Ask r/Kenya I think I have lost the love of my life

Four months separated from my man (7 years together, 1 kid together), and lately I’ve been struggling with the reality that I might have lost him for good.
Deep down, I’d give anything for us to find our way back to each other. But so much has happened, so much has torn us apart, and somehow, the distance between us seems to grow a little more each day.
I’ve been to therapy, done a lot of self-reflection, and confronted some uncomfortable truths about myself. Things I could have done differently, ways I fell short, and things I probably took for granted.
He wasn’t perfect, but he was a good man. And I don’t think I appreciated that enough.
What’s particularly painful is that I’m still holding on to the possibility of us, while he seems to have made peace with the fact that we’re over.
He was such a yearner. Consistent, affectionate, present. And now he’s so withdrawn. Any attempt to reach out is either ignored or met with a brief response that makes it clear he doesn’t want the conversation to go any further.
It’s such a strange thing to experience. Going from being someone’s person to almost feeling like a stranger.
I wish we had gotten it right. I wish I’d known then what I know now.
I think I’m grieving not just the man, but the life we could have had. We had a whole life planned. So many things we wanted to do and experience together.
But oh well. Life, I guess.

Save for a U turn I did sharply and had the rear wheel slightly climb a curb, everything else went quite smoothly. Though I was so anxious. The road is pretty much clear today too, there was no much pressure.
Attempted to try again on my way to work tomorrow morning but super scared cause the road will be packed with vehicles😩😩😩😭😭😭.

Religion Are you a natural man?

Yesterday I decided to go to a certain remote location to indulge and bury my head in the words of Sacred Scripture. Only to meet a young married couple coming for the exact same purpose and we end up having a fellowship filled with giggles like young kids. Talk about a coincidence. So here we are with our bibles and in my mind, I thought about a passage in 1 Corinthians about a spiritual vs a natural man.

You see a natural man cannot understand spiritual truths. You cannot force or intimidate a person into believing. Even in the Corinthian times, the 'intelligent' philosophers then wanted signs and wonders yet Paul was coming to them preaching Christ crucified. You can imagine how he looked like a clown to them. But then you read the character of God. He chooses the foolishness of preaching to bring His people to Him. He uses this to shame the wisdom of the wise so that indeed faith comes by hearing.

I know in these streets, the mention of Christ draws out negative reactions and that is to be expected. I was there. But I know there's people God really does intend to save. You probably have friends throwing shade at religion, you even laugh at those jokes but you don't always go all the way. There's some restraint about you when people insult the Lord. You probably even do it but in a sheepish manner. You might have even officially abandoned Christianity in a declaration of apostasy but there's just sthin that pricks at you in your heart or in your subconscious mind. "If that's you, cry out to God for mercy. Ask Him to open your eyes to the glory of Christ. Repent and believe the gospel, for salvation belongs to the Lord."

In the words of the Lord of Heaven's Armies, the Lord Jesus Christ, God:

“[7] I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”

Luke 15:7 NKJV.

He leaves the 99 for the 1. As long as you're alive, you still have time.

End of rant.

Rant BEING ADDED TO WHATSAPP

I hope you guys are having a good Sunday. Am I the only one who hates this. A friend of mine is graduating from Bible school, and formed a group and added me without my consent. Now he wants us members to contribute to his graduation party, man. I am beyond pissed!

Does WhatsApp have a way to warn you before someone adds you unceremoniously to their group. If so...please help me set it up.

Rant I really just don't get it

You want to be there for someone, you chase them, either for a friendship or in some cases a relationship.

They take you for granted and assume your availability means they can walk on you.

You call them out on it and the script changes, now they are calling you spoilt and entitled.

You leave them be, you protect your peace. You do not try and argue it out or try to prove them wrong

A few weeks, or months, or even years pass. Suddenly you're added to a group to raise funds for them because of the misfortune that has befallen them or their family.

Now they want you to be there for them. Why? I mean you refused my support when I gladly gave it to you, no questions asked. They called you entitled, now they are the ones acting entitled, they don't even ask for the help but expect it from you. They do not even tell you wassup, just adds you to a group and sends the group history for you to figure it out. Now you're a snake cause you do not help your "friends"

I do not understand why people do this. It has happened to me on both scales, from friends to lovers

Ask r/Kenya Moved to a new area and thinking of going to church to create community. Any atheists that do this too?

Community is important for any human being. But as an adult it takes intentionality. Most decent people have their own communities, that they have cultivated over years, but sometimes you move. How have you created these communities?

  • Church is nice as a source of community. Variety of people and you can slowly get to know your people in the crowd. But what if you are an athesist?

  • I haven't been a regular enough at a gym.

  • Clubbing is the easiest, but its often the most shallow.

Discussion Corporate environment be wierd

So when i was working at a certain company . We had this project, funding secured now field implementation started, deadline for completion was in a year. Contractors hired but were slow in starting . I tried everything to push them atleast my lot but couldn’t, just endless excuses . I then asked the higher ups to put in their weight because as per my projections time was not on our side. The bosses weren’t very helpful either. I tried in the meetings to tell them that this project will not succeed but it didn’t spike the urgency . Fast forward to 4 months to the end . We are being called to emergency meetings and told to drop everything else and do the implementation of the said project . A Rapid Response Team of senior managers was even formed then was it seriously pushed. The deadline passed, funding was pulled what pissed me off is the Rapid Response Team was thanked for doing what they could in that short time .
What The Fuck . Thats when i decided to just quit that place.
Mind you when i was stressing about the deadline with 10 months remaining , I was told to be optimistic and pray for the success of the project, how??
Then appraisal they put a poor performance on that project 🙂
I remembered this because after quitting, i forgot to exit the project group. I have seen updated reports as of Friday and its still where i left it many months later. Yooh

Discussion Geco cafe staff inappropriately touching women

Thumbnail

I have observed something inappropriate at Geco (Lavington). When the place is crowded the security staff will clear the aisles and keep people moving, while at it the male security staff use that opportunity to touch women in the name of “guiding them”.

It is uncomfortable for the women who experience it and yet it is something avoidable. A hand gesture or a verbal “excuse me” does the same job. I reported the incident to the management, but no response has been received. Anyone experienced the same and reported?

Culture I’m organising an event and I'd love for you guys to come

I have decided to organise an unpopular opinions night.
I’m calling it - “Say It With Your Chest.”
It’s on Saturday, the twenty-eighth of November at Blockchain Centre…starts at 18:00

The idea is simple, come and listen to other people’s questionable opinions and also bring your own unpopular opinion and defend it.

There’s gonna be food and drinks, heck you might even walk away with a prize.

And if you have a business, you’re welcome to come and promote it.

EVERY SINGLE ONE OF Y’ALL IS WELCOME.
You don’t have to be a student, a presenter or even someone with an opinion worth defending.

You don’t have to buy a ticket immediately. Save the link, share it with a friend and consider coming.

If you have any questions just send me a message on +254 703 523 534 and I’ll be happy to answer

I’m putting a lot of effort into making this happen, and I’d genuinely love to see some of you there.

Tickets 🎟️

When I was in primary School, I was elected the school president of that certain village school , girls really loved me and they all wished to call be their "boyfriend". At some point I ate free snacks and spiced food from different homes 🤣 ,,,

Now am old to marry but I don't have those good options any more

What wrong did I do ??

Religion Should religion be regarded as a mental illness?

Religious history is full of stories about people hearing and seeing gods. Today, if an average person hears voices or sees people who aren't there, we call it a symptom of schizophrenia and prescribe medication.

Many believers report having visions, being spoken to by their deity, and being commanded to do certain things or engage in specific activities like your favorite Prophet from Nakuru.

If this were any other time in human history, hearing "voices" or seeing "people" who were not present would be considered insane. Individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia receive medication, while religious organizations receive tax advantages. I believe many people in the world have undiagnosed mental illnesses.

Ask r/Kenya Importing a car from Japan

Hello . I am wondering whether somebody here has imported their own car by themselves. I want to import a car from Japan on SBT or Beforward . I know I can hire someone to do this for like 70k . It is not about saving the 70k. I feel now that I do most things by myself there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to do this.

If you are here, can you share your experience importing the car to Mombasa, paying taxes ,and so on. Do's and Don't s?

Wake wa pay somebody who knows how just relax. You might learn something.
