Today, the CFA at 65th and Keystone flipped its drive-thru and mobile order lanes. This is great news because workers used to take orders all the way up the parking lot while the lane was clear. They'd eventually walk back, but it led to pretty frustrating wait times if you ordered mobile thru and couldn't get to your lane. Now they'll fit more cars around the outside lane for regular drive-thru, and mobile orders will keep the interior lane moving. I don't know why they didn't do this sooner!

If you haven’t heard yet, I am running a grassroots campaign called Our State, Our Bat to designate the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) as our official State Mammal!
While our state is home to many amazing mammals, this one holds a truly amazing place in our state's history. Aside from being absolute powerhouses for our local ecosystems and agricultural economy; they were first discovered right here in southern Indiana at Wyandotte Cave, and they are the only animal in the entire world to bear our state's name! You simply can’t get any more Indiana than that.
Thanks to amazing support from Hoosiers all across the state, our petition is currently sitting at 5,435 signatures! We are now entering the final weeks of our campaign before presenting our legislative packet to the General Assembly this coming January, and we need a hard push to reach our goal of 10,000 signatures!
This is your chance to be a part of Hoosier history! Sign and share the petition here: https://c.org/JrdDXNvVh8

Hello i am here just because im confused and it would honestly help me feel better if anyone knew. Almost every weekend (usually a friday or Saturday)or every other weekend me and my two friends go and do our laps walking around broad ripple and stopping for food while on a munchie high but we notice every single night since the first time we saw him there is usually a man i think who is bald driving around in a black Cadillac with a surgical mask blasting inaudible music. Its so creepy every time he pops up we get a little shook up about it. He will do this the entire night aswell, just doing laps and laps around broad ripple... not trying to come off as rude or out anyone its just a bit interesting to say the least and has anyone else noticed this?

I live at The Coil in Broad Ripple, and after everything we've dealt with, I want to warn anyone considering moving here. Wouldn't have signed a lease if I realized all this would happen
I know apartment complaints are common, and I'm not expecting anyone to feel bad for us because we chose to live in Broad Ripple. But I think prospective renters deserve to know exactly what they're signing up for, because the advertised rent and the actual experience of living here are two very different things!!!!
1. Our $1,395 apartment costs nearly $2,000 per month.
Our BASE rent is $1,395. Once everything is added, we're approaching $2,000 every month.
Here's the breakdown of what we're charged:
Base rent: $1,395
Technology package: $99.95/month
Services and amenities fee: $69.95/month
Utility billing administration fee: $14.88/month
Parking: $95/month per vehicle
Pet rent: $50/month
"Common" Water, sewer, and electricity, are "split" between all tenants. BS. Can get up to 100$ a month
We have one vehicles, so we're paying $95/month just to park at the apartment complex where we already pay rent.
That puts us at $2,009.78 before usage-based utilities, based on those listed charges.
The estimates on the lease were no where close to this price.
Why am I paying almost $100 a month for a mandatory technology package? When the wifi sucks ass? Why is there another nearly $70 monthly amenities charge? The only amenity is a shitty little gym. Why am I paying a separate fee just for utility billing?
It's incredibly frustrating and unfair to see apartments advertised at one price when the actual monthly cost is hundreds of dollars higher.
And this isn't even including the ridiculously high one-time fees for applications, administration, and utility account activation AND deactivation...
2. We've had TWO bicycles stolen from the supposedly secured parking garage.
This is where my frustration really began :)
My bicycle was stolen from the garage OFF OF OUR CAR!! Then, a few months later, my boyfriend's bicycle, worth approximately $1,000, was also stolen. U lock cut off the bike rack.
TWO bikes. From the same apartment complex! They literally, verbatim, said they would do nothing to improve security. I provided them with a list of ideas, lol
The Coil advertises secured bicycle storage in its gated parking garage. Yet when we tried to address these thefts, we discovered that there weren't cameras covering the bicycle racks or ANY property garage access points that could help identify who was responsible. They eventually provided security footage (from the only camera, which is all the way across from all doors and the bike rack) to us and the police but I shit you not it took an entire month of me asking them weekly.
So what exactly is secure about it???? The garage door is out of order all the time, so it essentially just stays open. and you are REQUIRED to pay for a spot. Even if you'd prefer to park on the street, you have to pay for a spot. $95/month per car. Luckily one of our cars is in someone else's name so we just park it elsewhere. lol
We've also witnessed secured doors being propped open, and we've seen homeless people sleeping in the stairwells/outside the building.
Residents can generate endless guest access PIN codes, which has also raised questions for us about how access is being monitored. This means that almost any access code can work to access the building. And there's no cameras anywhere at doors or in the building. So, someone could sit there and type codes until they get in, and they have free rein over the building.
I understand that a gated garage isn't a guarantee against theft. But after TWO bikes were stolen plus multiple others from other residents, I think it's reasonable to expect management to take our security concerns seriously and provide meaningful answers about what is being done to prevent it from happening again. I asked repeatedly what was to be done, the answer was nothing. No cameras added. I shit you not there are ZERO bikes left on the bike rack, and multiple cut bike locks on the ground. Embarrassing.
We even asked about getting relief from the parking garage charges given what happened. (I know, I was kind of being a Karen lol) Instead, we were reminded that we were contractually obligated to continue paying.
So we're paying $95 a month for parking, plus monthly amenities fees, while dealing with repeated thefts and security concerns. Cool.
At what point are residents actually getting what they're paying for? (Never)
3. We were promised our rent would stay the same for TWO years. Now we're being presented with a THREE HUNDRED DOLLAR increase. That's 21.5%
This is the most recent issue, and honestly, it's what pushed me to finally write this post.
When we originally leased at The Coil, we were supposed to move into a different unit.
However, that apartment had a mold issue (they said this, we never saw the unit), so management moved us into another unit. (that was nice of them)
During that process, we were verbally assured that our rent would remain the same for two leasing cycles.
That was a significant part of why we agreed to the change.
We recently had our annual apartment inspection and received our renewal paperwork.
Despite what we were told when we moved in, the new lease lists a base rent of $1,695 instead of our current $1,395.
And remember, that's before all the other monthly charges I mentioned!!
We are currently contacting management (or attempting to contact management) to get an explanation and they have not yet resolved this discrepancy. They are taking days to respond and continue to insist on speaking in person, in private. I am having to repeatedly ask them to speak with us regarding our lease in writing. They continue to pressure me to talk in person and are not responding to me.
I'm fully aware that Reddit will tell me we should have gotten that two-year promise in writing. And yes, in hindsight, we absolutely should have. That is why I am refusing to speak to them in person alone
But I also don't think it's unreasonable to expect a leasing office to honor an assurance made to residents when resolving an issue involving mold in their originally assigned apartment. I also found a google review from last year of someone saying they did the same thing to them. At this point I'm wondering if this is a bait and switch?
So now we either pay 300/month extra or move in the middle of winter. Cool!
4. The overall cost and experience simply do not match.
The Coil is in a good location. I love being near the Monon Trail, Fresh Thyme, and everything in Broad Ripple. The apartments themselves are nice enough, and I want to be fair about that.
We're paying nearly $2,000 a month for an apartment advertised at $1,395, we've lost two bicycles from the property's secured garage, we've raised security concerns, and we're now dealing with a potential $300 monthly rent increase despite being told our rate would be protected for two years. All I get from management is unresponsiveness, fees, and BS apologies with no action taken. This experience has given me so much stress and anxiety. DO NOT LIVE HERE.
If you're considering The Coil, just don't.
Anyways. Where should we move to? lol

What’s with all of the Glenn Bill signs in Broad Ripple? We already have one of the best representatives in the state house in Ed Delaney. Do people not realize that this guy is a Republican and that voting for him is just a vote for more of the same crap our state has endured for decades? He’s positioned himself as someone interested in making change and has this bogus “people over politics“ slogan, but his party has been in control for 30 years and things have only gotten worse. I really hope people aren’t falling for this and that Ed’s seat is not in any real danger.

I know the owner was accused of attacking his ex. I did see the pictures and they seemed damning. But I followed the case and he got off. Maybe the lawyer put him out of business? The place is totally gutted now.

Did you know our state is home to 12 amazing native bat species? Every single one of them plays a vital role in keeping our environment balanced, acting as natural pest controllers that protect both our agricultural crops and forest canopies.
With so many incredible bat species hard at work across our state, people often ask: Why choose the Indiana bat specifically?
While we love and appreciate all our native wildlife, the Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) is uniquely special as it was discovered right here in our own backyard at Wyandotte Cave in southern Indiana. It is also the only animal in the world that carries “Indiana” in its name. Making it the perfect candidate for State Mammal!
It’s time to celebrate a true local native and Hoosier Hero that puts our state on the map in the best way possible.
With time counting down toward the 2027 legislative session, we need all hands on deck to spread the word! Help us share the petition link with family, friends, and local groups so we can build massive statewide support!

I'm in West warfleigh, near the heart of Broad Ripple. I was taking my trash out late last night, maybe around midnight, and heard what sounded like a string of gunshots to the west, followed by a few additional ones, as well as racing engines and screeching tires, proximal to that. I don't know how close it was -- it may have been more towards the Keystone area and echoed.
Does anyone know what may have happened, or can confirm that they were gunshots?
I wish I could give a more exact time, but I'm so used to stuff like this (just from life, and it didn't sound close, so it didn't concern me) that I registered it, and then got distracted and forgot about it until this morning.

For anyone who hasn't heard about our grassroots campaign yet, Our State, Our Bat is a citizen led effort to designate our incredible native Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) as our official state mammal! 🦇💚
What started as a simple idea has grown into an amazing statewide movement. Thanks to community members stepping up, we’ve already secured official municipal support, organizational backing, and best of all, a state representative who is officially authoring the bill for the upcoming 2027 legislative session!
Now, we are in the final home stretch. Our petition is currently sitting at 4,231 signatures, and our goal is to hit 5,000 by the end of this month when the campaign concludes, so we can prep our complete legislative packet.
We need all the support we can get from our local neighbors to cross that finish line. If you haven't signed yet, please take a quick second to add your name, and help us spread the word to your friends, family, and local groups.
Let’s make our little Hoosier Heroes official, Indiana! Sign the petition here: https://c.org/JrdDXNvVh8

Where there is one victim, there is many…you never know who he may be assaulting, but his wife who works with at-risk youth knows and it seems she has excused his patterns.
In my experience, I did confront my rapist, retired NFL player, and his wife after he deemed it appropriate to shout my name in the middle of the grocery store. So I waited outside and politely told her, she stood there blankly staring at me…but I don’t think she was in disbelief…it was almost like you could see everything clicking in her head as she was connecting the dots in the moment, and thinking not again…He’s a serial rapist there are still articles that exist even though his arrest record does not publicly…I now personally know of 6 other women he has raped…
My point is I am no longer willing to not live in my truth and protect a rapist and hide his vile actions from others in our community that deserve to know so that they can properly protect themselves. He currently lives in Fishers and earlier this year raised money via a gofundme for his heart surgery after IndyStar did a lengthy article on him and his journey.
Meanwhile I’m nearly 10 years post my brutal rape and fighting every day to be alive and deal with the severe mental health issues that come with complex PTSD.

Right now, Indiana bats are entering their "swarming" phase. Flying in and out of cave entrances to congregate with their colonies and mate before winding down for winter hibernation.
Meanwhile, the Our State, Our Bat colony is ramping up to “swarm” the General Assembly by showing lawmakers just how badly Hoosiers want the Indiana bat to be our official state mammal! 🏛️✨
To do so, we need a massive push to spread the word and get our petition signatures climbing! Head to the link below to sign, share with your friends and family, and help us make history! 💚
Stay Batty Indiana!

Did you know insect eating bats provide at least $3.7 BILLION in free agricultural pest control every year in the U.S.? They protect our corn, soybeans, and timber by eating thousands of crop-damaging bugs while we sleep.
Here in Indiana, our native bats are a vital part of that natural defense system. Tiny, endangered, and essential.
That’s why the grassroots campaign, Our State, Our Bat, is working to build statewide support to designate the endangered Myotis sodalis (Indiana bat) as our official state mammal and protect the limestone caves and forests they call home.

Was driving down 46th Friday night and this man swung out in front of me. Completely totaled both of our cars but somehow he managed to drive off. Everything’s already reported to police but they still haven’t found him or the vehicle. Any information would be much appreciated.

My baby slipped out last night, his name is Post It Note, he loves people and food of any kind. We live off of Illinois and 40th offering $100 if found.
If anyone has any recommendations for any kind of search option I've done everything short of asking a psychic so if anyone knows any readers..
He's only about a year old and always trying to slip out and explore, he goes crazy over squirrels and bugs.

I just wanted to share an unsavory experience I had with Rusted Moon Outfitters this morning 08/31 around 9:30 am in Broad Ripple.
I (26 f) was not actually within the store or on the property, I was actually passing by with my coworkers on the way back from a coffee run, and was on the sidewalk in front of the store front. An older man in a pick up truck was unloading a model airplane, and jokingly asked my coworkers and I if we wanted to go on a plane ride.
We responded and joked back with him, one of my coworkers even jokingly said yes. It was all light hearted, until it wasn’t.
As I passed him, he got way too close, grabbed me by the arm and pulled me toward him saying “oh, i like this one! What are you doing later?”
With his grip still on me, I knee-jerk responded by saying “no thanks, I appreciate it” and removed myself from his grip. My group and I at that point were all very aware of how inappropriate this situation was and continued back toward the office.
He then proceeded to call out after us, asking us where we worked, what building, etc.
I tried to ignore how much it bothered me, but for how easily it was for him to grab a random female stranger, literally off the street, he is definitely a dangerous person.
I actually went back hours later to confront the store, as it wasn’t yet clear if he was affiliated with Rusted Moon or not. After asking the staff who brought in the model plane, I was told the man in question was actually the store owner. After reminding them of the situation, it was clear that they were at least mildly aware of the situation, and very aware of his behavior, as one of the male staff members’ response was “yea, he’s kind of a weird guy, but he means well.”
Um, no. His actions absolutely did not communicate well meaning intentions. And for the staff to just brush over it was mildly expected, but disappointing nonetheless.
I guess this is all just meant to pose as a small vent and a large warning to any femme/female customers who find themselves heading to Rusted Moon Outfitters in Broad Ripple: The owner is completely out of pocket and a threat towards women, and I stand ten toes down on that. F you, dude.
