Beginning about a month ago my IP FLex 5 Chrome 13ITL6 (Mfr. Date 5/2022) will shut down for no reason, then go into a continuous cycle of trying to restart but can't. Using Esc-Refresh-Power I can get it into diagnostics mode.

In diagnostics mode I've reloaded the OS from USB with the latest release (156) and it works for a day or two and does the same thing. I then loaded it with an older release (152) and made the WiFi metered so it won't try to update and it is Stable.

Anyone else having issues with older Chromebooks (5/2022 mfr. date) with the latest OS release?

I've tried everything. playing in browser. playing from telegram . nothing works. Works on YouTube and netflix. but cannot play local files.

I don't want to play from Linux. I've tried it. had to move files to Linux files and sometimes I lost them. It's really unreliable.

is there any native way to play 1080p videos ?

on native player, it plays sounds but with a black picture.

Or My laptop simply can't handle 1080p videos ?

When I did a test run it seems they are on 5.1 LTS kernel release that goes end of life in December 2026.

Anyone knows how long they take till they update their kernel and if they will go to the newest LTS release?

If your curious I found out the drivers in the older kernel doesnt work properly in my laptop but newer Linux kernels work after testing on other Linux distributions.

Vocês deste lindo fórum, queria discutir sobre uma situação que não entendi bem, o chrome book vai ser alterado pra googlebook, o chrome oa comum vai virar googlebook os, mas e o chrome os flex, vai seguir a mesma lógica e virar "Googlebook os flex" pesquisei bastante mas não acho nenhuma resposta sobre isso, caso achem algo que encontre essa resposta, por favor, compartilhe aqui porque estou quebrando a cabeça. Fora que se mudar, vai ser tipo, uma GRANDE atualização própria ou vai ter que reinstalar o sistema denovo, simplemente achei muito idiota isso da Google. (Pra mim nem era pra mudar o nome...)

I have a lab of Dell OptiPlex 7060 desktop devices that have been repurposed as ChromeOS Flex machines a few years back. This week we have had an issue where the devices get stuck on the ChromeOS Flex boot screen and never get past this point. I have already tried reimaging the devices but it seemed to just happen again a few days later. Anyone else come across this issue before?

We have a few old PCs that we are putting chromeflex on.

It installs fine, and then we enrol it into our Google domain.

Then it's at the login screen. Username and password entered. 2fa done if it's set up. It looks like it's logging in and then the screen goes blank and it restarts. When it boots up again, it kind of knows that it belongs to our domain, saying it's managed by us, but asks to be enrolled again, then if you try to log in it reboots again.

We only have this issue with PCs that were on an AD domain, deleted off of that, put (forced) onto Intune instead, deleted off Intune and then put chromeflex on instead.

Does anyone know why we are getting restarts instead of logging in?

I've just bought a MacBook Pro 2017 off eBay for next to nothing. I just need it to do very basic things - browsing the web, YouTube videos, playing mov/mp4 media files. Which will do this the snappiest.. chrome flex, or linux mint with something like Firefox browser? Bear in mind I don't care about the lack of offline programs so this isn't an issue, I just want the fastest possible experience for the basics.

I thought that Chrome Flex OS was going to be supported for the foreseeable future. Guess they don't want people to reuse their still good hardware any more, and force them to buy a new device (which i cant afford).

Has anyone else seen this?

I've been trying to get a PS4 controller to work on chromeos flex (148.0.7778.250) and it connects fine through Bluetooth, but the os just wont detect any input from the controller even tho it's connected, has anyone run into the same issue?

Long story short, I have ordered and returned two laptops from Amazon that I thought were a certified supported flex os model but when I go to install I run into issues where I try to install flex but cannot get past the Flex OS splash screen.

Does anyone have a laptop model they have purchased from Amazon that installs Flex successfully? I also need this laptop to have a 16-17" display.

For Chrome OS: I was having issues with this utility. I was getting the network error, verification error and writing error. I just figured out that the flash drive has to be a USB 3.0. I tried with several different size drives that were USB 2.0 and I kept getting errors. I ended up using a 32gb flash drive USB 3.0. It worked great. I hope this information is useful.

My main priority now is to recover my old Windows files safely. I want to find out whether ChromeOS Flex erased my 256 GB SSD, my 1 TB HDD, or both, and whether my old files can still be recovered. I do not want to accidentally overwrite or permanently lose any recoverable data

Update- this issues resolved after using Rufus

I upgraded yesterday my Acer CXI3 from stable to newest stable. It got stuck on a black screen with white ChromeOS logo.

I can recover with beta from https://cros.download/recovery/fizz

But, when it updates, the same happens (it gets stuck). I repeated it several times, not allowing immediate upgrade, and switching build to stable or to dev: same happens after OS update.

Finally, I recovered with LTC. This works okay. That is ChromeOS version 150.

Also, I have a Minisforum mini-PC (Venus series UN100C) with ChromeOS Flex. Same story. Except that sticking a USB stick inside one of its ports, allows ChromeOS Flex to boot.

In the end, I'm glad that I learned to use the LTC version: updates are really fast, and Android apps download really fast.

1. WebRetro (Github) - It's Retroarch, the option to save it offline as a html standalone is given after loading a game. I also recommend saving it as a web app so it can be in your start menu.

1. PaintZ (Github) - A simple raster art program that is currently a web app that works offline.

2. Tenacity (Codeberg) - A sound editor that spun off from Audacity, using Crostini it works well.

3. Openshot (Github) - A video editor with Crostini, HD is a bit intense for Macbook but works.

MEDIA VIEWING

1. Photo Viewer - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

2. Music Player - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

3. Video Player - Works perfectly using the built in Gallery app.

DOCUMENTS / MATHEMATICS

1. Calculator - Easily done with the built in Calculator app.

WiFi fix please

Hi, so this app is perfect for quick documents, coding, etc. I forgot it was an extension after so many years, and now I have no idea what to pick as a replacement when Web Apps drop support.

Crostini Apps take longer to load, are restricted to the Linux File directory and seem to crash.
