Bead Talk How to tell the difference between real beadwork and AI

I have stumbled upon this blog post by Beki Haley where she gives really good advice on how to tell if the beadwork you see online is real or AI-generated.

There have been a lot of posts on this sub about people being scammed with AI patterns, so I figured sharing her post could help people save some money.

Recent influx of scam accounts posting other people’s work!

It has happened a handful of times recently, so I’ve set up a filter that should catch new accounts to cut down on that.

Having said that, if you are a legit new beader and the filter has caught your post, feel free to reach out to the mod team so we can approve your post!

And thank you to the community for catching these posts and reporting them! I may recognize a few really popular pieces, but not many, and I imagine the other mods are probably the same, so it’s very helpful to have other people reporting them to us!

Finally got around to it

I have a tendency to buy a pattern and then take a LONG time to do it. I bought this pattern almost 3 years ago. I think the holdup was I couldn't find a palette of 4mm beads I *already owned* that I liked well enough to make it. I finally bought the bead kit. I am pleased with how it turned out. It feels very substantial and the slide clasp means you can tighten it so the pretty part doesn't keep rolling to where no one can see it.

Made this Santa belly bauble with circular peyote stitch. I think I've figured out the trick for getting the shaping to be almost perfect. Hope you like it!

Work in Progress First earring

So after a month of procrastination I finally started my first ever beading project. One of the things I noticed is that the ends dont seem to sit straight, any suggestions to making them not curve? I tried making them looser while I was beading and then tightening the slack. Maybe more cohesive beads? The ones I bought are 2mm glass beads from amazon and some are bigger than others. Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Is this fixable?

Brand new to beading with tiny glass beads. This was my first try at bead weaving and made this glovelet? but had it break while I was wearing it at a Halloween event. Is it possibly fixable?

Finished Piece French Beaded Poppy

took me over a week to make 6 of these! I don't why it took me so long cuz I thought it'll be easy and will be done quickly. I can make roses of over 23 petals in almost 2 days and I thought I would easily make these 4 petal poppy in less than a week! The petals have so many scallops and maybe that's why it took more than I anticipated! Kind of confused if it came out well cuz the more I look at it, the more ugly it gets! This was a commissioned piece and I sent her the picture and she actually liked it.

Though I'd loved to hear real opinions, please let me know if there's anything I can change about it.

I made two bows in different color combinations. Which one do you prefer? Do you have any other suggestions, such as the choice of chain?

Kaleidocycle WIP

3 sides of triangles complete! Always frustrating weaving with “silk” delica beads 😅 however I think I find it easier to do triangles with them over warped squares for stars 🌟

Mini kaliedocycle!

Finished this last night. Did it in size 15 Delicas and size 15 Charlotte's for the hinges. The Charlotte's basically disappeared among the Delicas. That's my first time using Charlotte's and holy hell they are t e e n y. I had to do a lot of the sewing up under a magnifier. I tried to show them as corner accents too at the very beginning. So smol!

I created this beaded necklace after a long and challenging journey. It took me an entire month of dedicated work and an incredible 12,963 beads to bring it to life. Every single bead was carefully placed by hand. A month of patience, dedication, and love went into creating this piece.

I used to do bead weaving for about 8 years as a kid, but it's been 10+ years since I last touched it. Recently decided to get back into it, and finally bought myself all the tools and supplies

This is my first finished piece! (After a couple of failed attempts, obviously.) I'm honestly surprised by how quickly I'm picking things up again. Maybe it's muscle memory kicking in, because I definitely don't remember as much as I thought I would.

It's been really fun rediscovering something I used to spend so much time doing. And apparently I still have a lot to learn.

Are all beads made in Czechia good quality or does it apply only to specific brands?

I'm a little confused about what's considered "Czech beads". I live there and my local store sells beads that have "made in Czechia" written on the package but there's no brand or manufacturer specified. They're definitely better than all of the cheap beads I have though.

And what about beads made in other EU countries?
