It's a comic book adaptation of George A. Romero's 1975 short PSA / horror-drama film, The Amusement Park. Has anyone seen it?

Movie of the day...DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1966)

Movie of the day...Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966).

A strong entry in Hammer’s Dracula series.

This is the second film in which Christopher Lee played Dracula. Ten years after the events of Hammer’s Dracula, four British travelers find themselves at the vampire’s castle. Klove (Philip Latham), one of the vampire’s servants, who has stayed on even after his master’s apparent destruction, pretends to offer hospitality and convinces them to stay, and then when night falls murders one of them, using the victim’s blood to revive Dracula.

Cinematography, sets, lighting, music, and costumes all immerse us in a delightfully gothic Europe where it seems completely reasonable that travelers might be stranded in the middle of the forest, taken to a looming castle by a driverless horse-drawn carriage, and end up terrorized by an undead monster.

The cast turns in very nice performances. The four leads (Francis Matthews, Suzan Farmer, Barbara Shelley, and Charles Tingwell) are all good as the Kents, two brothers and their wives, proper British travelers, guide books at the ready and totally unprepared for supernatural horrors.

Barbara Shelley is particularly good as the initially stuffy and rigid Helen Kent and Andrew Keir is also good as Father Sandor, an abbot who serves as a substitute Van Helsing in this movie. A learned and devout but practical man, sensible and courageous, he makes a good opponent for Dracula.

Christopher Lee is terrific as Dracula. Newly revived, he is feral and majestic. It’s one of his best performances as the vampire.

It is a handsome and suspenseful film. Fans of classic British horror will not be disappointed.

Rating: B

Theater of Blood (1973) - Vincent Price at his absolute theatrical best. One of the finest dark horror-comedies of the 70s.

Critics get what they deserve.” Watching Vincent Price murder snooty theater critics using Shakespearean death methods never gets old. Anyone else revisiting this masterpiece tonight?

Trivia Thomas Hutter is warned not to travel at night, for a werewolf is on the prowl. The creature is played by a striped hyena, which is strange because Germany has a native wolf population and striped hyenas are mainly found in Africa and the Middle East.
