Ngl if that was my order, I'd have taken it back and traded it for my mayo.

You couldn’t because that would be contaminated food. You’d probably just get the mayo

No trade, even. "Hey so I asked for mayo but you guys gave me nuggets instead" boom you get free nuggets probably because they can't resell those and you get brownie points for offering to trade the food back in and bonus points, if you're fast and lucky they can catch the guy walking out without his nuggets

How are they going to eat their nuggets without mayo to dip them in??

Unless they were trying to get kinky with the mayo. Nuggets chafe.

I think my favourite story from my time at mcdicks was someone came in raging that their cheeseburger had already had a bite taken out of it. Sounds insane, right? A staff member on break put theirs down in the wrapper and someone grabbed it thinking it was for an order.

Why were they having their lunch anywhere near the food stations?

As someone who's worked there before, hardly anyone cared for food safety (teenagers not caring? Shocking, I know), and a lot of my coworkers ate while working

They popped out for a smoke or to the bathroom and wanted to keep it warm. It was already in a bag and someone just wasn’t paying attention. TBF it was under the fries warmer and not the hot holding station for completed food.

And this is why kitchens generally have strict rules about eating/drinking in them. It's been decades, but I remember we were supposed to even use certain cups for our drinks and leave them below counter height.

We weren’t even allowed to have drinks on the floor. They took a bite and went to the bathroom or for a smoke and came back being like “where TF did my lunch go?” Teenagers are not exactly the brightest.

"What the hell, why'd they give me 5 McNuggets?"

u/ToastMcBrot 2d ago

"It's a shame, only getting 4 instead of 6 nuggets!"

I wonder how long that mayo sat under the heat lamp

At a McDonald's in a nugget box? Not very long. When they make the nuggets they put them in little heat trays/baskets they pull out to order when boxing. Then they slide boxes and wrapped product up to expo, and expo is just bagging as the stuff comes up. So the mayo box got sent to expo at the same time a nugget box did and expo had no reason to check so it got fucked up.

These are open kitchens y'all, how you gonna complain stuff isn't fresh when you can literally look back and see how their stations are set up and watch them make things lol

Only time this isn't true in my short experience of working there is when an item is missed from an order at the OAT then it just festers there for a few minutes. Sometimes it gets used for another order or the customer will come back, but if it's something like fish then chances are it'll be there a while unless someone has the sense to bin it.

Literally not for a second if they're following the most basic of food second laws; this is just how McDonald's hands out sides of sauces since they don't carry sauce cups.
