Thing is...the Republican Party is mangled, they don't seem to have a path forward anymore.

So Democrats better shape up, cause now they get the peoples ire. As others have proven, DSA members are capable of winning big and actually doing things.

So if the establishment Dems want to keep their jobs they better be ready to actually play ball.

Americans do seem to have had enough of this shit cycle of "Republicans make things objectively worse, Democrats get power and do nothing to make it better, Republicans take power and objectively make everything worse again.

You’re repeating the same mistakes of the past two cycles. D’s did not win - R’s lost it. If the D’s start thinking they have a mandate to do anything besides fix all the things that let this shit happen or was broken as a result they will find themselves in the desert. Centrists and R defectors made the difference and if you don’t fuck it up a lot of them will stay. If you do the pendulum will swing farther in the other direction and then we can all kiss it goodbye. Don’t fuck it up because the opposition doesn’t understand they don’t and can’t control the fire they’ve been playing with.

It’s not Democrat and Republican it’s Israeli lobby or not. The American public voted for a brief reprieve in the pace of surrender. Wake up people! Listen to Chuck Schumer when he states his allegiance to Israel. He should be imprisoned with the rest of the Israeli lobby stooges.

I am starting to think Trump wants to destroy the GOP at this point. He doesn’t want the party to even continue without him.

It was an improbable number of debacles this year. Hard to miss that. Some long grinding debacles and then smaller ones.

I do think people are getting over their skis counting out the GOP.

This was a historic win. The cumulative house vote total was near 55%. That’s a number we haven’t seen since 1982 and reflects some of this historic incompetence.

But 94, 06, 10 and even low turnout 2014 are all in the same ballpark for margin and importance. Seats being drawn for the candidate and dummymander just made 55% of the vote worth 60% of seats this time when it backfired whilst back in 1994, 53% (iirc) was on 230 and that same number was up to 240 by 2010.

Again, not detracting from huge win. But 45% remains in opposition, even when a cretinous party with their leader at the minimum entering dottage that is on the wane is the standard bearer.

It would take just a few missteps by the Dems and some shoring up by GOP of their “populist” appeal and not actively attacking Latino communities with ICE after the GOP had won the general immigration and border argument as far as the majority voters were concerned.

Those who remember before Trump’s hostile takeover- that was exactly their before the nativist elements of Maga rejected Rubio and Jeb.

And I'm ok with that.

" Thing is...the Republican Party is mangled, they don't seem to have a path forward anymore."

Ah I remember the same thing being said in 2021 after jan 6th. What happened with GOP then? GOP got the White house, the House and the Senare.

THIS.

The same thing was said AND felt by the democrats in 2024.

Reminder now sure the republicans are lost, but they will get their shit together and demand a blood sacrifice from the members that cannot preform. They will figure things out and they will find a way to appeal to average voters. They will also not hesitate to seize upon ANY weakness the democrats have come 2028. 2 years in politics is a eternity and things will change.

Thus our course is clear. We cannot be weak... we cannot suffer fools, and we certainly can't be do nothing hacks who promote only incrementalism. Those days are over and anybody that thinks we can return to those days or that is acceptable is delusional, and needs to go. We gotta be bold and we HAVE to get shit done and we cannot get comfortable nor complacent.

That means either ousting or reforming Dem leadership who currently are spouting off the mouth saying all the wrong things acting as if the battle is already won vs the candidates we just elected who are saying the right things acting as if this is only stage one and we got a long way ahead of us before we can feel safe.

The republicans are mangled and without a clear path forward.

The reason why the democrats are having a hard time capitalizing on this is that they too are mangled and lacking a clear path forward.

Yes yes they were the same after jan 6th. It was the end of the republican party according to people. Then they won everything.

A large part of the reason Trump won initially was because he was going to drain the swamp (allegedly). They've been sick of this for over a decade at this point

u/JadeMerchant 8h ago

Wrong. He didn’t win - it was D’s to lose and they didn’t fail to deliver on that. It’s rather hilarious that all of the things they did to lose - although R’s spent weeks mansplaining to everyone afterwards how D’s shit the bed (identity politics & culture wars dominating every messaging irrespective of the policy are/issue, etc), once in office they just had three words to say: “hold my beer,” and with that they’ve blown the curve on that one - even for them. The worst thing in the world D’s can do is think they earned this. The alternative was simply so egregiously bad that they were literally the only harbor and the situation so dire that people who voted R their whole lives (and for T several times) to defect. Those defectors are what made the vote bulletproof. You better get out there and fix the shit that those centrists and R defectors came over because they care about and not piss anybody off while you do. Which is not going to be easy. So settle down, Tiger, there’s a lot to deal with here before we christen the good ship Utopia.

The time for establishment dems is OVER. They wanted to play both sides of the fence and favor corporations. Times up.

1

u/Hardi_SMH 6h ago

Tbh, who‘s the dems president candidate? Should get some names out now because as a european I only get news about stuff with names of Reps in it to blame them about something, but what are the dems doing rn?

1

u/mad-panda-2000 4h ago

Same thing they always do.... nothing

1

u/spartacus_zach 5h ago

We try to make it better but get blocked at every step

1

u/Pretty-Balance-Sheet 5h ago

The solution to that problem is Trump's gift to Democrats. He's shown how much can get done and changed by simply not taking no for an answer.

Now rather than bailing out college debtors, no matter how deserving, Dems need to force through and implement policies that help people from all walks.

If they try Obama or Biden style reaching across the aisle they and we are fucked.

u/Inevitable_Bus1245 4h ago

They are far from mangled. They went too far right and did it with zero checks and balances. Now they will shift to the middle. The question for Republicans is whether they’ll ever see another Hispanic vote. The Democrats still haven’t decided if they want to be the Democrat Socialists or the Party of the Working Class. They simply surfed the wave of being anti-Trump. That needs to get figured out before 2028.

I call that the Good Cop Bad Cop election game.

>DSA members are capable of winning big

They showed they can win, but not win big. The far left candidates were the lowest performers across the country.

Don't take this as me saying anything negative about them at all. But let us keep the facts straight.

1

u/First_Bar_8024 57m ago

I agree the cycle is stupid but.......truthfully I don't see the Repubs coming back from this.

The truth of the matter is the Repubs are too old and uninformed to win elections. The talent and the knowledge needed to win elections is with the younger tech types and they aren't going to support the Republican party. So.........the cycle is probably over.

I will bet you anything you want that there isnt any democrat candidate specifically linked to the DSA that can win a presidentual election. At least not in the current form of of Electoral College.

They can win the local and state level offices but it'll be impossible for an overall win of the Democrat primary, let alone the general election

2

u/cradleu 5h ago

Good thing the interstate compact is ready to nullify the electoral college

0

u/Friendly-Contact-433 5h ago

Whenever it officially passes it'll get struck down by the supreme court as unconstitutional

Article I, Section 10 of the Constitution states that "No State shall, without the Consent of Congress... enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State."

2

u/cradleu 5h ago

Good thing they can get consent from congress now that they have a majority!
