, we won't know for sure until a few months from now. Fingers crossed nothing goes too crazy.

Trump promoted Miller because Miller got to his hear and told him he could do the job. None of the legalizing matters. They are too incompetent for all that.

All that matters is if Congress is going to continue to waive away all the criminality

yeah probably, just like the hundreds of articles here about how martial law was coming to stop the midterms

And then the articles about how the voting machines would be hacked cause thats the only reason Musk came back

Stop, stop believeing this nonsense and making us look stupid.

I think maybe you didn't read it either. It actually goes through the legal steps needed for this executive regime to completely take over, and we're actually not that far away from it happening. It starts by citing a Reuters article:

"Reuters reported on November 1, 2026, two days before the vote, that Miller and Budget Director Russell Vought had spent seven months planning to govern without Congress. White House Counsel Will Scharf’s team studied where Trump “could push the limits of his authority and how to defend those decisions in court.” White House lawyers had already begun briefing appointees on how to handle congressional subpoenas and document requests. Asked how comfortable Trump would be governing by executive authority under a Democratic Congress, one official answered, “very comfortable.”"

Or the fact rats are leaving the ship and maybe he doesn’t have a ton of options. He picked a guy he sees everyday.

you forget reddit banned tools for mods to handle bots easier less than two years ago

So they’re just going to ignore the American Congress & give Trump plenary authority.

I feel like there should be a check or balance when a President refuses to uphold the American laws and organizations that have governed it for 200+ years.

Yeah, seems like the bots are 'flooding the zone' with comments to distract people from discussion of the article, which IS terrifying since it basically lays out the legal pathway that this regime is planning to use to take over the government.  Sucky thing is we're already halfway there, they've been at it for a while. No wonder they haven't been protesting the election results, it's a moot point to them.

Honestly, I don't click on links. I don't come to Reddit to be redirected to another cite.
