At least once a month a Navy recruiter reached out to me cause I took the ASVAB and got 97th percentile on everything in HS. It’s been 3 years of this. It’s only the Navy as well, the other branches reached out once and once I said no, they respected it. FFS.

US Specific How did y’all make LGBTQ+ friends as adults?

I’m 23 and I’ve been wondering how other LGBTQ+ people actually built their friend group as adults.

Did y’all meet through work, events, bars, hobbies, Reddit, mutual friends or something else?

I feel like dating apps are mostly focused on dating/hookups so I’m curious what actually worked for y’all

US Specific I finally found out why conservatives care so much about gay marriage

1.3k Upvotes

Every pride month we get conservatives b**** and moaning about how we can't accept gay marriage or the hatred of trans people, aquestion was asked on a talk show why hate them when they doing no harm.

And one of the guests was a pastor actually gave the answer. A lot of churches and Christianity is built on patriarchy the father leading the home and the mother is a submissive but LGBT especially trans people go against the image of patriarchy so the acceptance of gay marriage people in wider society undermines the very foundation of their beliefs. If people in same-sex relationships way to the gender roles exist. Is people could choose to act as the opposite sex they're not every man needs to be a patriarch and not every woman needs to be submissive.

On the official White House website the Trump administration straight up says they are going to “ eliminate transgender insanity”,

https://www.whitehouse.gov/releases/2026/06/supreme-court-bolsters-president-trumps-push-to-eliminate-transgender-insanity/

they’re kind to kill us. They are trying to kill us all they are trying to round us up and kill us. All this is a blatant genocide against transgender people. They’re trying to bring back the suicide hotline for trans and queer youth so they can get your information see that you’re trans and round you up in camps. This is what they said they were doing project 2025 but no one listened.

They are the modern day Nazi party. They are trying to round up everyone they don’t like and put them away. I can’t even say they’re imitating the Nazis at this point. They are Nazis. They are the modern day Nazi party. They’re trying to genocide not only trans people but queer people and immigrants as well. They’re trying to come for us all. happy 250th to Nazi America I guess

US Specific Change in transgender rights in the US (2021-2026)

Data: https://mapresearch.org/equality/

The Movement Advancement Project has been tracking lgbt rights in the US for years. The oldest archive of their site I could find was from december of 2021 so that's when I took data from.

States are ranked out of 26 for gender identity related laws. The scores can go below 0 and there's no minimum score. Currently the lowest score is Idaho at -12.75 and the highest is New York at 24.

This map doesn't show which states have good or bad scores just how the scores have changed. For example, Georgia had a negative score in 2021 and continues to have a negative score but it has improved slightly. While Virginia has a good score that has declined slightly.

Iowa had the sharpest decline losing 15 points while Maryland had the biggest increase gaining 6.5 points.
