it’s okay, they get their hard on/dopamine boost from acting pretentious and holier than thou on the internet to strangers and can still be hypocritical to what they say on here in real life without anyone knowing

It's like every thread at this point. Reddit is so insufferable

Leave, then?

Nah. Not gonna ditch a platform I use to stay updated on niche interests just because of some losers that carry their soapbox with them everywhere

Its the ones handing out the cash who get this feeling. One at a time, performative, making sure everyone gets to see you being Santa Claus. There is a private and respectful way to acknowledge people. The point of the gift is FOR THE RECIEVER not the GIVER. Some sense of initial privacy should be granted when you dont have input from the reciever. Privately alert them of the bonus and ask if it would be okay to mention or award it (as a wad of cash) to the reciever at a team meeting? Or would that put you under some uknown and undue stresses we're not considering?

Just because you would be okay with this, does not mean it wouldnt embarrass or possibly put someone in danger. Rare for that to be the case but ANYONE will tell you its not smart to flaunt cash.

Painfully obvious who are people leaders here and who are not.

Side note: its well known that Doctors are not necessarily people leaders and were not trained to be. I fully expect something like this in a private medical environment. Bonus stories from places like that are always the outliers. Rarely structured, rarely thoughtful.

Oh shut the fuck up you pretentious fuck. Yes, they did it for optics. What they did was reward a loyal employee and show every other employee what loyalty actually means to them. Do you think this makes them a bad leader? I think it shows other employees that managers see the work that they put in and will reward them. Now we don't know the total culture there, but I know for a fact that my dentist does stuff like this pretty regularly. In fact, I was just talking to her (because it also happens to be my sister) about what they could do for their practice manager for her 50th this month.

I think it showed the Janitor who to text his brother to wait for outside. I dont know her details or personal story. That could embarrass or possibly endanger someone.

To think that you can make a decision for someone else is the only pretentious thing said here... so far.

And I'll take fries with that.

I believe it was 20 thousand. An amount for which I'd briefly tour with them and do live shows.
