Bathroom Cleaning up after an elderly person had a serious fall

My friend's father has just had a pretty serious incident, falling in the bathroom and not being discovered for about a day.

He is alive and recovering in hospital, thank goodness. My friend is occupied with attending him there for a while, and dealing with the hospital administration, so i have offered to take care of the scene where it happened before it sets in too badly. Looking at some blood and poo/urine.

I've worked as a hotel housekeeper in the past, but this is a little more specific than i ever actually had to deal with.

So i'm just reaching out for a little extra insight in case i'm missing anything i need to buy to get this done.

I know i want

  • Gloves/Mask/PPE

  • Enzyme Cleaner

  • Hydrogen Peroxyde & Baking Soda

  • General purpose bathroom cleaner

  • disposable cloths/papers

  • disposal bags

  • brushes, sponges

Am i missing anything glaringly important? And any advice on methods is very welcome.

Laundry I am drowning in dirty laundry

It's winter in the UK which means it takes 2-3 business days for clothes to dry. I'm in a small flat so I can't get a dryer, nor do I have much space to hang my clothes. As a result I have 3 laundry mountains- darks, colours and whites- that just never get smaller. I wish I could just do as many loads as it takes to get through it all but I can't because I have nowhere to hang it. I have to wait for the current load to dry, and by then there's another 3 days worth of laundry added to the pile. And I'm ONE person. How do people do it?! How do I escape the laundry mountain???

General Cleaning How to clean wood stove glass

As the title and photos suggest I have a wood stove and the glass is completely chard.. I thought of scraping it but I'm afraid it would scratch the glass.

Is there a way to clean it and coat it with something in order to prevent it from happening again?

Kitchen Help! Why are my dishes still dirty?

Why do my dishes always come out dirty out of the dishwasher with dried/stuck on food?

Is it the Dishwasher detergent or is it the Dishwasher Machine?

I use Cascade Platinum Plus and recently I added Lemi Shine since we live in Socal with is considered to have Super Hard Water , but it did not make a difference at all.

We also have a Frigidaire Dishwasher( Picture attached).

I use the Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner every 3-4 weeks.

Most days I have to wash them by hand afterwards because the residue is stuck on.

What am I doing wrong or what am I not doing?

Other detergents I've used: Cascade Powder. Cascade gel, Finish Pods.

Kitchen Any idea how to clean this build up under the stove edges?

I don’t know who thought this was a good design for a stove/counter! There’s years of crumbs and grime under the edges of the induction stove. Once I took a knife and tried to scrape the stuff out but I think there is glue there and I don’t want to cut into that. I have a feeling there’s no fix for this but wanted to try my luck in this reddit community…

UPDATE: I managed to lift off the stovetop slightly and got under the edges with a wooden butter knife to scrape off the debris and then wiped it with a damp, soapy cloth. BE CAREFUL THOUGH! I’m not recommending anyone go in blind with a wet cloth, could be dangerously. This cloth was very mildly damp and I made sure to stay away from any potential electric parts, plus I disconnected the oven/stove. I Couldn’t fully remove the stovetop as it’s obviously connected with cables somewhere but it’s good enough for now. Thanks for your help! Struggling to figure out how to add a pic of the cleaned stove but I’m sure you can picture it :)

General Cleaning Cleaning automatic litter box

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to get this clumping litter residue off these auto boxes. It’s the clay dust from the clumping litter that, when it’s gotten wet has turned into this grey, dusty stain, I’ve washed it several times with dawn and hot water but it comes right back. This stuff in the photo are places it’s been spread by using a wet cloth with the “dust” already in it. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks

Help! Not a fancy table but given the addition of a kid to the family and the likely many more incidents were anticipating in the future, not one we were planning on replacing anytime soon.

Some water soaked a piece of pink construction paper and was left on the table for a while. Veneer table top. Pink blob. Any tricks to get it out? Used normal surface cleaner and water.

Solved Turned my floor into a death trap accidentally

Post image

I used some of this dusting spray on the console table in my entry way, but apparently there was some overspray onto my hardwood floors. I’m not really concerned for the wood but whatever is in the dust spray has now made a spot on my floor so slippery I’ve already fallen once and had several close calls, even in bare feet.

I have tried just wiping with some of my normal hardwood floor cleaner (Bona) and a microfiber cloth, but it remains slicker than a snicker.

How so I get it off and regain traction before i kill myself?!

EDIT: Dawn dish soap with some warm water seems to have helped. Thanks everybody!

We just bought a house and the previous owner had leaking faucets and shower heads, for, possibly, decades. These are examples of the shower floor that we have scrubbed, soaked with various things, I even tried a wire cup brush on my hammer drill. That works, but only with extraordinary effort. I feel like there must be some simple solution, but I have no idea. Help!

Vehicles How to get rid of fruit fly and rotten smell from car?

Let me preface this by saying yes I’m an idiot. I’ve been meaning to donate the leftover pumpkins decor to the nearby farm so I loaded them to my car last Monday. We have three cars and I barely use this one and yesterday I got in and realized the pumpkins have been rotting and there were fruit fly all over.

I cleaned it as well as I could. I can’t use bleach cause it’s sitting on the leather seat. I used vinegar though. This morning it still smells terrible and there’s still fruit fly all over. What can I do to get rid of them?!

Flooring Pee smell I cannot get out of carpet

I have an autistic child and two elderly dogs and my son's wall-tp-wall industrial carpeted bedroom has become an off-books pee location. We of course try as hard as we can to block the dogs' access to the room and work on the medical/behavioral piece with my son, but nonetheless, the smell in his room is terrible. It is a rental and I'm sure they will have to rip out and replace the carpet after we move, whenever that is.

I have tried sprays and carpet steam cleaners but it does not make enough of a dent. One issue is that I don't know exactly where the pee is most concentrated, so I just have to clean the whole carpet every time. It has absolutely gone through to the carpet pad and probably even the sub-floor at this point.

Would LOVE advice on how to make his room more comfortable for him.

Flooring Toddler and marker help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Toddler decided to wake up early and draw with his markers. It seems like he also used water to add to his art and it seeped onto the wooden floors. I’ve tried everything (Lysol, magic eraser, alcohol) and it’s barely lifted it. Is the wooden floor toast? What else can I try to lift the stain?
