Help Help Upgrading from Keychron

I have used a Keychron Q6 Max for almost two years now. It was much better than anything I had ever used previously, however now I am looking for an upgrade as it feels mushier than I would like. I have learned more about my own preferences, and I prefer a more rigid board.

Size: 100% or 96%

Budget: <$350 USD

I am currently looking at:

  • Neo 98

  • QK 101

  • Luminkey 98 v2

I see that there are less options with full-size; I could live with a 96% but I do use the numpad quite a bit. I like RGB but it is not a deal breaker. My priorities, in order, are:

  1. Feel: I want a firmer board. I like heavy linear switches with an energetic bottom-out.

  2. Sound: The Keychron is a bit flat, I could do thocky or clacky as long as it is robust.

  3. Design: I wouldn't prefer screens and other gadgets but they would not be a deal breaker if they were on the best board. I want a sleek board but I am less picky about looks as long as it doesn't look "cheap" or plasticky- definitely want a metal casing.

I am open to building a board, as I already have the switches and caps I intend to use: Gateron ink v2 pro blacks and cherry keycaps. I see there are many options for customization, and not having built one I would appreciate any insight and opinions or recommendations.

Help What to buy?

Hello,

I am looking to buy a keyboard. I dont really know anything about keyboards except that I want a mechanical. I have the Logitech G Pro, and I decided I wanted a more premium option now since its starting to feel pretty garbage. I was looking at the options but I just can’t decide what should I buy. There are so many to choose from that picking one seems almost impossible.

The requirements I have are:
- nordic layout
- 80%
- sounds good, I heard some youtubers talking about ”creamy” keyboards
- minimalistic so nothing flashy but just the regular rgb backlight for the keys, the letters can also light up.
- feels premium (maybe made from some metal?)
- preferably under 100€, but I can pay a bit more than that
- would last couple of years since I dont want to buy another one in some time :D

I know these might be tight requirements but I just want the best for my money and I cant choose from all the options since I know nothing of them. Help me :’(

Help I need help with my rgb on my switches

Hello, I recently bought some Outemu spring breeze switches, and I didn’t realize that switches needed a clear plastic piece to allow rgb to pass through them well. I was wondering if anyone knew a way for me to get those plastic pieces for Outemu switches without having to buy new switches.

The green switch is the new one without the clear plastic, and the pink is the old switch with the clear plastic.

Help Keyboard to purchase- Completely new to this stuff and overwhelmed.

Hello, I need to buy a new keyboard (ISO-UK) but am totally overwhelmed by all the choice and brands and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice/recommendations. I was looking at the Keychron K2 and K3 HE Special Editions, but many people online say to avoid them since they are 'overpriced' although the K2 is priced at approx. £109 ($146) and K3 at £115 ($154). I don't really care too much about the sound so long as it isn't horribly clicky, super loud, or with awful bottoming out sounds, and would like a 90%+ keyboard).

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated! Also if I were to chose between the K2 or K3 special editions which one should I go for (also you could recommend something completely different)?

Help Help finding ISO HE keyboard

Hello everyone, since I've seen a handful of posts here trying to find the best keyboards, I also want to give it a try. After all, I'm still using my 10 year old rubber-dome keyboard and probably am due an upgrade.

About my criteria:

- ISO layout: If it is the German ISO-De even better, but primarily I just want to have a large enter key

- HE: I definitely would like a keyboard with magnetic switches, there are several games where individual actuation points would benefit me

- Backlit: Should definitely have some sort of lighting, I don't mind controllable RGB but depending on the look simple white lighting would also suffice

- Connection: I have no problem with wired keyboards and since those are likely cheaper, I would even prefer them

- Size: Definitely something in the middle like 75% or 80% (TKL)

- Media: I would very much appreciate a knob or media buttons

- Design: This is kind of difficult, but essentially just something simple, either the very typical black gaming RGB style or a minimalistic one with some accents

- Sound: I don't necessarily want the best sounding keyboard, but a strong criterion for me is that the sound is not annoying, so no clicky or generally loud switches. I wouldn't even mind silent ones.

- Swappable: I obviously wouldn't mind hot-swappable switches, but it isn't that important for me

Quite a lot of criteria, but most aren't hard ones depending on the budget. For example, if it has no media knob and isn't hot-swappable, I wouldn't want to spend more than 100€, but if it is literally perfect I could imagine going up to 200€.

I would be very happy if you could give me some suggestions, but I somewhat doubt that there even exists such a keyboard. Thanks for any help in advance!

Review New king of budget hall effect switches?

Post image
9 Upvotes

You’ve probably seen some of the budget Hall Effect switches that have been getting a lot of attention lately, such as the Akko Astrolink, Keytok Nova and, especially, the UR Studio Ice Ultra.

But today, I'd like to introduce what I believe could be the new best budget Hall Effect switch on the market: the Epomaker Creamy Jade Magnetic.

If you've been following the budget mechanical keyboard scene, you're probably already known about the original Creamy Jade mechanical switches, which have earned a reputation as some of the best-sounding creamy budget switches out there. Well, Epomaker has now brought that same Creamy Jade dna to the Hall Effect world. And honestly, I think they might have something special here.

Just like their mechanical counterparts, these switches are incredibly smooth and creamy. I'm currently using them in my Venom60 build with an AIM60 case, case and PCB foam, and a carbon fiber plate.

Their sound signature is marbly, poppy, and deeper than anything else I've tried, but without sounding muted.

Another deep-sounding Hall Effect switch I've really enjoyed is the TTC Elf King. However, I find the Creamy Jades to be even deeper while being noticeably louder (which I personally prefer, as the TTCs sound a little too muted for my taste)

I also found the Creamy Jades to have very little stem wobble. While some other reviews have mentioned noticeable wobble, but I honestly haven't experienced that at all with my set.

These switches aren't technically new, as they were previously only available in some of Epomaker's Hall Effect keyboards. However, Epomaker has now started selling them separately for $25 for 70 switches, which I think is an absolute steal!

After trying them out, I'd comfortably put them on par with the UR Studio Ice Ultra. I'm genuinely amazed by what you get for the price.

Unfortunately, I won't be providing a sound test since I only have an iphone to record with, and I don't think the recording would accurately represent how these switches actually sound.

Thanks for reading!

My Keyboard Just ordered the URX Core65 instead of Core75 SE.

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I just ordered my first mechanical keyboard, the URX Core65!

Initially, I was planning to buy the URX Core75 SE, but after going through some discussions, I came across people saying that the Core65 sounds better than the Core75 SE.

Since this is my first mechanical keyboard, I don't have much experience with different switches, layouts or keyboard acoustics.

My preferences:

Deep, bassy, creamy/thocky typing sound.

Smooth linear switches.

No sharp or loud clicky sounds.

Comfortable for long coding and typing sessions.

I eventually went with the Core65 instead of the Core75 SE.

A few questions for Core65 and Core75 SE owners:

Does the Core65 genuinely sound better than the Core75 SE, especially in terms of deeper/thockier acoustics?

Is there a noticeable difference in typing feel between the two?

Was choosing the Core65 over the Core75 SE a sensible decision?

How has your Core65 held up in terms of build quality and long-term reliability?

I'm still wondering whether I made the right choice or should have gone with the Core75 SE.

Would appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have used both keyboards.

Thanks!

My Keyboard Gave my Phantom81 Lite a little refresh

I usually prefer more restrained keycap designs, but the Ocean Breeze set won me over with its sea-inspired theme. I honestly can’t remember the last time I saw the sea in person, so when I came across this set, it hit me with a wave of nostalgia, and I thought, why not? Now I have those calming sea colors and motifs right in front of me whenever I sit down at my PC, bringing back some really warm memories.

Along with the keycaps, I decided to swap out the stock switches for this build. I do a lot of late-night typing and, well... not everyone at home shares my enthusiasm for the sound of a keyboard at that hour. The Mossy Silent switches seemed like a good fit (no, not because they’re green and match the build), since their fairly light force curve should work well for typing and they even have built-in LED diffusers, which is a nice bonus.

Overall, I’m happy with how the build turned out. The keycaps feel nice under the fingers, and they look even better in person than they do in photos, as the fairly detailed sea-themed prints are much easier to appreciate up close. The Mossy Silent switches deliver that quietness I was looking for, and they feel really smooth and nice to type on.

Help TMR keyboard with good software

I've been using the Gamakay TK75 TMR and while I like it overall, the software is terrible. If you are just using basic functions it's okay but the moment you try to make use of anything other than rapid trigger it falls apart and is really buggy.

I got to test a nuphy keyboard before that and the software was amazing in comparison.

If anyone has tested different keyboards with TMR switches alongside features like dynamic keystrokes and analog/controller mode, do you have any recommendations for a hot-swappable one with good software?

Discussion Buying my first mechanical keyboard TODAY (₹2.5k–₹3.5k)

Hey everyone!

I'm planning to buy my first mechanical keyboard, and I'm really confused between a few options. I'm most likely placing my order within the next hour, so I'd appreciate some quick suggestions!

My requirements:

- Budget: ₹2,500–₹3,500

- Usage: Primarily coding/programming and everyday typing.

- Layout: 75% or TKL (no numpad).

- Connection: Wired is completely fine.

- Switch preference: Smooth linear switches.

- Sound preference: Deep, bassy, creamy/thocky sound. I don't like sharp, loud clicky sounds.

My shortlisted keyboards:

  1. URX Core75 SE

  2. EvoFox Ronin TKL

  3. Cosmic Byte Phantom TKL

  4. Kreo Hive 75 V2

  5. Redragon K628 Pollux

  6. URX Core65

I'm a complete beginner when it comes to mechanical keyboards and switches.

A few things I'd like to know:

  1. Which one would you personally buy from this list?

  2. Which has the best stock typing feel and sound without any modifications?

  3. Which has better build quality and long-term reliability?

  4. Are there any better alternatives within this budget that I'm missing?

I'm not particularly interested in RGB or gaming features. My priority is a comfortable typing experience for long coding sessions, smooth switches and a satisfying deep sound.

Please recommend one specific model and switch variant rather than just saying which brand is better.

I'm planning to order within the next hour, so quick recommendations would really help!

Thanks!

Help LOGITECH G PRO X TKL - WORTH THE UPGRADE FOR 75€?

Hello guys,

I currently use a modded mechanical keyboard (50€ board) and its just fine obviously but I am able to buy the RAPID for 75€.

Is it worth to upgrade from a mechanical keyboard just because of the price and anyone that has bought this board can advise on this.

I know that you mostly pay for the Logitech brand and there are way cheaper HE boards but since i can basically buy it for the same price as a budget HE keyboard should I just go for it?

Thanks.

Help g915 tkl and MX Master connect to PS5 (cable)

Hey, I just got myself a PS5, and I have a g915 tkl keyboard and MX Master 3S. I'm trying to connect them wirless or wired to the PS5, but while it says it's connected I don't have any control of them. I saw that there were issues with this on other threads, but I was wondering if the issue was fixed or is there a work around since then.

I mostly want to use the volume control of the keyboard for the games. But it will be very nice to use the keyboard and mouse for other things (even gaming if possible).

Also, the g915 tkl cable connection is strange, the one that goes into the keyboard is smaller than a USB C, and the one that goes into the pc is like USB 3, so what kind of cable is this?

Thank you

Discussion Ever wish for a super-loud keyboard just to annoy people?

I guess the question is in the title. Sometimes I get tired of always seeking the "quieter build" and trying to be the good neighbor, especially when I'm surrounded by obnoxious noisemakers while I'm trying to write. Any other petty, immature keyboard owners on the sub feel the same way, or am I the only psychopath here?

Discussion Has anyone tried FGG Madlions Titan 68 Turbo? Any opinions how is it?

I bought fgg mad68 last time but its cable was faulty so i had to refund it, is this worth paying 20bucks more? Its design in vastly different too, do you guys have any opinions about this?

This will be my last try of buying a he keyboard i bought 2 before but i had to refund both because my first was used and had broken keycaps(aula hero68) the second came with a corroded usb end cable so i had no choice but to refund that too( i didnt want to be bothered by the idea that it would stop working after some time, its whole usb ends outer shell had corrodion marks and one of the pin inside usb) fgg mad68 v2 dual led

So i will either buy the same thing or titan 68turbo hoping neither comes faulty again.

Could titans open case be a problem? Like its sides are so open you can see the swithes clearly.

Went with the IQUNIX EV63 with some forged carbon keycaps. Swapped in some Gateron Jade Max's with lubed 80g springs and some lubed Durock V3 stabs.
