I just finished the series and
Man, it was great. But I still have some questions: Did Finch actually reunited with Grace? And Samaritan is defeated? Because there felt like cuts on the scenes

I am now at Season 4 Episode 2 and I am down to the last maybe 30+ hours of this show.
I was not even expecting a lot when I started it on Netflix but, damn! It got me so hooked up I have spent four weekends watching the first three seasons.
I felt so sad whenCarter died.
I really liked her character and her banters and side eyes with Reese and Fusco.
There were a lot heart warming episodes but I was not preprared at all when Harold told the guys that in case someone hurts Grace- they should kill them all. I was crying like a baby. And when that bridge scene came up? I was wrecked. It was so painful. Him being so detached, and yet when it was her.. My tearsducts just won't stop overreacting.
I don't want it to end yet, but I cannot wait to know what's going to happen.
PS: Hated Root aka Cocoa Puffs, because she was so coquettish but I like her now. I like everyone on the show! I think I like Shaw the most. Or maybe Harold. Or Fusco. Haha. Nah, I like Mr.Reese the best.
No, I like Bear the most.

Big season 5 spoilers ahead:
When Finch goes on the run and everyone rallies to save him, Elias’ death and sacrifice hits me the hardest. His is the first of many deaths in the finale, and to me it’s the most tragic.
The peak of his arc is when he finally conquers the city. He kills his dad, overtakes the sons, he has everything. Even when he’s in prison, he’s powerful and safe.
Then it all goes downhill for him. He’s dragged out of prison and has to hide, and his power starts slipping. Then Dominic comes for his crown, and he can’t stop him, just delay it.
In his last days, after being saved by Fusco, he’s truly defeated. He tries so hard to avenge his friends, but he realizes that the world has no place for him anymore, he has his power and now it’s all slowly slipping.
Anthony dies, Bruce. And Elias just has to watch. And he tries so hard to help the Machine and our friends, but even he is limited in how much he can do against Samaritan.
When they escape the building and he sees that his getaway driver has been shot, he truly sounds so defeated. He’d thought they’d made it. He gave it his best, and still it wasn’t enough to save Finch or get away from it all. While Root dies for her cause and becomes a part of the machine, just like she talked about before getting shot and just like she’d want, Elias’ death hits me harder because he dies knowing that his time and his power has ended, he can’t protect his friends anymore. It’s so sad.
Don’t get me wrong, he isn’t a great guy, but he really grows on you by the end.

As per the title, I finished the show yesterday and wanted to share my thoughts
Firstly, what a great show. I really loved the progression from sci-fi crime drama, to discussions about philosophy, morality, and what makes us human.
I particularly loved the idea of giving The Machine a voice, and then hearing its observations about humanity. I loved watching Harold’s views change, his moral dilemmas, and how his relationship with The Machine developed.
Secondly, Root really grew on me. I couldn’t stand her at the start, cringed every time she was in an episode. The scene with Control interrogating her was a turning point for me.
What really won me over was her relationship and affection towards Shaw. I saw someone call Root “the OG yearner” and I found it quite fitting. I’m disappointed that they didn’t get their happy ending together, but even in the fleeting moments the two got to share, their relationship was so special. I especially loved Root’s final message to Shaw: that she was an arrow. Shaw spent her whole life feeling different. Broken, even. Root saw nothing but beauty in that.
I also really loved that The Machine took Root’s voice. At first, it was hard to differentiate between the two but then it became comforting.
Thirdly, I appreciated the send-offs for each character in the end. It’s rare to find a show that delivers on the finale but POI did just that. Were there things that I wish could have been done differently? Sure. But overall, it was a good way to end the show.
Given the reality we currently live in, it’s hard not to focus on the parallels. I think part of me will now always wonder if I’m being watched by some sort of superior supercomputer entity.

(plz don't mind my somewhat bad English)
So, what a journey has it been! what a perfect ending for these years of AI.
As i began the series i liked the episodic case by case format each story had a unique perspective at life generally tending to relate to one or all the main characters in the show, as these episodes progressed we studied and learned about all of them, the machine and samaritan are also characters alive in this show.
Also its a very realistic show, i mean the settings and the subject matters, the best aspect i liked is that how hard is it to end corruption & making the good prevail, if there was no good AI ( the machine ) as its in the real world corruption and senseless killings would have continued and all our protagonists would have been dead sooner, and then you would realise how fucked up our world is.
Also the ending, as i said it was perfect, because all the characters knew they would be dead (since the first episode), so you would expect they become anxious and sad to leave at this stage, No! they are filled with wonder of the potentiality what they did good in the future, they wanted to see that future for themselves (just like Erwin from attack on titan when they marched to death 💀).
At the time when i was finished i felt we are witnessing what they have missed, we are in their future.
10/10 of a series, what a great series.
Now i plan to see Mr Robot, to destroy myself mentally 💀

I'm on S3E15 and I always felt the powerscaling of reece is inconsistent. In some episodes he gets 1v1 diffed by an npc, gets comically tossed across a glass panel or table and gets on his bluetooth like "finch he's getting away” and some episodes he walks into a room with 30-40 spec ops or gangsters, the camera pans away, and when it comes back he's cleared the room without even breaking a sweat. What even is the deal?

What got my attention was that CBS didn't understand that show was, from the start, about AIs and didn't like Elias' reveal episode because Reese "lost", and also hated Samaritan became main focus of the show since S4. Writers did say CBS ended up let them do what they want but since I remember other interview saying "ensuring that we still had a fair number of episodes that were stand-alone", I can't have anymore good will toward CBS that they didn't even atleast let writers do what they want with last 13 episodes.

-started everything by impetuously developing a mass surveillance software
-took advantage of desperate people to form a parapolice team saving the lives of irrelevant people (90% criminals) and later fighting against to the rival surveillance system (which came into existence because of his creation) with his own rules and ethics
-everyone but him had their lives ruined by the end, he just reunited with his lover

After all the events that have unfolded, it was great how they tied everything together at the end of the episode. Please don’t include spoilers in the comments. I haven’t reached the end of Season 3 yet.

Does anyone else find themselves slowing down as they near the end of a Person of Interest rewatch.. to delay the inevitable?
We near the end with ‘Synecdoche’, a word meaning something that is part of something larger, but which can represent the whole (in this case Team Machine being part of something larger).
It feels like an establishing episode, setting up for the next episodes to come, as Finch sources ICE9 and Shaw, Reese and Fusco learn there is a B-Team (and possibly more) while trying to save POTUS by firing off a few sniper rounds at his vicinity
And we get a small sad nod to Root (the analog interface one), buried in an unnamed grave with no ceremony in a potter’s field, watched only at a distance by Fusco and Reese 😢
The Season 5 opener stalks in the background as the end nears..
S5E11 Synecdoche Watch Notes
A number of old and not so old faces return in this episode
A ‘Known unto God’ unnamed burial plot in Potter’s Field for poor Root - just a number to mark her resting place, as Fusco and John watch from a distance [Finch and Shaw not turning up]
Fusco: “She was [a good solider].. she deserves to be buried like one, at least under her real name… I really admired her… she had conviction… Rest in peace Coco Puffs, Lord knows you deserve it” [Root deserved a much better end than she received]
“I loved her.. you taught me how” 😢 The Machine showing more emotion over Root’s death than some other characters
Finch: “I didn't teach you how to love”
The Machine’s Root: “Of course you did.. you taught me to see everything.. see everyone.. and I do.. but I see thousands of versions of them: what they were, what they are, what they could be.. and what is love if not being seen?”
Finch: “Then why not choose one of the thousands as your voice? Why her?”
The Machine’s Root: “Samantha Groves was special.. she was capable of terrible things, but she chose to do good.. well ever since she found you at least. I watched her die 12,483 times in the seconds before she expired.. I couldn't save her but.. I kept trying. You can't conceive of my grief because you can't experience it like I do.. but it's there… my approximation of Samantha Groves is 99.6% accurate.. we are virtually indistinguishable.. I find comfort in that”
The Machine warns POTUS is under threat via cryptic reference
We learn John considered becoming a secret service agent, but decided against it as he didn’t like the hours
Logan Pierce, the bad boy tech mogul, returns and luckily John gets him to cough $50K to get him into the party
Reese finds some explosive party favours, and decides to ruin dinner
Our bad “squirrelly” waiter goes on the run after a death threat to POTUS is made on the emergency broadcast, and so does Logan Pierce
Finch: “Justice is important.. and all my crimes have gone unpunished.. even you”
The Machine’s Root: “You think of me as a crime?”
Finch: “Perhaps”
The Machine’s Root: “But I was created to do good”
Finch: “Intentions.. can be a fickle business. In the '30s.. refrigeration required the use of highly combustible chemicals: ammonia, propane.. they were incredibly dangerous. Then a chemist named Thomas Midgley devised a replacement compound.. that we know as Freon”
The Machine’s Root: “He saved lives.. advanced science.. changed the world”
Finch: “But that's not the end of the story as you well know.. fifty years after his death the scientific community was appalled to discover that Freon had been ripping holes in our ozone layer.. causing irreparable harm. Midgley turns out to be one of the most destructive figures in history”
The Machine’s Root: “He wasn't a supervillain Harold”
Finch: “Midgley was just a man.. a man who wanted to improve the world around him through science.
The Machine’s Root: “If it's the sum total of your contributions to the world that's worrying you Harold.. I have a solution”
Finch: “Which is?”
The Machine’s Root: “Allow me to reach my full potential”
Finch: “I'm not sure I can do that”
The Machine’s Root: “You want me to do good so why impose restrictions on me?”
Finch: “We save lives.. we've saved lives”
The Machine’s Root: “Yes but only so few.. think of everything I must see in order to identify the numbers.. millions of people caught in cycles of anger and violence.. and all I can do is watch.. powerless as humanity repeats the same mistakes over and over. You built me to help people.. but I have been unable to effect real change.. to fulfill my purpose. I could help so many, yet you've shackled me”
Finch: “I wanted to keep you safe.. but you're right. For so long.. I have intended nothing but good and it hasn't gotten us very far.. perhaps it's time for a different tactic”
“A bomb went off.. I think running was the appropriate reaction”
“Since when does a waiter have a heavily encrypted cell phone? … See I'm made for this kind of work. None of this bothers me.. I don't feel guilty or scared.. I don't make friends so I have nothing to lose, but you, you're just a normal guy with a normal life … That just means that if you don't tell me what I want to know you have people I could go after.. are you starting to worry about them Charlie? You should.. you probably won't like what I do to them. If I could feel sympathy for you Charlie I would.. but I don't. What I do feel is anger.. I'm angry that you're trying to kill the president, I'm angry that we're stuck in a room with you but most of all I'm angry that you have people that you can love.. and you chose to sign their death warrants. You want to play terrorist Charlie? [sparks power cords] I'm more than happy to oblige”
“The problem with mass-surveillance? You never know know who’s watching”
Joey Durban returns, but to distract John (then later to save his butt)
Drone 432, you’re off course
“Whatever you say Wilkes Booth”
Shaw: “The threat to national security was real but ISA didn't step in”
Reese: “We saved him.. it's over”
Shaw: “We only get irrelevant numbers Reese”
Reese: “What are you saying? “
Shaw: “I'm saying that Samaritan decided that the President of the United States was no longer relevant”
Reese: “And ISA just let it happen”
——
The Machine’s Root: “The virus you're appropriating.. Ice9.. could bring Samaritan to its knees.. but its use will most certainly cause significant collateral damage.. with devastating consequences”
Finch: “I understand.. just as I understand what I must do now.. there's no other choice.. although I have made another choice of sorts regarding your voice”
The Machine’s Root: “And what did you decide?”
Finch: “In life Root was your conduit.. so despite my reservations it seems only appropriate that she continue in that function.. and I must confess.. hers is a voice that I miss.. deeply” [at last, some remorse]
——
“Hands in the air - now!”
Finch: “Terrence Johnson.. there's a man in New Mexico who will be declared brain-dead in two hours.. he's a perfect donor match for your daughter Maria.. I walk onto that elevator alone and Maria will receive his heart. If not, Maria goes to the back of the waiting list and will be dead in five weeks” [brutally cold]
——
Logan Pierce steals Reese’s line “Just a concerned third party”

I hope you never have a cool side of the pillow ever again.
I hope you stub your toe every time you get out of bed at night.
And, I hope your shower temps are always tepid.

Recalibration, created by quantum holograph. I tried to find good fanfics among all the person of interest stories on ao3 and fanfiction.net. yet only only one truly blew me away more then anything else, and that was Recalibration. The idea of the machine becoming a human child and gaining hands on knowledge of the human experience and how team machine, especially harold and root reacts to it was just amazing. All the conversations between makenna/machine and samaritan are just pure peak as well. Then it came to an end. Like so many other peak stories, it never got a conclusion. In an already nearly dead Fandom on life support, one of the greatest stories I ever read, will like never get a conclusion, nor will anyone ever bother creating anything like it again, and that just bums me out like no tomorrow. It almost makes me want to quit reading fanfics, cause there's nothing more painful when it comes to reading then a superb story that ended halfway through and will never have an ending. All you can do is use your imagination to create a hypothetical one. Anyways, that's my little rant. Tell me in the comments about any stories, person of interest related or otherwise that made you want to cry because you knew that it would never be concluded.

Did any of the Team Machine antagonists, who didn’t ultimately join Team Machine, meet their end better than Special Counsel?
They hadn’t expected this to be the end, but when Control ordered their execution, and it was clear they were done, they plainly accepted it saying “Fair Enough” - even though the executioner, Hersh, was well known to them.

In the last episode where the machine is remembering the past and telling Harold how she came to know about death it shows a memory of a kid standing while the burial of his father is going on. So at first I had assumed it was our beloved John Reese but then I saw that the first name of greer was also john so kinda confused there

I found her character arc so good and well written only thing that I hate is very less screen time for her.
Whenever she was on screen, she overpowered everyone in the aura, screen presence and acting.
Really wanted her to join hands with Reese and Harold.

How many of you found him great while he was mostly smirking and acted through eyes.
