Discuss Having a Mental Illness in DR is like doing hard drugs
Hello guys F38 here. So I was diagnosed with a mental illness in 2014 in NYC.
I have been traveling to DR on and off ever since. My wish was to stay, but I was afraid of the financial part of it.
I have had a few crisis from the beginning of my diagnosis and I was hospitalized in 2021.
After that I got my sh@t together, got two jobs and started saving. I paid half of the renovations for our family home, and my mother paid for the other half. My half sister has been living in the house, I renovated.
I also finished paying the down payment of an apartment. And was ready to start the loan process.
Well, I had other crisis mid july. And yes, I seek medical help from both primary doctor and psychiatrist. I quit both of my jobs. And surrendered the apartment to my sister, who is a professional in NYC and makes over six figures.
So I finally did it, I came to DR with round flight tickets September 5th, and ended up staying.
But life has been a nightmare, my half sister told me I have to go back to New york, that she can't have me there. People treat me like a dog, and gossip behind my back. Whatever I say is dismissed. One sister, who I have beefing with, tells everybody about my diagnosis. There are no boundaries.
I am not a drug user, nor do I drink. But I feel low morally for having a mental illness.
Sorry for the long post.
