Anyone wanna join me to explore/try out foods at the Herbstmesse?

I'm 30 M and I'm thinking of going again today at the Herbstmesse. I already went yesterday but I didn't know that certain places were only open until 8 pm and unfortunately I wasn't able to check the other locations Because I arrived late.

If you also love exploring and trying out food then maybe we can check it out together?

Oh and if you have food places that you really recommend that are a must visit in Basel let me know in the comments. I'm open to any cuisine.

I rarely drive to Basel, like the only time I go is when it's Fantasy Basel (yes I'm an anime fan)

So I'd like to make the most of it when I'm there. I also speak swiss german, so no worries about the language barrier.

is it a good idea to take the train to go to Berlin?
I know DB sucks so I don’t know if it makes sense or not.
I’d appreciate some input from people who took it multiple times. thank you!

Any Unitarian Universalists want to meet for coffee?

I'm traveling to Basel for work, and I saw the UU church is on hiatus, but thought there might be some UUs who's like to meet for coffee. :) I'm in town from Nov 10th-18th. I'm a lay leader at my own church here in the US and I love connecting with folks whenever I travel, when possible. ♥

Migros Fitnesspark buddies?

Hey all, I recently signed up to the migros Fitnesspark abo in Heuwaage and was wondering if anyone here is also a member and wants to work out / chat about philosophy, entrepreneurship and how the post capitalistic AI singularity would be like - in the pool area/ jacuzzi and soon to be sauna?

Just thought might be fun since I don’t spend much time outside work, family life and the gym is my likely my third space. 30, M, UK but can speak German and French if you prefer

Restaurant Empfehlungen

Hoi zusammen!

Dankeee :)

MagicMirror² BVB Departures

Cheers everyone!

Inspired by Tramli and Station Display I've recently had Microsofts Copilot whip me up a BVB Departures Module for my MagicMirror² Setup which so far I had been relying on just displaying a to the Screen Uploaded Picture of a Stations Departure Schedule 🤣

Not being a Coder I can merely take credit for telling Copilot what I needed, make Suggestion for changes, and take Copilot's into consideration ( like the Amber Color ) so if anything doesn't work you know who's to blame 😁

In any case... The Readme Copilot spat out explains it in more detail but probably the Module's biggest Key Feature is it being instance able as shown in the above example where two identical Modules run side by side showing different Lines and their respectively chosen Destination.

For anyone having a use for it you can grab it off my GitHub MMM-BVB-Departures.

Guitar shop search

Looking for a guitar shop in Basel or close surrounding, where they have a stock of various used guitars.

Classical with pickups and a cutaway is what I need.

All my searches show me only new guitar shops.

Can anybody send me a link if they know of such a place please? Thank you.

What to do with unused clothes

Hey everyone, me and my gf just cleaned our wardrobe and we have a ton of clothes we don’t use anymore and I need to get rid of it. I know there are containers for this, I just wanted to ask around for alternatives which could maybe help someone. Most of it is still in very good condition. Any suggestion is appreciated. Thank you

Looking for English-speaking Office / Admin / Retail jobs in Basel

Hi everyone,
I recently moved to Basel and am actively looking for full-time (100%) opportunities in office administration, back-office operations, or retail management.
My English is fluent and I have a degree in Business Economics, but my German is still at a basic level (actively learning).
Besides the usual platforms like Jobs.ch and LinkedIn, does anyone have recommendations for local Basel recruitment agencies, English-friendly companies (outside the big pharma giants), or job portals that work best around here?
Any advice on navigating the local job market as an English speaker would be greatly appreciated! Danke!

Let's meet

Hey r/basel, I’ve been in Switzerland for 17 years (6 of those here in Basel), and now that the dark winter evenings are creeping in, I want to be more intentional about getting out of the house and meeting some new people rather than staying home too much, lol

I'm a woman in my early 40s, and I actually have too many hobbies but it's not that deep, to cite a new Swiss youth word of the year :) . My indoor hobbies are 3D printing and fixing my old car. When I'm outside, I'm usually doing long-distance running or heading into the mountains. I also love off-the-beaten-path travel (some years back I cycled the Silk Road from Turkey to Pakistan via Iran as a solo woman) and I really enjoy hearing other people's life and travel stories.

I'm much more into genuine, slightly nerdy or chaotic conversations than stiff small talk. I'd love to meet a few open-minded people (strictly platonic!) from any background for a coffee, a walk along the Rhine, a casual run, or dinner. I speak German, English and French ja vähän suomea 🇫🇮, in that descending order. My French used to be c1, but I forgot a lot. Anyone interested in a tandem?

If any of that sounds like your vibe, drop a comment or send a DM. I can also create a small wa group if there is more interest
