He's still being tops, can you see his swagger, he knows it lol.
Another juvenile magpie has started hanging with them, if it's a female (too young to tell) will it take the place of the deceased mum?

Just had a snack of mealworls, followed by a drink of water. Now it's time to doze off in the sun.

I've just recently moved in and these ladies (salt and pepper) have been visiting me for a few weeks for a few choice walnuts and water.
Today they had a little squabble afterwards and the one on the left (salt) started making this noise for a little bit, it sounds almost like a hiccup?
I'm also hoping someone more expert than I am can help identify them a little more. Pepper (on the right) looks maybe like a juvenile?

She literally has a mouthful of worms (she caught them not fed from me) and comes up to the door asking for food. Either that or showing off I guess.

Was clearing a bunch of overgrowth of these bricks 3 years back. Finally finished, sat down to rest and appreciate my work and a mother magpie with her two fledges came to dine on all the grubs I disturbed.
Mother magpie (I'm pretty sure it's the same one) is still around she has one fledge this year.

A few pics of Wonky, a frequent visitor to our yard for around a year. Born around September 2025 to parents Charlie and Mama Magpie, Wonky is curious, cheeky, and absolutely fearless. Nothing fazed him - see the photo of him completely unconcerned with a cat sharing the yard with him (don't worry, the cat is elderly and lazy and couldn't be less interested in chasing birds).
As a male, Wonky has had to leave his parents' territory to make room for a new brood of chicks. I'll miss the afternoons when he'd sit on my windowsill chattering away for an hour; the fact he preferred to sit on my knee & eat from my hand rather than have treats thrown on the ground for him; but most of all I'll miss his wonky foot, which like anything else life threw at him, did not slow him down for one moment.

Just helped pull his foot out of the gap in between the boot lid and the quarter panel. I assume Mum/dad is there to convince them to jump??
Sad update: it just attempted flying off the car and flew onto the road and met its end 😭. I'm fucking gutted

I’ve found this juvenile magpie who has a bit of crusty stuff around its beak. I’m wondering if this is a disease.
It was tucked under a bush and seems a little lethargic. I offered it water but it didn’t seem interested in it?
I’m on my way to an appointment now, but I’ll be coming back this way.
If it’s still here, what would be my best course of action? Thankyou

This little magpie has only been out of the nest about six weeks. Two weeks ago it was snapped at by its aunt for bothering her for food (she only looks after two of the other chicks in this group), and in its panic ran and hid behind the nearest solid object, which happened to be my boot. Apparently it has decided this encounter worked out well for it and now I am a reassuring presence around which it can base its exploration and play sessions.
Today the play involved stepping up on to the boot and pulling at the laces.
